SIRS- Salman rushdie, who potrayed islam in an extremely offensive manner in his book 'the satanic verses' has been conferred knighthood by the british government! it seems for europeans, any person who potrays any religion apart from christianity (the religion of majority of whites) in an offensive manner is to be honoured! a dubious 'historian' called romila thapar was 'honoured' by an american university despite justifiably strong protests from the hindu community. this 'historian' has potrayed hinduism in an extremely offensive manner, glorifying islamic rule in india! ofcourse, salman rushdie is a good writer. even his book 'satanic verses' is a good book, inspite of the allegedly negative potrayal of muslims.
In islam there are accounts of how the prophet mohammed during his times also supported demolishing of places of worship of other religions and converting them into mosques. it is said following this example set by the prophet, many muslim rulers demolished many temples in india and converted them into mosques. in fact many hindu rulers also seem to have converted themselves to islam due to fear, and before, during and after this conversion, they demolished many temples and later converted them into mosques, as part of their commitment to their new religion!

BRAHMA & BUDDHA! SONIA & SALMAN!

sirs - why is it that hinduism is the only religion which contains the caste system? obviously because, hinduism believes in re birth (which abrahmic religions do not have). it is believed all 4 varnas originated from different organs of Lord Brahma. each & every person will be born in each & every varna in each & every birth. so there is no discrimination, and all are equal.
WHY BRAMINS WELCOMED LORD BUDDHA!

SIRS - it is said priestly bramins were overburdened very much as they had to perform lot of rituals , as devotees from all varnas pestered them with request after request to perform this function or that yagna day after day. the origin of buddhism led some persons to the fold of the buddha initially. this automatically reduced the population of hindus, and thus made it easy for priestly bramins, as with the burden now relatively less, they could perform the rituals with more concentration, accuracy & quality. may be this is why some bramins called buddha as another avatar of Lord vishnu!
Many persons who had converted to brahminism from other varnas seem to have been attracted by buddhism and converted to it. after this slowly, to protect the distinctness of bramins, it seems conversions from other varnas to brahminism have been banned, particularly after the resurgence of vaishnavism.
KNIGHTHOOD FOR WRONG REASONS!

SIRS - Though salman rushdie is a very good writer, and his 'satanic verses' is said to be a very good book, i do not think he would have been conferred knighthood had he potrayed christianity in an offensive manner. He deserves knighthood, but has been given for wrong reasons- it seems he has been honoured primarily for potraying the negative aspects of a non christian religion.

SIRS - The BJP is not saying that no foreigner should come to india or occupy any post in india. the BJP only says constitutional posts like president, vice president, chief justice of india, prime minister, cabinet ministers, chiefminsters, governors etc., should be reserved only for natural citizens of india. this is not xenophobia.
BTW, 'gandhi' in hindi means dirty. the politics of the sonia gaandhi is very dirty indeed, and she should perhaps be called sonia gandhi, and not sonia gaandhi!

sirs- The BJP stands for orthodox hinduism, and not fundamental hinduism. there is a big difference between orthodoxy and fundamentalism, though both may look alike. a fundamentalist is one who is intolerant of other religions, whereas an orthodox hindu is one who is primarily a person with deep devotion & respect to old values of hinduism. had muslims agreed to hand over land to build ram temple at ayodhya at a place where a deserted structure stood, there would have been no possibility for BJP to grow to this extent. again by trying to kill Mr. advani in coimbatore in 1998, muslim fundamentalists created deep anger, suspicion & sympathy among hindus, which helped BJP to get many extra seats in 1998 elections.

WHY TEMPLES WERE DEMOLISHED BY MOGHUL RULERS IN INDIA!

SIRS- many moghul rulers are said to have not only demolished many temples during moghul rule of india, but also converted these temples into mosques! the reason is that, there was a tradition in islam, inthose days, which considers demolishing places of worship of other religions and converting them into mosques as a noble act. the prophet himself demolished many idols during his time. when many persons who converted from other religions to islam demolished their own places of worship themselves as part of their commitment to their new religion i.e. islam, the prophet praises them. thus many moghul rulers like babar, aurangzeb & others following this tradition demolished many temples and converted them into mosques.

like that, some hindu rulers in india who converted to islam, as part of their commitment to their new religion, demolished many Hindu temples , buddhist temples & jain temples and converted them into mosques. thus the hindus who demolished temples in india were not orthodox hindus, but hindus who before converting to islam, committed this sacrilege as a token gesture to please the moghul rulers.

in india mosques were built only from moghul invasion. so it is unlkely that hindus would have demolished mosques, as doing so would invoke the anger of the barbaric moghuls. similarly, in hinduism there is no tradition, which considers demolishing any place of worship as noble act. to hindus never demolished places of worship of any religion, including hinduism.
