Dear P J Sir,

The Oscar is awarded by my dear friend and not myself! :nono:

I am a worthy candidate because I made you think of GOD!

Dear Renu,

I create a new award for you, since you are able to tackle all subjects!

Shakthi is beautiful and powerful!

So....... The 'Forum Shakthi' award goes to Renu!

Teen murti huh? I have some guesses as to who is the creator and the destroyer. I think the role of "Maha Vishnu" is undoubtedly taken.
You must have missed that 'interesting' post which started the award ceremony!

No male Gods because all the three are lady members of our dear forum! :thumb:

Awards apart, interesting questions
1. why do we need a day for women

2.Is it a happy womens day?

I find the concept of celebrating one day as womans day as patronising . do women have an identity of their on other than some mans daughter, wife or sibling, depending on men for an identity.

how many are free to study as they would like, take up jobs of their choice, get their pay packets which they can spend as per their liking, wear what they want, whom they should be friendly with , with whom they should have sex.free to go out without fear of molestation and rape.unless women get these basic freedom , celebrating freedom is meaningless and is a mere tokenism

is it a happy day ? not much -when they have to fight to live with dignity and respect ,be respected as persons with right to an opinion, most women would like everyday to be a womans day where they enjoy the basic freedom as individuals and have the right of choice to be what they want to be.

........... 1. why do we need a day for women

2.Is it a happy womens day?.......
1. Since 'Days' are celebrated for Valentine, Father, Mother and so on and even for some diseases!

2. Any day is happy if no mishap happens! :thumb:

BTW, Ram attended a talk recently, in which the speaker enlightened the men, how to 'protect' themselves from the reports

of sexual harassment by their women subordinates! He had quoted a few cases, in which innocent bosses were reported for

harassing their lady colleagues! Some reports were made by ladies because promotion was NOT given to them! :dizzy:

So, not all women are  s !!

first let women feel free to exercise their choices and have a breath of fresh air without men imposing conditions.

no man can tolerate independant ladies with a mind either at home or office.

they get discriminated in choice of work assignments, promotions and rewards.

if some with a male mindset get fixed , they deserve it.

many men harass women employees and pass derogatory comments.

if some are fixed by these women ,they deserve it.

by the way , it is better if some could have image of a bad women if that helps them to achieve freedom in work or home

space.

you know many men love so called bad women than sati savitri type. just because a girl is open and expresses her

desires and aspirations they are dubbed as shameless and to be avoided. this is a mindset.

only when women get true freedom to be themselves and exercise their choices , it will be a fairer world.

I would not like to be with angels if they are brainless and only good looking .

Angel does not mean a beautiful person!

Please see the second meaning of angel, Krish Sir!

angel

noun

1. a spiritual being believed to act as an attendant, agent or messenger of God,

conventionally represented in human form with wings and a long robe.

2. a person of exemplary conduct or virtue.

you are scaring me with your definitions.lol

who would like spiritual messenger of God with virtue and excellent conduct.

Such women can play Goddess in temples or tamil films.

I love earthy women with some good and some not so good qualities.

life is more interesting that way.

I like fiercely independant freedom loving women who can set terms and accept challenges to excel in many areas.

nothing like a great brain with some goodness .

Sterotyping of women as sati savitri etc is placing constraints on womans freedom.

most women would like both social and sexual freedom.

both are denied to them in various ways.

unless a new order emerges to change the male mindset, women will continue to suffer,

more horrendous incidents of assaults on valentin day by fundamentalists, molesting at home and in public spaces

driving women to desperation are symptoms of a deep rooted sickness in indian society.

sociologists, teachers, parents ,politicians need to introspect at the evolving scenario which is not good for our women

all right thinking people will have to yield ground to increasing aspirations and desires of new indian women

else it will take us all further downhill.

we will become laughing stock of international media and all will treat us on par with taliban in course of time

Vidya Balan said:
The Second Sex, a sort of bible of feminist literature, reads, “Humanity is male and man defines woman not in herself, but as relative to him. So, a man can think of himself without a woman, but she cannot think of herself without him.” But that is changing now, and that is exactly why now is the best time to be a woman.

