Swami agnivesh said "The film is not against anyone’s sentiments". I too am an Hindu and very large number of Hindus are in the audience, who approve it.
A minority of thin skinned people take to hart, wearing their emotions on the sleeve, shout shrilly.

Go see the film with an open mind, (or even as an Hindu), dont try to see the actor's religion, see through your own intellect, you will see a clear image.
What is conveyed in the movie is not any different than what is said in Gurubani or Kabir Panth. There is no intermediary needed between me and my God. Most of the intermediary are fake and send you on a wild goose chase. Exposing this and other myth is actually education, not an insult.

But like the saying goes "bander kya jane Adarak ka swad". You need intelligence to understand subtle messages.

Yesterday it was Vatsyayana, today it is Swami Agniwesh, tomorrow….???

The law is mightier and will take its own course.

There is prima facie case hence the FIR has been registered.

Now it is left to the Court which will keenly hear arguments of both the sides, peruse the evidences, observe the witnesses, examine the points, analyse , apply mind and pass judgement.

As a law abiding citizen, it is just and necessary to wait for the outcome by refraining from issuing prejudiced statements.

As most members here know, I am an agnostic type, but a born Tabra. I completely agree with the views such as there is no need for any intermediary between a human and god; it is also correct to say, as the movie reportedly says, that we do not still know the god who has created us, but we have created ever so many gods of our own imagination, and so, which god to worship and how and why?

All such fundamental questions are very relevant, but my objection is that taking only the hindu religion was not correct and so I tend to sympathize with those 'elements' (left- or right-wing, etc.) who object to the screening of the film.

Let us also not forget that Aamir Khan is likely to use the money earned, to build up his own religion (not for the betterment of hindus, christians or of any religion), which is also an elaborate middleman complex between their only god and the devout.

Hence the best policy is to not throw away your hard-earned money and to wait till the TV channels show this!

'PK' Protestors, Shame on You
Ravish Kumar

(Ravish Kumar is Senior Executive Editor, NDTV India)

Opposition against films and attacks on theatres have happened in the past as well. Insults against culture and religion have taken place earlier also. All that is happening today with the release of 'PK' has happened earlier as well. Things that are being said today for and against the motion have been said in the past as well.

Whose fault is it? Is it those 'babas', who cheat people in the name of religion, or is it those who make films and dramas on such 'babas'? Haven't incidents which involved people who act like Gods in a world of mortals played out in real life? The things that self-declared religious and spiritual leaders like Rampal and Asaram have done: are they in accordance with the greatness of religion?

Those who tear posters of 'PK' - I ask, why don't they tear posters of such 'babas'? Do they consider themselves to be the protectors of people who cheat others in the name of religion? Should the protection of law be given to such organisations which masquerade as the protectors of religious belief? Who decided that these people are the representatives of true religion?

In 2012, the film 'Oh My God' had released. It is said that 'PK' is similar to 'Oh My God'. In 'Oh My God', the co-producer was Paresh Rawal, who along with Akshay Kumar, played a lead role in the film. Groups like Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal and according to media reports, even the women's group of the Punjab Congress, had organized protests against the film back then. BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, in a RSS meeting, had said that people were attacking Hindu Gods and Goddesses and she would raise the issue in parliament.

Back then, Ms Swaraj was in the opposition; she is now the External Affairs Minister. Actor Paresh Rawal is today a BJP MP and considered close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Back then, Mr Rawal had said that they had made the film after a lot of thinking. I too believe in God, but I am against all those dishonest means which are used to reach God, he had said.

The issue today is not about Paresh Rawal being a Hindu or Aamir Khan being a Muslim. The question is whether anybody is willing to stand up to question the wrongs being committed in the name of religion. In the film 'PK', questions have been raised about the theatrics surrounding religion, but it is not limited to a particular faith. In the end, the film teaches us, every religion says love one another and trust one another. Doesn't this make a religion better? Were all those leaders who opposed social evils such as child marriage, 'Sati' and untouchability disrespecting Hinduism?

