Sir, I think this is a difficult task and will need lots of resources (manpower, equipment and TIME and money) to accomplish it in a PROPER manner. We are all scattered and in fact our identity has gone to a large degree. Moreover there is no will among our community- sorry to say this we are all talk and no action.

What you are told is exactly correct ,even though we are the people to rectify it.We must take certen steps to rectify suppose not please help those who are willing to do that.

How will you be conducting this ? How are you going to count the numbers of Tambrams who have had intercaste marriages? Do you consider them bhramins......

All the intercast brahmins were also counted and put in a seperate list.First we select volunteers those who are willing to do this very special work through out tamil nadu in various dist level.Any work is found to be difficult at the time of starting. Each and every brahmins must realise and come forward to stablise our community is not. some 50 years back only 5 members started a small chit funds for developing their trade in our tuticorin. Now it is one of the biggest financial institution in tamilnadu with 1000 of branches through out india. How it is happend because of their courage & united action

Yes Shri. Bhagavathy, I totally agree with your statements.
but chitfunds had begun to help the people at times of need for money (loan arrangement ) and some people as you will be knowing participate to increase the bid value , to get better returns. Now you have credit cards and chits are out of fashion.

Volunteering as Mr.Nachhinarkiniyan mentioned in one of the threads has not gained widespread importance in India , as people attribute the good social efforts to a political motive , rather than anything else.

Is it the reason why in many areas in TN , one can find dumping the garbage out from one's house to the neighbour's area when he is fast asleep , as if it was the border of his country !

The same analogy goes to the roads , with all great influence the muscular people always keep the roads in the streets they reside , clean but do not bother about the other roads in the vicinity !! A sorry state !

United action , what you say is possible only during times of crisis or when a community can no longer tolerate the atrocities done to them , the stage , leading to a revolution ! Till then believe me, very few will even bother if there's a burglary 3-4 villas away !
The truth about Fire can be best understood only by getting burnt !!

TAMBRAMS in other cities

I was very surprised to read about enumeration of TAMBRAHMS only in Tamil Nadu. There are so many outside tamilnadu, in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad etc. They still follow the traditions. I feel there is a need to bring in Tambrahms where ever they are, together in one fold.
Unfortunately, there are a lot , who are economically very backward. With the reservations quota increasing, a time may come when all seats everywhere are only for reserved categories.
I feel it is our responsibility to see that whatever help we can do to our brethren who are in need.
People among us who are running business, companies etc. may try to give some job for our community people who are dare in need.
I commend this topic for further discussion .
GOD BLESS

Intro

Dear friends,

Warm greetings to all!
New to this forum, am looking forward towards a mutual learning experience, regards, Subramoni

I welcome the idea of statistical enumeration on the following counts.
1. First, it will serve as a valuable database, that can be used for different purposes-
social, cultural, educational, economical, anthropological and even political.
2. It must be done on scientific lines, using latest statistical tools and models.
3. No element of bias shall be allowed to creep in.
4. If necessary, given the fragility and isolation of tamil brahmins over the past 60
years, this work will prove to be epoch-making and can be used as a weapon to
defend ourselves and to exert pressure on the powers that be.

I wish all the best for the initiative shown in this regard. I wish to associate myself actively in the proposed exercise, with one humble request. Like one of our friends told and many of us outwardly speak/behave, there is nothing to feel shy about being called a brahmin, provided we are as objective and prejudice-free as possible.
