Dear Srimathi VRS Madam,

You said:

All Germans don't act this way. The German culture, as far as I know, does not support this act. I often wondered what I would have done, living under the monstrosity of Hitler's regime, which swept up the entire country under it's iron grip. I always have doubts about my own bravery to be able to stand up to such a regime.

Actually, I feel sorry for them. They are forced to live with the guilt and shame, just because of weird confluence of world events that produced a mad man to become their dictator. I feel the same way about the Japanese.

Yes, the cultures were the reasons for the happenings, but cultures don't happen in vacuum. They happen because of the circumstances of a people, that go back to their roots. In the development of the modern, they change, either for good or bad - we can see it in our own TB culture, undergoing tremendous changes today.

Regards,
KRS

I know we can never argue or convince
mad people and morattu musudus!

visa,

i just chance read it now, and it appeared to me that you are referring to KRS as one with whom 'we can never argue or convince mad people and morattu musudus'... had a good laugh over it, knowing you meant something else.

but what did you mean anyway? :) i am still confused..

Dear Mr. Kunjuppu,

I am happy I could make you laugh - even though it was not in my agenda! :)

Here is a portion of #22 by Sri K.R.S,

My comment was about the real life Hitlers (with or without mustache)

with whom one can never argue or make an impression or try to change a decision.

In Tamil they say

muthalaiyum moorkkanum kondathu vidaa! :croc:

I am fortunate enough to know a few such persons in real life! :fear:

Dear Sri Kunjuppu Ji,

Knowing Srimathi VR Ji, like I do, I never thought that her statement was towards me.

But knowing myself, like I do, I had a suspicion that it was towards me! :)

Regards,
KRS

dear Mr. kunjuppu

Sri K.R.S has addressed my as V.R.S madam in #22.
I too had a good laugh trying various expansions for this!

the 'madam' part ? ;) hahaha..it has quite a different connotation here in canada (dont know about the usa)

thank you thomas babington macaulay :)

Dear Sri KunjuppubSir,

I attended a 'Mofussel' college, where English was taught in Tamil! What can I say? See, we all are born in to these! :)

But, I still do not know why I said 'VRS' instead of 'VR'. May be 'Super' or 'Sincere'? Madam, of course, I used in it's classical meaning as 'ma'am, not with our current North American connotation!

English, for a 'mandu' like me, I am finding out, is a dangerous language! :)

Regards,
KRS

My father's famous quotation was this:

You are not what you think you are! :nono:

You are not what I think you are! :nono:

you are what you think I think you are.

So applying this rule both Sri K.R.S and me V.R.S are safe!

So that is how the extra R appeared in my name.

Rhymes and reasons run deeper than we think! :thumb:

Dear Mr. Kunjuppu,

I do not know what is the significance of 'madam'.

I won't even bother if i am labelled as mad dame.

Madness borders geniuses and fools alike. :)

I meant the VRS part and I just figured it out myself.

dear Sri K.R.S,

We the five siblings had the good fortune of studying in a small village Panchayat school followed

by the colllege education where everything including English was taught in Tamil.

Somehow all these did not deter us from reaching greater heights (if we can call that) than most

others. Must be because of the genes passed on by our brilliant parents and grand parents!

English can be tricky, treacherous and dangerous.

That is what makes it so interesting in the first place!!!

Who does not want to take credit for taming a shrew???

VRS is offered to some, thrust on some and preferred by some.
Companies when downsizing do it. Some companies get rid of unwanted and troublesome executives. Some embrace it voluntarily to pursue their ideals.

Dear Sisters,

Actually, 'b' is for 'blank'. 'b' is also for 'bad' when it comes to my editing skills before I post something! Sorry.

Regards,
KRS

Dear Sir,
We would prefer b to mean beautiful and
brilliant rather than blank and bad.
English gives us so much scope for speculations! :clap2:

You are right sir!
It was preferred by my better half (!)
He was offered it willingly (!!)
Now he peruses his two ideals since 1994.
:ranger: and The Hindu!

One thing is certain.

No housewife will ever be either offered it or have it thrust it on her
even is she prefers it and longs for it with all her heart.

The reason...???

The unnecessary, unwanted and troublesome aides are got rid of
so that she can take over all their portfolios
which means that she will never be the one to enjoy VRS! :pout:

Except when the hubby takes a vrs and offers his wife vrs as a gentlemanly gesture.

My classmate after a decent working life in many countries retired and settled in S.chennai. His children are married and settled all over. His wife about 60, an old time maths/science graduate has taken off to USA to do a doctoral programme. He is at loose ends and can't make up his mind to stay put in chennai and lead an astika life (his goal) or to follow her.