If someone feels that the film has targeted only Hinduism, then they should watch Pakistan film maker Shoaib Mansoor's movie 'Khuda Ke Liye'. This 2007 film is even more direct than 'OMG' and 'PK' in sending the message home. In the film 'Khuda Ke Liye', Mr Mansoor has not taken the help of comedy. In fact, it has said that Islam cannot be measured by the beard of a Muslim (daarhi me deen nahee hota). There have been quite a few films and written works which have questioned Islam.

In the month of June, PM Modi had said that the government would like to free people's minds by getting rid of superstition and false belief. He had told medical students at a gathering at AIIMS that India should think about expanding technical and scientific knowledge.

The lifespan of faith and culture is much more than the ones who play politics in its name. It would be better if leaders and workers of such organisations watch 'PK' and oppose it with ethical reasons because that is their right. It is not correct to indulge in acts such as tearing posters and asking for a ban on the film.

While on the one hand, Hindi film “PK” is being opposed for allegedly depicting anti-religious scenes, it has received support from a section of saints in Haridwar.
Spiritual guru Shri Kalki Peethadheeshwar Acharya Pramod Krishnam today opposed in strong words the protest by Hindu outfits, particularly the Bajrang Dal, against the film screening.
Acharya Pramod Krishnam while addressing mediapersons here today demanded a ban on religious outfits such as the Bajrang Dal, which had been indulging in vandalism in the name of protest against Rajkumar Hirani directed movie “PK” starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma.
The saint said India is a land of Mahatma Gandhi, where peaceful, non-violent protests have been the mode to express one’s dissent, but the Bajrang Dal has been resorting to violent means of protest, which should not be allowed in democratic India.
Demanding a ban on the Bajrang Dal similar to SIMI, Acharya Pramod Krishnam said in India, all religions were respected and hence no one should be allowed to create division in our multi-cultural society.
The saint lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s working and said he wanted development, but some sections within the BJP were sowing seeds of division and communalism, which he needs to check.
“The movie “PK” is not against any religion, but is a statement against those who put on a veil in the name of religion. In fact, the Uttarakhand government should declare the film “PK” tax-free in the state. In this regard, I will hold a meeting with Chief Minister Harish Rawat to pave way for the tax-free provision,” said Acharya Pramod Krishnam.

The Supreme Court earlier had come to the film’s aid, clearly stating that there was no need to ban the film at all. SC had rejected the plea to ban the film, and instead asked viewers to “not watch the film,” if they had qualms with its sentiment and presentation!

“If you don’t like it, don’t watch the film. Don’t bring religious facets here,” said Cheif Justice Of India RM Lodha. He further added saying,” These are matters of entertainment. If you restrict it, it will affect others’ rights. Everything is on the internet. What will you hide?”

Where many social organizations seem to have problems with the presentation and the message of the film, the SC has brought forth a completely different point of view!

P.K. is quite an impartial film. It doesn't seek to taint any religion, but aims to expose the existing godmen culture in this country, or rather criticize it. Rajkumar Hirani doesn't employ a forceful approach to do this, but pokes at the subject gently, compassionately, understanding the barrage of questions he may have to face and works his way around them. It's not only a canny move, but also a necessary move.

P.K. doesn't belittle the concept of religion nor does it cherish it. It merely questions its persistent presence in one's life. The arguments it makes about godmen in particular are incredibly trenchant; in one scene, it beautifully accentuates the difference between God and "godmen," His messengers, apparently. It doesn't state overtly that every person calling themselves a "godman" is a scamming buffoon, but merely hints at the possibility of it being so.

Only because it speaks of "Hindu" godmen does not mean it is only critical of them. Nowhere in the film does the script address "Hindu godmen" in particular.

One might say that the "godman," who is the antagonist, being a Hindu character as is evident is only an example, and I don't believe it was intentional on the makers' part. You might have misinterpreted it. Ironically, this is also a point that the film raises repeatedly: why are the people of this country so touchy when the talk turns to religion, even the most trivial of details?

