Modi knows what he is doing and what he is saying.

This may be true, but the problem is that most others have no idea of these!

All this jumping by the media and sodalog will not make an iota of difference to the the new path the country is headed.

This is exactly the problem... and the danger, if I may say so.

Bash, bash, rajdeep sardesai style. Moral compass is in doldrum, and needle is in uncontrolled vibration. Modi speaks what he and majority of Indians think is relevant and inspiring.

All is well now that the Oracle of RSS has spoken, arise the children of the world. LOL
What a cock and bull story, You can not spin a web any better.
Just because you win election, does not make you GOD. Modi too is mortal and makes stupid mistakes, but he should not make unsubstantiated remarks as he happens to be PM of India.

Inspire by facts not by fabricated data.

I will be happy if some member knowledgeable in VEDANTA write about "Kaivalam Navaneetham' just for a change.
Our Prime Minister Modi has RSS background and he will definitely talk about different topics including about our Scriptures
We visit many parties where we are offered different type of foods. We just take the food of our choice and leave the rest for others who may relish the same.
We do not offer any comments about the food which we could not take & enjoy, while others who like it relishes the same.

If there is choice. For example what path to choose in religion, I can understand your stance.
But if the -ism religion forces me to only follow their way, one would not be happy.
Similarly if the school books are changed by the same -ism we should not accept it.

[h=1]Meet the new ICCR chief, Lokesh Chandra: Shubhajit Roy[/h]
He is fluent in 16 languages, has over 596 publications to his name, and was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2006 for “his contributions to academic life and public discourse”, but when Lokesh Chandra was appointed as India’s cultural czar Thursday, quite a few eyebrows were raised.

Why would the BJP government choose an 87-year-old Indira Gandhi loyalist, with links to leaders of the erstwhile Soviet Union, for its first big-ticket appointment in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) — as president of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the country’s cultural interface with the world?

The answer becomes clearer when Chandra begins to list the qualities that he admires in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For Chandra, Modi is a “man of ideas, not of ideology”; who from a practical point of view “supercedes” Mahatma Gandhi; who has made “a much more meaningful impact” on the lives of the poor than Karl Marx; and who is virtually an incarnation of God (“woh bhagwan ke avatar hain”).

Dressed in a white khadi kurta and dhoti, Chandra — who will head ICCR for the next three years — explains the reason for this big swing from a Congressman to a self-avowed Modi fan, in an interview with The Indian Express. “I have been a Congressman all my life. I was close to Indira Gandhi, I had personal relationships with several top leaders of the erstwhile Soviet Union. But for Modi, politics is only till the elections. After the polls, he is only thinking of the country.”
And that’s not all. “He (Modi) is very open in approach. He has never been vindictive. He rises above all political affiliations, and for him, national concerns are important. For the poor, he is like God. Unke liye, woh bhagwan ke avtaar hain (for the poor, he is an incarnation of God)… Look at his Jan Dhan scheme. Karl Marx wrote so many volumes on poverty, but what was his real contribution? Modi has made a much more meaningful impact to the lives of these poor.”
“Modiji”, says Chandra, “in some aspects, supercedes Gandhi when it comes to (a) practical approach.”
￾”He (Modi) kept a fast for nine days (during Navratra), and kept working, woh bhagwan ke avtar hain (he is an incarnation of the God). This shows he has great attachment to values, and India is based on a value system. He doesn’t have any foreign back accounts and black money. He doesn’t have a son or a son-in-law. For him, the country is his son and son-in-law. India needs such a PM.”

Chandra’s reply to another question – on some of his plans as the new ICCR chief – also provides enough clues to his appointment. He wants to connect India to south-east Asian countries through programmes based on the Mahabharata and Ramayana. He also wants to help “many South Koreans” trace their ancestry back to India.
￾”We can organise Ramayana and Mahabharata-based programmes with the south-east Asian countries like Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos. They have living traditions drawn from these epics,” says Chandra.
According to him, many South Koreans trace their lineage back to a princess from Ayodhya. “There are many South Koreans who have an Indian ancestry, we need to explore these areas,” he says, referring to the popular tale of Princess Suriratna who married King Kim Suro in 48AD.
According to him, at present 6 million Koreans with the surnames Kim and Huh from Gimhae, and Lee from Incheon, trace their ancestry back to this royal couple. He adds that the tomb of Princess Suriratna has a pagoda built with stones believed to have been brought from Ayodhya.

Chandra is a well-known figure in academic circles and, as the MEA states on its website, his “major life-work is the study of cultural interflow between India and the countries of the world.”

Yesterday I spent about half an hour in a local 'landmark' store. About 8 books 'Ganesh' by amar chitra katha were selected by kids of both gender, approved by adoring parents. In that time period not one copy of half girl friend was picked up though the the book was heaped and prominently displayed with 15% discount.

Whether modi effect or not, isn't better to leave such healthy decisions to parents and kids?

Be ready for more 'periods' with or without appointment. When pride in sanatana dharma culture is kindled many more with dormant and suppressed knowledge may blossom.

I agree that Modi is reviving several lost Hindu and Hindutva icons. May be he will be able to infuse them with freshly found breath and vigour as well. But imho, the net result of all this valuable effort will be only accentuating the long-forgotten schisms and highly parochial and anti-muslim feelings among the Hindus. This nation just cannot be managed in such a fashion. Unless caution is exercized and that too greatly, we will be in for a greatly unsettled period and any talk of "Super Power" etc., will be just meaningless. I think UPA with all its astronomical corruptions was a disease curable with Penicillin but this new dispensation looks like Ebola!

