The desi howitzer, christened Dhanush, can outgun the original Swedish Bofors 155mm artillery gun in range, accuracy, reliability, shoot-and-scoot capabilities

NEW DELHI: This is one 'Make in India' defence project that is now finally booming. The desi howitzer, christened Dhanush, can outgun the original Swedish Bofors 155mm artillery gun in range, accuracy, reliability, angle of fire and shoot-and-scoot capabilities.

The Army is now getting set to induct the first battery of six Dhanush guns, which will be the first 155mm howitzers to be acquired by the force since the infamous Bofors scandal torpedoed all its artillery modernisation plan ..

Make In India is a good and well meaning initiative. But whether the government at the Center and in States are fully geared in terms of infrastructre, sound hassle free policies etc. is a big question mark. This new initiative must be implemented in such a way that it does not cause unnecessary hardships to the common man. The classic example of how people are made victims rapid development could be seen in cities like Bangalore.

Rafale deal: France's Dassault Aviation likely to enter into JV with Indian firm

rafale-afp-1.jpg

Last month, India and France had agreed to get into contract for 37 Rafale jets in fly-away condition keeping the critical requirement of the IAF in mind
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NEW DELHI: The multi-billion deal for 36 Rafale fighter jets could see French defence major Dassault Aviation entering into a joint venture with state-run HAL or any private player to set up a base here for augmenting its existing production line.

Defence sources said such a step, if taken will not only allow the French firm to ramp up its production rate but will help it to meet offset obligations in India, likely to be 30-50 per cent of the sales value.

It will allow Dassault Aviation to set up manufacturing facilities in India to augment its existing production line in Merignac in France under a joint venture with HAL or a private player of its choice. From the operation and sustainment perspective also, creating of these facilities will help the IAF, the sources said.

Considered as the first major push under 'Make in India' category in defence sector, the approach will also mean that the French company would stand a better chance in case the Indian government decides to go for more Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft later than the initial 36 agreed.

Balaji,
Can you compare your post#14 with subsequent post?
What gives you the new optimism?

Prasad Ji,

I stand by my posting No.14.

I have knowledge about the scams that took place during the NDAs regime during 1998 – 2004 led by the BJP.

This is what I conveyed in my posting No.22.

“Let us hope that our Government also keeps up its delivery of ‘Achhe din’ and have know-how or expertise and build our own indigenous better planes in the near future:-)

Now I would like to share excerpts from the news report published under caption:

'India's Need of the Hour to Become Manufacturing Hub,' Says PM Modi in

Berlin: Highlights

Here are the highlights from his speech:
· India was a part of the Hannover fair this time.
· I went around and visited many stalls at the Hannover Fair with Madam Chancellor.
· We are like Hercules in our own backyard but when we go out in the world, we know where we stand.
· One technology can be used in various fields and Indians are an expert at this.
· Our mothers and sisters make pizza, Chinese, Mexican dishes, even if they give it an Indian touch.
· We are experts at giving our own touch to things.
· It is the demand of our times that India become a manufacturing hub to continue on the road to development
· India was slave when Industrial Revolution took place. But when the IT revolution came, we were ready.
· Our youth has astonished the world in IT revolution.
· They are showing India the world through mouse and keyboard.
· Even in Germany, Indians contribute a lot to the society.
· These people can be a bridge not just between India and Germany but where we are and where we want to reach as a nation.
· We need to stress on agro-processing; need to get technology into the agriculture sector.
· India needs balanced growth. We need to balance 3 things - agriculture, manufacturing and service sector.
· Sikkim has become the first Indian state to be known for it's organic farming. Now the doors for global trade has been opened for the state.
· What does India not have to offer to the world's service needs? India has the power to attract the whole world's service sector.
· Tourism is a $3 trillion business worldwide but India gets a very small fraction of that trade.
· Indian families staying abroad - can't they inspire 5 non-Indians to visit India?
· There are no greater ambassadors of 'Incredible India' than you are.
· India has everything that is needed to become the world's manufacturing hub. India has the youngest population in the world.
· Even for crying Indians have to depend on imports - the tear gas shells used in India are imported.
· Making India a manufacturing hub isn't just an economic programme, it the matter of our pride.
· Zero defect and zero effect, both are very important.
· In 10 years, on an average 2 km road was added in India. In the past 10 months, that average has gone up to 11 km.