We are slowly, but surely, realising that no one, but we ourselves can and should be the stakeholders in our own destinies, and therefore, we can lead our lives the way we want to as individuals, and as people.

We’ve been to schools and colleges, we work alongside men and sometimes above them, we negotiate our pay packets and promotions, we wear or don’t wear what we wish to, we choose who to have sex with and when, we fight bitter divorce battles and can arm twist for alimony, we shoot videos and upload them on WhatsApp when men outrage our modesty. We are because we know we can be.

For millions of other women maybe today gives them an excuse to pay a little attention to themselves, to remember that being a woman doesn’t only mean being a giver or living in fear and judgement, to know that they have the right to dignity, to hold their body and their will. Or that it could also mean that we deserve the respect of having a day dedicated to our needs so that we awaken to the truth that not just today but every day could be ours, just as every breath is ours. Until that happens, here’s wishing you a Happy Women’s Day!

[h=1]‘Gender equality still a distant concept in India’[/h]
Nearly 60 per cent of girls in India drop out due to the lack of toilets in schools, said Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta, Chief Justice of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

At an awards ceremony of the Justice P.C. Reddy Trust here on Saturday, Justice Sengupta said rampant foeticide after sex determination was also a cause of concern. Supreme Court judge Justice V. Gopala Gowda said that though the Constitution guaranteed gender equality, it had not been implemented in the country, despite more than 60 years of independence. “In a gender-justice society, providing economic and political equality is important,” he stated.

Justice Gowda said it was important to impart education and provide exposure to women in India for their development. “However, we have not been able to implement the Constitutional directives, as the Constitution provides for gender equality,” he mentioned.

Denouncing the violence against women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said one-stop- centres and mobile helplines will be set up for women in distress.

"Our heads hang in shame when we hear of instances of crime against women. We must walk shoulder-to-shoulder to end all forms of discrimination or injustice against women," he said in a message on the occasion of International Women's Day.

He noted that the Union Budget had unveils broadbased social security schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana which will benefit women in a big way.

The 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' Yojana seeks to usher in a paradigm shift in attitudes towards the girl child and places emphasis on educating the girl child while the Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana will provide support for marriage and education of young women, he said.

Woman

WOMAN

● changes her name

● changes her home

● leaves her family

● moves in with you

● builds a home with you

● gets pregnant for you

● pregnancy changes her body

● she gets fat

● almost gives up in the labour room due to the unbearable pain of child birth

● even the kids she delivers bear your name

Till the day she dies... everything she does... cooking, cleaning your house, taking care of your parents, bringing up your children, earning, advising you, ensuring you can be relaxed, maintaining all family relations, everything that benefit you..... sometimes at the cost of her own health, hobbies and beauty.

So who is really doing whom a favour?

Dear men, appreciate the women in your lives always, because it is not easy to be a woman.

*Being a woman is priceless*

Happy women's week!

Pass this to every woman in your contact to make her feel proud of herself.

Women just want to be themselves.

Frankly speaking in the real sense no one is really bound..we are totally free to be an angel or unleash the devil in us.

N NICEST GIFT TO MEN FROM GOD

This mindset has the change.

A Woman is NOT a gift to men and neither is a men a gift to women.

Both men and women should learn to appreciate and live in harmony with each other without the need to gift wrap each other.

By saying that a woman is a gift to man it makes it sound as if a woman was born just for the sake of men.

I am pretty sure Nature did not have such plans.

Nature made men and women for continuation of species and to love each other.

If anyone badly needs a gift..go to the gift shop!LOL

Dear Renu,

It is said, 'manaivi amaivadhellAm iRaivan koduththa varam'. Sounds fine.

But, I used to think 'Can't a lady get a good husband even IF God gives a boon?' :D

dear RR ji,

We all get the partners best suited for us to work out our Karmic debt.

So good or bad spouse is part and parcel of our karma.

But since we also have a free will we can decide on how to "handle" our spouses!LOL
