Hi, Anyone from Singapore here.

Long time I was longing for a site like this and found this while browsing. We need this type of unity and communal form to protect our religion and community. I like and respect the guidlines and rules here. Great effort and good sense. I'm eager to get more friends through this form. I'm currently staying in Singapore. Feel free to send me mails...

Dear Members.

I am a new member in this forum and am happy to be a part of it. I am spending most of my time reading through invaluable posts. I have to admit I have learnt a lot in the last few days cocerning various issues. In fact, I was engrossed deeply in reading the hinduholocaust link that provided me with a better insight in to the "real" happenings of the past. When I recall what was taught in the high school history books, I now realise it was all but facts. Thanks all and I am sure I will start contributing in this forum wherever I can, asap.

See you soon!

Greetings to one and all...

It was and impromptu decision to register today. Brahmins as a community are known for scholastic debates and elucidation of the scriptures, but are rarely known for unity within the community.

Strength of conviction in our scriptures comes from knowledge of the same and grasping its intent. Without discarding the modern beneficial inventions and without being backward in today's society, but to follow the path of knowledge is the need of the hour.

My Name is Rajan Ramakrishnan, presently working in Mumbai, for the past few year i am drawing Lord Ganesh in various format, like that i have done around 350nos. in a simple pencil sketches, i would like to display all my drawing wherever i get a chance during some public functions, all my drawing are neatly laminated and it can be taken easily. I have no intention of money or any type of sales, its only to show all my drawing to public and give more encouragement for the childrens.
Some one sponsor for the display will be great.

sar,

welcome to the club. hope you partake in all our discussions.

i would just caution you against using this forum for political purposes. this exercise has caused dissensions here, as you can imagine.

advani is a politician, and all politicians have their own agendas.

i think, we should, here in this forum, focus on our commonality, and how we can help out our less fortunate brethren, and above all discuss our way through wading in the turbulent waters of these times. :) hope this is ok with you.

other than that, i look forward to your participation. :)

thanks kunjuppu,

i understand your earnest concern, sorry to have breached the norm.

shall refrain in future and shall discuss on topics which would help our less fortunate brethren.

thanks for your immediate prompt

thank you sar.

please do not look upon my caution as setting a limit on your participation.

we are humans and our interests spreads and changes with each day. with our personal growth comes constantly changing perspectives of the same issue. such is life.

my caution was based on past experience here. politics particularly when fanned by religious intolerance is divisive.

again, thank you for your understanding.

see you more here :)

Welcome TBS and am happy to note that you are from singanallur...

"hi Seshadri,
my full name singanallur venkatesa murali, many ppl call my first name as singanallur and im proud of singanallur family.my great parents/ grand
parents are from venakatesa iyer family."

Noted the above, but I do not remember much about the Agraharam since I left at a very early age. My father would know the details well... I think, now the Agraharam is mostly occupied by NBs...

Our house was in "Rettai Veedhi" and Ulagalandha Perumal Kovil was behind our house at a small distance. My grandfather was known as Seshaiyer/Seshapaiyer...

Shall ask my parents about venkatesa iyer family.

Regards,
Seshadri

hi
My grand parents were from Rettai veeddhi too. Near Ulagalandha perumal kovil too
My parents left singanallur very long back. Even some Vamana iyer called, my gand parents younger brother. I heard that some ' Radha' , a carnatic singer..very distant
relative for me.

Introduction & MIssion Statement

I am Sachith Anandan, born in a brahmin Iyer family, tho based on my neglect of all rituals, currently I cannot claim to belong to any particular caste or even any religion!

I do appreciate the preparedness of the brahmin community for higher life, tho such preparedness is not exclusively found in them alone. They are qualified for a life of yoga generally through their greater level of detachment towards material things.

In this village of about ~2000 people near Kumbakonam we at this Siva temple (Sri Sarguneswar Aalayam, Karuveli, 23 km from Kumbakonam, TN) have been working hard over the last 10 years to raise the spiritual consciousness of the people, apparently without much success. But now(December 2008) the "Vaazga Valamudan" group held a 4-day camp at this renovated(for the 2'nd time in 12 years at the cost of about 1 crore & it is a sadhu's paradise)temple, and I see its potential towards the elevation of the Tamil people (in particular) to a higher life .

Members of this group are also appreciating the potential of this place as a center for spiritually-oriented service to the community, and are beginning to congregate & integrate themselves with us. A small ashram-like structure has been shaping up here over the last 2 years, with 3 young ladies (age group 16-20) who are committed to a celibate life geared towards community-service as the way to self-realisation.

I as the mentor of these ashramites serve them in a variety of ways, including maintaining a modern computer center & teaching them English, Mathematics, Physics, Theoretical CS etc. just so their burden is lessened to some extent, while they struggle to detach themselves from the phenomenal world, even while they utilise it for that very purpose.

We are looking for people who are willing to dedicate themselves to community service as the means for self-realisation. A Trust fund is being shaped so that these members never have to go hat-in-hand during their life, tho they usually will be college graduates.

Love & regards,
Sachith Anandan
