Hello all, I am one of the younger generation (20 years old now) and my post here proves that us young English educated modern society folks to read forums like this :)

I am not a "proper" Tambram, in that I lack nearly all of the characteristics you might normally expect to see in one (I don't even eat south Indian food!). Being born in a multicultural family is a big reason for that. However, formally I am a Tamil Brahmin by descent. I have a rudimentary understanding of Sanskrit, can speak enough Tamil and am very good with Hindi and English.

I'll be mainly reading, but when I do post I'll just state bluntly and candidly what I think. I do not wish to hurt anybody but I do believe there are areas where the traditional Tambrams can improve/change. Of course I might myself be wrong about a great many things; so I am open to discussion.

Dear young friend,
Welcome to you.
I am happy to see a young man in this forum. I shall be happy to interact with you whenever you post. When I was young I had great apprehensions about many of our practices. However, I could understand the purpose of some of them and could change my views. Basically, whatever denomination you may belong, you should be humane enough to appreciate fellow human beings of whatever strata or stage in life that they may belong.
Contrary to popular belief, there are greater avenues to develop this attitude by being a Brahmin and getting exposed to many of our older practices. Be open. You can see and visualize all the good.
With regards, K.Kannan
