Pranams,

Mother earth enjoys unique features rather than other planets with human life, more air, abundance water, sun light, moon, animals with nature yielding food for consumption.

Geographically we in India, have Himalayas and River Ganges to our credit with dense forests and have four seasons

Historically we have rich culture and tradition, etc

Going through the Legends, it is said that

1. Alalasundaram, (Sundarar) an ardent devotee of Shiva at Kailasa, got attracted with two maids of Goddess Parvathi and for this act, he was cursed/banished to be born as a human being,
2. When Great sage Durvasa arrived at the assembly of Narayana, no one noticed his arrival as they were all very curiously hearing the discourse and seeing that he was not paid attention which he deserves, he seemed to have cursed them to be born as human beings
3. Urvasi was cursed to be born on earth by the Sun God for the sin of obliging to keep on memory the image of Varunan,
4. Narada was cursed by Dakshabrama for the fault of not concentrating and for paying attention towards the apsaras..
5. Yama was cursed to take birth on each in the womb of a woman who will be .
6. Goddess Saraswathi was cursed by sage Dhurvasa to be born as human being , which caused the reason for establishment of Sarada temple at Sringeri

Almost majority have suffered curses to be born on earth as human beings, not to speak of others who were cursed to become stones, animals, trees, etc. etc

While we value that mother earth as the crown of Gods creation, believe that we are blessed to be born as human beings and enjoy our existence with nature here, it is strange to learn that the very same earth was used then by Sages to punish the erred one.

The devalogam seems to have enjoyed more superiority with Gods, Devas, Kamadhenu , Karpaga Vritsham, etc

Is it the fate of earth? I believe living in known earth is better than unknown heaven. I love life in earth. How about u?

Hanuman rejected persistent offer of heaven; he chose to remain on our earth and sing/ listen to ramakatha with tear filled eyes. Many azhwars and nayanmars preferred life on earth; kailash or vaikuntam had nothing to offer for them.

If you are good to others under any circumstances, the others will think that life is a blessing. Otherwise, you and life will be considered a curse. Again nobody wants to see others suffer because the suffering (not other's suffering) is itself a suffering. All said and done, if you do not suffer in life how are you going to enjoy life.

Omitting the various Puranic & mythological references, "Life" in earth, itself is a mystery, but it is the only thing we have experience of. At the same time Nature (God, if you so like it) also makes it 101% clear that none of us can even hope to be here for ever or even for periods like 500 earth-years, say. We are all visitors or tourists on temporary visas here and all of us have to say our irrevocable "good bye!" one day. And that will be the end of the whole show, at least as far as human knowledge can say today.

So, there is not much point in discussing this topic or issue. For some people, this life will be more of blessings, while for others it will be more sufferings. What each one of us can and should strive to do is to lessen the sufferings of others and try to make this world as one of blessings for all. lokāḥ samastāḥ sukhino bhavantu should be everyone's pro-active motto. Then this world will become a paradise.

Very well said Sir!

If people are happy when they find others happy, world will be a paradise, indeed!

Westerners are looking for 'utopia'. We are longing for 'ramarajya'. Even Rama had several gossip mangers in his kingdom.

This statement is attributed to our former president Dr. Radhakrishnan. It rained when he visited the white house; president kennedy commented - it is bad that we have inclement weather causing you discomfort. Radhakrishnan replied - We can't avoid bad things happening, but we can change our attitude to bad things. Kennedy was 'vowed'.

Very well said Sir!

Dear Sir,

You are right...earth is better...you know why?

You see the beings in all other Lokas seem to have anger management issues and keep cursing and cursing and cursing everyone!LOL

My answers are in blue:

1. Alalasundaram, (Sundarar) an ardent devotee of Shiva at Kailasa, got attracted with two maids of Goddess Parvathi and for this act, he was cursed/banished to be born as a human being,

Here on earth..any ardent devotees can have more than 2 maids and keep staring at their waist when maids clean the house and even if the wife curses her husband..her curse wont work!

2. When Great sage Durvasa arrived at the assembly of Narayana, no one noticed his arrival as they were all very curiously hearing the discourse and seeing that he was not paid attention which he deserves, he seemed to have cursed them to be born as human beings.

Here on Earth when a person is in love and wants to marry a girl or boy..they wont pay attention to anyone words and still no one will curse them..even parents will blame their own Karma only and not curse the children.

3. Urvasi was cursed to be born on earth by the Sun God for the sin of obliging to keep on memory the image of Varunan.

Here on earth..some people are married to one spouse but also have chinna veedus and chinna veedans and still even the Sun's rays will fall on them...no curse.

4. Narada was cursed by Dakshabrama for the fault of not concentrating and for paying attention towards the apsaras.

Here on Earth bhakthas can go to temples and look at girls and even Istha Dev in the temple on earth wont curse them.