Of course the idea and reality of 'worm that turned' is not acceptable to many who have an inferiority complex and poor opinion of native hindu population. You must learn to accept that hindutva is not anti muslin or anti anything; it is self preservation and promotion, and anti everything that intents to destroy hindus and their aspirations. Since all false props of anti brahminism, anti hinduism and caste atrocities are all falling quickly, the psecs have started the bogey of anti muslim. Today the whole civilized world is anti- terrorist muslims of all hues and denominations. India has suffered in the past and the formation of forming an islamic state comprising bangladesh, west bengal parts of assam-UP-bihar is happening right in front of your eyes, visible if only you care to open your eyes.

Let us see how the nation moves in the next decade. ISIS can destroy a country in days and months. Hindus will not any help from outside as yazidies have learnt to their peril. Though a few may be wishing and waiting for that day, or a similar fate, sufficient number of people have woken up to react.

Let indian history be opened fully with its warts and merits, the good and bad deeds of all the rulers, hindu, muslim and christian. Why are you afraid of truth surfacing.

The history (not story, because people like to take everything in Mahabharata as gospel truth and nothing but gospel truth!) of Vyushitasva was told to Pandu by Kunti; Pandu wanted very much to father a son of his own, because he firmly believed that without a son born from his own semen, the gates of heaven would be permanently closed for him. The curse of the Rishi Kindama had not yet been pronounced but Pandu had great anxiety about his sexual ability, and so Kunti, knowing very well Pandu's desire for siring a son, tells this history and tries to build confidence in him.

"This story is narrated by Kunti to her husband Pandu in [Maha:1.121]. In ancient times, there was a King named Vyushitaswa, in the dynasty of Puru. He was a righteous king, ever devoted to the cause of truth and justice. He once performed a great sacrifice, which was visited by the best sages and the celestials. So drunk did the celestials, especially Indra become with the Soma juice in this sacrifice, that they started performing the sacrifice themselves.
Since the Gods had themselves performed the sacrifice for this king, his glory spread far and wide. He performed the great Ashwamedha (horse) sacrifice, to mark his conquest of the world. After this, he ruled over his subject justly. There was no hunger in his kingdom, no body did anything that was not proper.
The King's glory continued to increase and he performed various other sacrifices to propitiate the Gods, including the Agnishtoma sacrifice. He married Bhadra, who was the daughter of a king (?) named Kakshivat. This woman was rivalled the Apsaras in beauty. Tragedy struck them, and the king died of phthisis, brought on by sexual excess.
His queen, Bhadra was grief-struck. With the husband's corpse in front of her, she began to lament her fate. "O my husband", she said, "Women have purpose in life when their husband passes away. Their existence is miserable after the Lord of their life is dead. I cannot support life without you. May the Gods take pity upon me and strike me dead, so that I may join you in the regions meant for the virtuous. O King, you have fallen into the sleep from which none may wake, let the Gods grant the same boon to me. I shall lie down upon a bed of grass and abstain from food. May the Gods be kind enough to grant me a sight of you as you were before death, even if it merely for a moment!"
As she wept over her lord, an incorporeal voice from the heavens said in a booming voice, "Rise up, O daughter, Go to your apartment. I grant you this boon. You shall be blessed with offspring soon. Lie down with this corpse on you bed, after purifying yourself with a bath. Illustrious children shall be born to you." (Vyushitaswa and Bhadra - Indian Mythology)

She did as directed, and the corpse of her husband begat upon her Seven children, namely, three Salwas and four Madras.
This story is narrated by Kunti, extorting her husband to raise offspring upon her by his ascetic power."

I have given the Chapter and so please don't ask me for conclusive proof, etc.

By what medical procedure was Vyushitasva's wife made pregnant by his dead body and what conclusive evidence do we have for that technique?

You may also like to read the (true) histories and the medical miracles of ancient Bharat, as explained by Sage Vyasa in the true biographies of Uparichara Vasu, Girika, Adrika, Satyavati and Matsya, etc. We normally give opinions without (even) bothering to read our scriptures carefully. What medical miracle did ancient India have as concrete proof that births such as Satyavati's and Matsya's could have happened in the way described?

Dear Sangomji,

I was traveling the whole of yesterday (It was a 14 hour non stop flight) and landed a short while ago...

Thanks for sharing this amazing puranic story/history whatever you call it, I read this with awe & wonder! Definitely the people had some super natural powers by which these were enacted, mostly in the earlier Yugas (Satya, Treta & Dwapar).

Quoting the Sangam poet Avvaiyar" What you have learned is a mere handful; What you haven't learned is the size of the world"

We may get more insights about these acts/performances/miracles in future!

Sarangji,

I am not afraid of Indian history getting fully opened, etc., but I am only afraid that it will cause an extremely unwise way of making history repeat, at a time when history by itself had no plan to repeat. What was the net result of all the "warts and merits, the good and bad deeds of all the rulers, hindu, muslim and christian"? We became saddled with sizable non-hindu populations which control economy and increase their share of total population.

Our history is like a Pandora's box. Any attempt to open it up, out of curiosity or ignorance or lack of maturity of thinking, can only hasten our destruction. That is what I am afraid of, although personally, I can't hope to live beyond a decade from now and so it may not matter to me personally. My motto, in my flag, is श्रेयो भूयात् सकलजनानाम् ।
