Good 'search'! But there are also words like: madayan; moodan; kiRukkan; piththan and so on.........
The problem arises when you try mixing two languages to make a கலப்படம்..
With words like madayan, moodan, etc , the intention of the speaker is clear. But, when one uses driven ட்ரைவன், the intended audience may not be literate enough to be aware that he is being snubbed or that you are being class-conscious.
Here is an extreme example of transliteration fiasco. Take the word தீக்ஷிதர். If you transliterate it in English as Dikshit, like many in North India do, that spells disaster if a child having that as a last name is sent to school in the West, especially England and USA. Why?
That transliteration is a combination two words considered dirty in English.
I know of a girl who went to grad school in USA, with Dikshit as a last name when she first arrived. After a few months, she announced that she was changing her name to Dixit.