5. Yama was cursed to take birth on each in the womb of a woman who will be .

Imagine even Yama the Dharmaraj who is the God of Death and Justice itself can be cursed..so Deva Loka is not a safe place to stay...out here any Adharmaraj can trouble others like Kantaka Shani and even Police will be scared of him...so Earth is better!

6. Goddess Saraswathi was cursed by sage Dhurvasa to be born as human being , which caused the reason for establishment of Sarada temple at Sringeri.

Harmless pure Sattva Sarawati too can be cursed..so tell me? people like us humans will be treated badly in Deva Loka..here we can be King!

So...better stay on Earth.

Jai Bhumata!

Respects to all,

The soul in its eternal journey longs for comfort and comes to 'mother earth' and let us assume for a minute it is born as a human being. Upon completion, depending on the karmic actions the soul is either exalted to the higher Lokam or downgraded to a lower birth like an animal etc. The cause and effect flows flawlessly and we are unable to realize this.

In the case of Devas they are in a position to realize this happening -as they are evolved beings who can have a quantum body and mind capable of being in multiple arenas at once, merging time to eliminate past, present, future etc., - they are in a position to see the 'curse' or the CAUSE that creates the EFFECT. Take away the story component behind all the above like who is looking at who's waist etc. You see nothing but cause and effect.

Now look at this human existence. Human beings are guaranteed of mental, physical and emotional suffering. We are guaranteed to get old. Noyum Paayum thaaan thunai. Is this life really worth it. And we are so happy with eating, elimination and sleep and gossip and all the nonsense that fill our minds all the time.

So let us take the essence of the so many stories above and try to practice the morality and core content in THIS lifetime. As Variyar Swamigal used to say, Ukkarum podhu Muruga Muruga, Padukkum podhu Muruga Muruga Nikkum podhu Muruga Muruga Urangum podhu Muruga Muruga.

Dear Renu,

You have to add a few more points like:

1. Guys can go molesting girls and no punishment due to a curse will be given!

2. Even pitrus don't curse! (as per posts by revered members in another thread!)
3. There are computers on earth, to give lots of HOT links for those who wish to enjoy at home! :ranger:

4. Perhaps there are no 'kuththu' songs available in other lOkams!

5. 'Kudi magangaL' can enjoy buying their stuff - age NO BAR!!

So, earth is  for most of the humans!

Mam,

While there are lot of good things happening around us every day in this Kharma Bhumi, as has been mentioend, there are negative things also taking place under the sun. I pray Almighty God to bless me to do good deeds and thus reap good things in my life at Bhu loka.

Thanks & With regards

Dear Balu Sir,

Yes! Let us believe in karmA theory; Thank God Almighty for all the GOOD he has bestowed on us! :hail:

Let us lead a life helping others in need; And always try to be happy to see others happy!

Good life will give us a good next birth, in case we do not get a permanent seat in the Heaven!

Sir,

Pranams,

Rightly said Sir. It is, will of the God, that I had trials and tribulations in my life and He blessed me with enough strength to face the challenges and to lead a peaceful life. I enjoy my life thro His blessings.

Heaven means uninterrupted indulgence.

Hell means interrupted suffering.

In earth there are both pleasure and pain,
as well as indulgence and suffering.

But the added advantage is that a person
can decide what he wants to do.

He can strive for aatma dharshan and liberation
which the people in the other two words cannot do.

That is why when the people in heaven are cursed they have to come down
to the earth to do penance and get rid of the sins they had committed.

They can't do it anywhere else.

Dear Sri Balasubramani,

Every day when I wake up in the morning I realise that "I am" awake this is followed by all other thoughts. This is happening to "me" from the day I realised I am 'living' in this world all other things are chain of experiences that happen and go. For me heaven and hell are just descriptions and happiness is a state of mind.

This is also possible in this Earth!!

A family dispute between two wives of a person turned bloody with one wife attacking the other and biting her ear off at Kalamasserry.

Probably that husband is more luckier!!!

I am not a pessimist, though my family will disagree with that statement.
Life on earth is blessing for who?
Did we take birth? Was it by our design?
The universe is here and will be here and our life is mear speck on the time horizon.
Who cares what we achieved in our life time?
What are we speaking in this thread?

Dear Prasad Sir,

1. No comments!

2. For those who have more happiness and less problems!

3. Some think our karmA in the previous birth decided this birth.

4. So what?

5. Who else? Our near and dear ones!

6. What we wish to convey. :blah:

5. It might be true for a short time. Again in the long run no one really cares.

I got a reply wow!!

Nice thought, sir. But are there not other places and experiences to aspire for?

Ivvulagam and avvulagam have always been in our dharma, life and actions.
