WHERE YOUR LIFE STANDS
HERE ON EARTH.....
IT IS LIKE NOON IN YOUR LIFE.....

Because most of us do not have many more years to live, optimistically we are in the last stage of life can't take along anything when we go...

Spend the money
that should be spent,
enjoy what should be enjoyed, donate what you are able to donate, but don't leave all/much to your children or grandchildren, for you don't want them to become parasites who may be waiting for the day you will die!!

Don't worry about what will happen after we are gone,
because when we return to dust, we will feel nothing about praises or criticisms. The time to enjoy the worldly life and your hard earned wealth will be over !!!

Don't worry too much about your children, or about your grand Children; they will have their own destiny & should find their own way....

Don't be your children's slave.
Care for them, love them, give them gifts, but also enjoy your moments.... Enjoy your money while you can.

Life should have more to it than working from the cradle to the grave!!

60 and above is the time - don't trade in your health for wealth by working yourself to an early grave anymore.

Becoz, your money may not be able to buy your health...

When to stop making money?
Or how much is enough....lakhs, crores, million, ten million...???

think about it, you won't be able to take even one Rupee with you when you depart from this earth.

One day passes without happiness, you will lose one day.
One day passes with happiness,
& then you gain one day.

In good spirit,
sickness will cure...

In a happy spirit,
sickness will cure faster..
In high & happy spirits;
sickness will never come...

Above all, learn to cherish the goodness around... and FRIENDS... They all make you feel young & "wanted".....Without them, you are
surely to feel lost !!

Stress means the gap between expectations & reality.

More the gap, more the stress.

Expect nothing.... I learn't this very late
& accept everything....

Don't believe in Tit for Tat rule...
because we can't bite a dog who has bitten us...so don't spoil our level just to teach others.....

Moral......
"Think twice..Act wise.."

Learn to "LET GO"....
Because You cannot have the next breath until you let go the existing one..

God Bless you with Good Heath and Happiness

........... Don't worry too much about your children, or about your grand Children; they will have their own destiny & should find their own way....

Dear P J Sir,

Exactly the concept of Senior Resorts ( I won't say Old age Home!! :becky: ) which are cropping up like mushrooms!! :)

Friends and relatives will surround us only till we are also useful to them! :grouphug:

The days are gone when 'uppittavarai uLLaLavum ninai' was a motto! :ohwell:

Now an interesting episode!

An oldie has huge money and no children. When she crossed eighty, one of her nephews agreed to take care of her till her end,

if she allows him to inherit her wealth by writing a proper will! Done!! That guy is cursing himself because while all his siblings

are care free, he has already shelled out 50% of her wealth to take care of her because now she is 96 not OUT!! :thumb:

great post PJ sir

I mostly agree with what you have posted

enjoying life to the fullest, bonding with friends more than relatives,

being happy all the time without taking stresses are mantras for oldies

expecting nothing is fine but accepting everything I do not subscribe to it

also I have learnt to not exercise my brain cell much and act with gay abandon which stresses people around me more

than me. My risk taking capability has enormously increased . my logic , let others worry . I will live my balance years

doing what I love most.

in most situations of conflict, I laugh it off.to cool the tempers.sometimes I quietly quit the scene of conflict also. this is

effective in most conflict situations

aeyo. RRji is back with old age homes. It seems to be a special wish to be fulfilled by all oldies. lol
Old age home? :nono: Sir!

Do you want to know what my friends in Senior resorts tell me?

No tension; no need to run around to - purchase Avin milk card; pay the electricity bill
; search for an electrician / plumber
to set things right
; buy provisions; worry about servant maid. Last but not the least NO NEED TO COOK everyday!! :peace:

P.S: I wish to remove the stigma attached to senior resorts!! :D

the trick is to bond with all kinds of people crossing caste , religion, economic barriers and keep doing good as much as

possible. some by laws of probability will remember and put up with us.I have collected a huge circle all over india

as far as the old lady is concerned, she made a good deal and was wise in choosing a nephew who is honouring his

word of looking after her. many times strangers who are paid well are better than relatives as far as looking after senior

citizens are concerned. I have a lady of low caste whom I shutttle to various extended family relatives in delhi , chennai to look after relatives

who are in terminal stage. we duly compensate her for her services.

I spend my money to keep collecting middle aged maids for domestic duties and compensate them heavily much above

market rates so that I am never without two of them for help. one has to build a lot of redundency in families for

special care of senior citizen. it is worth the effort than getting into old age homes

you do not realise how easy it is to manage these.

all bills I pay online.

I have a data bank of plumbers and electricians available on call basis

I have two maids , one to wash the dishes and buy milk and another to cook.

cook takes care of the absence of the other maid and takes over the duties . when cook vanishes , I outsource and get

cooked south indian food home delivered using my driver

the redundencies I have built takes good care of me

it is a bit expensive .it is worth it. I do not look for brahmins for any services. I ensure cook is clean and well dressed.

I do not sacrifice any comfort. for 95 percent of my needs I do not have to go anywhere

I think my option is far cheaper than many coimbotore resorts.

Krishji,

Appreciate your choice..But for those who have serious health issues and are unable to devote time for household activities..For those who would like to take rest without getting bothered about household chores (arranging salt and tamarind), old age homes are the best option!

Dear Ganesh,

The senior resort had 60 as lower age limit a few years back and now I hear that many resorts have reduced it to 55!
So, some prefer to enter one of these senior resorts, after opting for VRS at the age of 55 and acquiring a sack full of money!

P.S: Those who have vitamin M forte like Krish Sir and patience to manage many assistants can accept his views!

