I am subramanians59 based in Mumbai working fo a power company. I have been in this place for about 30 years and basically I hail from Kerala , near Kalady the bith place of Sreesankaracharya. I was educated at the Sri Ramakrishna Mission School at Kalady and is an Engineer by profession. My interest is in understanding the religious significance of our practices which are based on certain fundamentally good emotions. In thecourse of my life when I have not been a keen religious person to begin with and then peppered with the knowledge based hearings of our ancient texts with simplified meaning, and added advantage of languages of tamil and Malayalam, my curiosity grew as I aged. I would like some discussions in these areas a nd o the best of my belief, there has been many a practices became modified to suit the foreign ruling conditions the country had faced in the past.
I have also seen much connectivity among the immediate circles where I live and therefor, I chose to interact thro this medium to the community members to which I have been blessed to have been born in.
I would request hear from like minded members to takee forward this relationship after this brief introducation. Thanking you,

Good Morning to everybody. I am Sundaravalli born at Nagerkoil, studied at different places.
I have a fair knowledge of Tamil and Malayalam. My father and mother are from Thiruvananthapuram.
My father was serving in Army as Sub-Maj in ASC Core and I am now settled down in Chennai.
I have 3 daughters and all of them are married and I have grand daughters too. While going
through the Web, I happened to come across the Tamil Brahmins forum and I find it very
interesting and hence, I desired to become a Member of this forum. I am thankful to the
administrator and others.

Couple of years back ! - You must have dismissed it as some "Sambar Saadam & Appalam"
or "Thayir Saadam & Maa Vadu" bunch.

Actually, we can also handle Pizzas & Garlic Bread, discuss about Pop & Rap, drive fast cars,
pump the iron and give those Bobby Khans & Sunny Kapoors a run for their money.

I am very proud to be part of this forum. I came from a village Sathanoor near Aduturai (the birth place of Thirumoolar). I am about to retire from railways, and with my wife wish to involve my self with thambraas for the aheading years. I am 58 years old and settled in Chennai.We are the followers of Kanchi Mutt and ordent follower of Poojya Sri MAHA PERIYAVA.My wife and I wish to spend our time mostly in religious Sath sangam. Our hobbies are reading religious books and hearing upanyasams and vedagoshams. With kind respect I request this sathsangam (tamil brahmins) to allow us for any good activity.

Our ancestors had found through their spritual power so many things but we are deprived of that learnings.

Hi all,
I hai from tamil speaking community of south india. i bumped on this web forum from my search for some violin piece by Madurai Mani Iyer. Over the past few weeks in addition to listening to some collections through this website, i find some literature related articles intriguing.
i am hoping to learn few notes in carnatic music and understand few ragams. I am an ardent fan of carnatic music having learnt in childhood. As u know music transcends language. Reading western notes is my plan for 2012-13. catch

Hai, I am Ganapathi Subramanian, Born and brought up in Tirunelveli. I did my Engg. from PSG Tech. Coimbatore. I am working with Indian Oil Corporation. I am obcessed with Carnatic music and a great fan of Bombay Jayashri and Maharajapuram Santhanam. Presently I am staying in Hyderbad.
