hi amala garu....

sometimes women need more experienced men than a raw material....but men always want ONLY VIRGINS....LOL

Ha Ha Ha..men think that they are experienced but they dont know that one can not be one's own judge!
I can safely say that Indian men are the most obsessed with virginity when it comes to Indian girls but if they are marrying a Non Indian like an oriental or westerner that time all this Virgin Mannangkatti will fly out the door and the same guys will say 'Oh I do not view a girl as chattel...I view her as a human and I love her for herself"

So TBS garu..nowadays Indian girls are not dumb to take all this cock and bull from guys..so what is good for the goose should be even better for the gander!LOL

When we love someone we only see Love and nothing else.

After all King Shanatanu did not feel like he was an Ilicha Vaiyyan when he decided to marry Sathyavati very well knowing she had even delivered a baby (sage Vedavyasa) with her union with Parasara Muni.

He just wanted her badly even till the extent to give in to the demands of her father which finally let to Bhisma giving up his right to the his rightful throne.

So guys..no where in Mahabharat was Shantanu called an Illicha Vaiyyan and dont think that there is a consolation in the story which goes that after Sathyavati delivered Veda Vyasa her virginity was restored..you see the act of sex and delivery happened..no one can deny that....so most probably she got some divine hymen repair done..so same way..if anyone want to restore their tissue they can do so surgically these days.

I don't think in today's generation people believe in sacredness of the marital knot!! It's now all about chemistry and deal alone.

I personally believe that, more than the sacredness of marriage, the human feeling of "you-and-me for each other" makes a deep sense and matters a lot when two people join hands for life, sharing everything under the Sun.

In marriage, couples unite with their mind, heart and body and make a wholesome union for a contented life through out with a feeling of reasonable possessiveness, commitment and contribution with all dedication towards spouse.

As such, people are many who don't succumb to their temptations and refrain from physically dedicating one self to a person before they get married.

Isn't all that sacred to you?

Many associate "sacredness" with the Religious doctrine only. Human emotions and morality are considered out of religious context.

Thus was my post no.3474, referring to your usage - "sacredness of marital knot" where I said, Human emotions and moralities are not just personal alone BUT are inter related among the humans and that, for me these are more significant than such religious sacredness.

i am a new member ... my pravaram name is Vaidyanathan although my name is Ravindran for loukika purposes; i am proud to claim that i am a "practicing" brahmin, doing my nithya karmas and chanting rudram and chamakam daily and of course visiting the local shiva temple daily. i am presently residing in Bangalore.

Practising is the most sacred and stipulated sanctity instead of/inaddition to feeling sacred over religion .conviction is important to realise the sacred .Request for my fellow brahmins to ponder over this [I tell this to myself many times am in the practising mode for years.not telling anything new but only emphasing.......

Hi from Visakhapatnam

I'm Ganesh Sharma from Vizag, Andhra Pradesh. I've been living in Vizag for over 4 years now. I came across this group online when I was looking for a vadhyar to conduct my father's monthly rituals - he passed away just recently on June 9, 2013. In keeping with the moderator's advice, I will reserve my questions for a different post in a different forum ; for now, I will leave it to my introduction. We're Palakkad Iyers from Bombay, having lived all of my growing years there. Work took me to different places and I now live in Vizag. It will be good to connect with other like-minded people from my community here.

Regards

Ganesh

Shri Rajaram,

Why do you think only south indian brahmins should learn (properly) and chant sri Rudram n Chamakam every day? Why not others also?

The Rudraprasna is essentially one that first expounds a rudra whose anger (manyu) is sought to be appeased through the prayers contained in the 11 anuvākas of the praśna. camakapraśna prays for a host of material benefits, most of which will be unwanted and unusable for anyone, including a brāhmaṇa, today. So, how can we be sure that "iha saukhyaṃ" will be achieved by following your advice?

My father who lived up to the ripe old age of 92, and was a born Tamil Brahmin, used to recite, daily rudraṃ and camakam and do the devapūja at home for many, many years. He was afflicted with dementia, paranoia etc., as he grew old. Plus he had to see some tragedies like his daughter becoming a widow. So, is there any confirmed guarantee or any "no loss return" for such advices? Is it not merely a case of your imagining that -
1. you have learnt rudram camakam properly,
2. you are chanting these two daily,
3. so far, things are not going bad for you and your family members,
4. so you think of advising others?

Dear Members,

I am manikandan, born and brought up in Chennai. Happy to be a part of this Forum. I will try my best to contribute, learn, understand, discuss with all your elites about religious and spirituality.

Dear friend,

I think you were in an offensive mood when you replied. Whenever we talk about God, religion, rituals etc we should try to keep our mind as calm as possible. If your life experiences about Sri Rudram were not that good, you could have simply ignored my thread instead of critically analysing that Great Prasna of VEDA. I am proud to tell you that I am a Sri Vidya Upasaka and cannot stand such unwanted criticisms. Well! let me close it here with one small note : Millions have benefitted of Sri Rudram.

But i have never posted any thing on this. I have a great respect for our VEDAS, which have no equivalent. In fact even though i cannot recit the same i make sure to listen to the same very often. I am believer in LORD SHIVA and can never even thing of utter or even thing of any thing to the cotrary. There must have been something wrong.
