Yes, Sri N.R.Ranganathan..Just now finished listening to both the songs and loved them.. :)

Thank you for prompting me to enjoy listening to these golden hits :)

"Chammak challo" (Official video song) 'Ra.One' Shahrukh khan, Kareena Kapoor - YouTube

This is from SRK's latest film Ra One. Watched it yesterday. Nothing to shout about but American rapper Akon sung this song well, i especially like his hindi pronunciations. It sounds cute.

heard that SRK is a tambram in this movie. and have read that mehmood in padosan was closer to the truth, than this caricature. cant wait to see it, though in this song, the side kicks are all wearing veshtis, the right hand side per se tambram :)

incidentally, this is a hit in tamil nadu mehndi parties as well - they played the disco version 3 times last week at the wedding that i attended. compared to only once for 'vaada maappiley' :(

btw also heard that the movie, in 3 days, recouped the moneys that SRK spent. everything from then on, is gravy. probably guarantees that SRK will be #1 tax payer in hamara bharat for 2011 too.

in the interst of modesty, i will refrain my comments on the scantily clad green costumed ladies ;)

A song from Babul by talat and shamsad -milte hi ankhen dil hua

Talat Mahmood & Shamshad Begum - Milte Hi Ankhen Dil Hua - Babul [1950] - YouTube

thanks NRR. heard this song so many times on radio ceylon while growing up. also did not realize till now, that this was released in the year of my birth. :)

did you notice the piano and all the wall hangings and statues - so british. even in the old raj kapoor movies (aah, awaara) i could not help noticing the plethora of the remnants of the raj architecture and artifacts pervading all over the movies. i guess those were the dreams that indians aspired, minus the white man?

Thanks sri Kunjuppu.

For Mr.Ravi, you and others I have posted another old song in music and dance setcion
from kali topi laal rumal. A nice duet.

Shri N.R.Ranganathan,

Thank you for prompting me to listen to the beautiful duet song from the movie - "KALI TOPI LAAL RUMAL".. :)

"Laagi Choote Na Ab Tho Sanam..Chaahe Jaaye Jiya....Theri Kasam"

Very nice song Shri N.R.Ranaganathan.

Another favorite of mine:

Youtube

From Anand, 1970.
All songs from that movie are just great!

Shri drb,

That's the great philosophical song that you have posted, from the movie - "ANAND"

As you said, all the songs of this movie are great. The one, the melodious music of which I love the most, from this movie is -

Anand - Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye Saanj - Mukesh - YouTube

-Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye...Saanj Ki Dulhan Badan Churaaye...Chupke Se Aayi...Mere Khayaaloan Ke Aangan Main Koyi Sapnoan Ke Deep Jalaaye...Deep Jalaaye...

A song of a disstressed man who knows that he is heading towards death soon and expecting something sweet to happen and recollecting what the life is.

Wonderful music & great lyrics!!!

.............

I remember seeing that movie decades ago. Does he have cancer or what in the story? Also did he have similar story in 'Safar'?

Impending death is the only 'guaranteed' thing to make somebody quite humble and appreciate things in life. It is permanent. To me any other stuff that humbles somebody in life is transient as it changes/reverts back to old self once things settles.

Yes SRK plays a Tamilian and there is one part showing him eating chinese noodles with curd using his fingers! He also tries speaking what I think is Tamil. I do wish Bollywood will start using other SI communities or Bengalis as caricatures for a change in future. The Tamilian/tambrahm stereotype is getting predictably boring :)

I loved the few seconds that Chitti/Rajani appeared! That was the best.

Dear Amala and all,

Last night before falling asleep I was listening to my favorite Radio frequency, playing old Hindi songs one by one. The one that I loved the most is the song that I once used to listen to long long ago and want to share with you all here..

From the movie - "MASOOM"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJLb0zRMgEI

Huzoor Is Kadar Bhi Na Itra Ke Chaliye...Khule Aam Aanchal Na Lahra Ke Chaliye....

Wonderful music, great lyrics!!!

Shri drb,

Yes, in this movie (ANAND, the name of the character), Rajesh Khanna is a terminally ill patient with Cancer..A wonderful movie that incites people to rejoice the beauty and glory of the nature and the fine & pure things of this physical world. A sense of appreciation is must, in all the ways possible, before one dies.

Anand is aware of his fate, but tries to live every moment of his life fully. He brushes off fear and enjoys the gifts of the nature. Anand determines to reamain happy untill his death and keep laughing. It is only in laughter that he breathes his last.

I am not much sure of the story of the movie "SAFAR". With some rough idea I had long before, I think, in this movie also Rajesh Khanna is a cancer patient, but the story is different. He ignores himself from his love knowing his plight and enables the girl to marry some one else. The climax of the movie does not projects the ending of Rajesh Khanna's life, due cancer, I suppose..
