Dear Sis,

First find out how many members REALLY wish to meet one another and how many wish to shell out money! :becky:

For the locals it will be only the traveling expense and may be
the amount shared towards snacks/ food.
For the non locals travelling expense + lodging (in case there is no relative in the city)
+ the local travelling during the meet + the food+ the mementos + prizes for games.
But the fun people have is worth the money.
We can't get something for nothing!!!

My dear Raji,
Last year the meet was in Madurai.
The train is at an odd hour at night.
These people needed point to point transportation
with A.C (kuLu kuLu kiLu kiLu trip).
I stayed back so that at least my share of the expenses can be saved!
But that did not stop the others from taking 3 days off and enjoying.
The memento is a 18" diameter steel plate .
It will serve well for the Ethiopian-like community eating.
In fact I have two such plates.
Maybe I should give away one to each of my son's family since
they often share a plate of fritters or snacks or sandwiches. :grouphug:

I remember 'appAraiyyan' for paternal grandpa but doubtful whether it was 'ammAraiyyan' for maternal grandpa!

This is because my friends have not talked to me about 'ammAraiyyan's! Sorry Sir!!

My grandsons have come up with a convenient algorithm.
For grandparents on the mother's side, it is maa-thatha and maa-paatti.
For grandparents on the father's side, it is paa-thatha and paa-paatti.
It can also be
ammaa-thatha and ammaa-paatti.
appaa-thatha and appaa-paatti.

...... ammaa-thatha and ammaa-paatti.
appaa-thatha and appaa-paatti.
Many grand children do this. But some ammA pAttis don't want to be called 'pAtti' and hence the name 'ammammA' is coined! :thumb:

The first Q my son asked me when his daughter was born is, "ammA, would you like to be called 'pAtti'?"; I asked, "Why NOT?"

P.S: KLB children usually use the name 'ammammA' and tambram kids living in the North India call 'ammAji'!!

And I think 'thAthA' in Kerala = 'muththachchan'. :D

My D I L has an easy identification of her thAthA - pAtti s!

Madras thAthA - pAtti and Banglore thAthA - pAtti!

Yes! If a person really wants to meet a member of this forum,

it will be very easy when that person visits a nearby place!

At the outset, please excuse me for posting this info very very late.
It was a great great occasion to gather at Mam's Place with mouthful
items to consume. Perhaps a fresh hot Coffee will rejuvenate the Prof.

Balasubramanian

Dear Bala Sir,

I should thank all my friends who made it for the meeting, with sweets / fruits!

We shall try to meet again with more members in the near future. :)

Yesterday was the third anniversary of my joining here. :grouphug: So, what was special??

We had a pleasant meeting with two of my forum friends, who were willing to meet Ram and me! :)

Dear RR ji,

You should consider Politics as a career..I see you have the 'human' touch and you will be the people's politician.

Start a new Party and ask all forum members to join!

Political Advisor should be AM ji.

Wow !

She had a train to catch at 8 am and still found the time to post an update - at 7 am.
She's such a terrific person.

I'm all admiration for her.

P J Sir, you get 50% marks only! :D

Renu, Why do you scare me like this!

Thanks for the concern. Mama is doing well after getting sisurushai from all the lovely girls/ladies in the temple. It is I who is looking like something the cat-had-brought-during-the-night! :(