I agree with your post.
It is the smart choice, and very practical.
one can enjoy living independently when you know there is a net below.
You must have financial resources to find a good resorts, and should be exclusive enough that you share with people of your own social circle.

When you are hale a hearty you do not need anyone. You do not need a safety net when you are performing on the ground. But ask a trapeze artist why they need the net? Similarly your wife may not like to do all that you like and when you are not there to take care of it, it would be helpful to your wife to be in a senior living home.
That is my observation. I have not had that leap of faith. I have not found the ideal senior living home yet.

You probably have no idea how little it costs to engage couple of middle aged uneducated unemployable ladies . ones I took were totally raw and we [my wife and self]spent some time

to make them learn to cook as per our taste.the greatest plus point is that we stay at our own home which we have made senior citizen friendly

our car driver is a luxury . he has other professional work assignments of my establishment in addition to house work.

the basic approach is to generate money thru arbitrage oppurtunities in shares and property and splurge the ill gotten[?] money on travelling to exotic places and

maintaining a decent standard of living with human resources which are easily available . the ones I take for work are not really employable elsewhere nor they can get a

deal I give them.

I do not manage servants . They have to take care of me and manage me.

I would rather trust them totally. so far They have turned out to be very responsible.unless they drop out out on their own I have no intention of losing them.

I have imposed my model of living in my sons place also where both he and his wife work. they also have the two maid model of living

I strongly believe educated ladies should make a career based on their education and rise to great heights in their profession . they should leave the nitty gritty of

running the home to those who are unfortunate to not get into better profession.all this talk of multi tasking by ladies is a lot of garbage. I would rather expect educated

types to do justice to their profession .

if people would really try ,it is pretty easy to turn talents into money. it is a good idea when one is physically old to engage educated people also to implement their

business ideas.I use simple terminal operators in share broking firms for help in investing. my properties are managed by online real estate firm on a retainership basis.

it is only trust only which is required.I got my flat in chennai painted using the real estate company and painters I know without going to chennai. previously my tenants

were my resources for anything I wanted in chennai. The girl tenants bought the furniture and furnishing for the house and beautifully set themselves up.

if one decides to trust people one can do only well.

you vganeji
the best place to keep provisions is in the provision store.

it is a matter of having a master list of minimal provisions on the computer and have max 4 weeks of supplies . the market for me is right opposite my home . I can send my maid

and get it collected or alternately get it home delivered by the store

my maids are smart enough to do the buying

Dear Krish ji,

Education and a profession does not mean one has to live and die in an office!LOL

Education and a profession is to provide a decent salary.

Getting anyone to do the housework still does not change how a person feels about her profession.

Even when I had a maid many many years ago..I still felt I needed to work less in my clinic..now when I have no maid and multitask..I still feel the same..I want to work less..not becos I have to multitask but the fact is I like enjoying being alone..the total "My personal time" where I can be myself and not a doctor..not a mother..not a wife..not a daughter..not anyone and just be myself.

This has nothing got to do with a person's career..after all how much satisfaction can career give a person?

I measure success not by being career oriented or home oriented but on how much time I get to be myself.

The day I can totally be myself and not play any other role in life..that is the day I feel I have attained success.

Right now I am playing multiple roles.

I understand your feelings
by education and salary ,one uses ones potential to maximise earnings.once we have earned enough , we can simply hang up and do what we desire to do in life

one can manage the kitchen if it is for personal satisfaction and not a compulsion.

personal space is always created by shedding tasks which can be done by person of lower academic accomplishments perhaps for a price as time at prime of ones life is

of great value

after retirement ofcourse , more time might be available

there also one thinking is we have very little time left in our lives so why not have a fling and try different things we have not been able to do all our lives

renukaji

My wife never went to work, although she was educated.

Bringing up the Children and maintaining Home is a very tough job; because of her only our son is now a Software Engineer settled in US, and our Daughter, a Doctor working in UK NHS

The whole credit goes to her only, i was only earning for Home..

your comments on safety net in retirement homes is worth reflecting on.

your desire to live in an exclusive resort with people of ones social circle and upmarket one also is a pipe dream

when we see resorts where senior citizens are forced to live only with others based on age criterion and the set belief that they should participate in community

functions of prayers, bhajans ,religeous discourses as is the case in most retirement homes in india irrespective of upper/lower class is a huge turn off .

old people should not be isolated from society . they should stay integrated until the last day of their lives . society owes it to them

Housing societies are available with swimming pool, tennis courts, golf clubs, community hall, garden, temple and what not. One can choose to live anywhere. One can remain 'turned on' by giving a wide berth to 'turn off'!

LOL! A fling could be a waste of time.

A fling is not dancing with one's self..its dancing with yet another person and yet another role!

Dear PJ sir,

Sometimes I wish home management was like an auto pilot machine where we stuff kids and spouse inside and let the machine handle them ..it will be much easier for us females.

In my next birth I want to be a snail..cos I can stay in my shell all alone..others need not bother me..snails dont have to look after spouse,kids,mama,machans..snails dont have to see patients....and snails can even gun themselves if they cant find a mate!LOL

What a weird wish Renu!

At least wish to be born where they don't eat snail soup / fry! :hungry:

Dear Krish Sir,

One of the seniors in our extended family does not do any poojA or chant slOkAs. He will visit a Ganesh temple once in a month.

He enjoyed his stay in a senior resort, without participating in any prayer or bhajan, for about ten years in his eighties! :thumb:

Choice of the resort is very important! :decision:

Time someone publishes a star rating system as for hotels and restaurants!