P.K.'s biggest strength is that it has a neutral protagonist to lead us, one who doesn't come with a religious background, which makes it all the more effective because there is no question of prejudices, then. OMG: Oh My God! had a Hindu lead character, and I'm curious to know why no one cared enough to question the background of the lead character there and try to change his religious identity. But it doesn't matter, because it was not aimed at a specific religion or its people. Nor is P.K.

P.K. is a film that every person, regardless of their religion, ought to embrace with an open mind. The magnitude of its impact and the depth of its reflective arguments will be comprehensible only when one puts religion aside for a couple of hours.
Does Aamir Khan's PK movie emphasize more on Hindu godmen & partial to other religions?

[h=1]Don't follow any religious leader blindly, says Dalai Lama[/h]Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Saturday underlined the need to develop an "investigative" bend of mind and appealed to people not to follow any religious leader "blindly". Addressing the international conference on 'Secular Ethics' in Nashik, Dalai said religious differences are borne by "retarded thoughts" and also stressed the need to develop a "holistic, six-dimensional" approach to understand reality. The gathering was organised by 'Indo-Tibet Mangal Maitry Sangh'.

"It is very important to develop an investigative bend of mind. Do not follow any religious leader blindly. Buddha said question and investigate a thought thoroughly, study qualifications of a guru or a leader, meet them, observe, till you develop a conviction that what the leader says can be followed. This is the Nalanda tradition and time has come that we follow it," he said. He said many problems in society arise due to short-sightedness or by looking at a view through only one angle.

"Acceptance of humanity should lie in the head and the mind. The reality however is much complex. It is necessary that we look through 6 dimensions or else we may fail to see the reality," he added. Dalai observed that enlightenment to Tibet comes from India and her inhabitants are "gurus" of Tibetans. "Tibet remains dark till light from India reaches it.

Historically, Indians are our gurus and we are chellas (disciples)," he said while taking questions from the audience on various issues. When asked about fundamentalism, Dalai said it would be ridiculous to assume that a particular religion teaches only conflict. "No religion is negative. Any religion that teaches people to live happily cannot be bad. There could be mischievous people in any of the religions but saying that their behaviour reflects the whole of religion will not be correct," he said while observing that faith is important though religions can differ.

The support of Pakistani media especially a known protagonist of ISI to PK has raised the hackles of Hindu outfits in India

The Pakistani TV channel, also believed to be linked to terrorist groups, was associated with a promotional event for the film in Dubai.

Officials regard reports of Pakistan-based ARY (Abdul Rehman Yakub) television channel being associated with a function connected with the promotion of the film PK in Dubai as "unfortunate", because of that company's perceived links with terror groups as well as with the state agency in Pakistan, which is the primary sponsor of such groups on the sub-continent, the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). Its founder A.R. Yakub was an associate of Iqbal Mirchi, who was wanted for the 1993 Mumbai blasts and was placed in the Specially Designated Terrorist list by the UN, the UK and the US despite his linkages with the Pakistan establishment. The channel sought entry into India in 2007 through an attempted partnership with an Indian company, which ran a Punjabi channel as well as a Gujarati channel. Their plan was to set up an "ARY Just for India" channel. However, intelligence inputs from R&AW about some of the promoters of this channel led to permission being refused. However, officials say that entry into the Indian market continues to be a high priority for the channel, and that it is actively searching for partners which would enable this.

Entry into the film industry would be a plus for a Pakistan-based company eager to expand the reach of its patrons into locations in India. However, as yet, no concrete evidence has emerged of a business link between the producers of PK and ARY, barring a function in Dubai reportedly attended by both sides. A BJP leader, Subramanian Swamy, has called for an investigation into the funding of the film, which hopefully will reveal more details than what is presently available. An official claimed that the channel "appears to have used the tax haven route to make investments in India", principally in Hyderabad and Mumbai.

ARY's affiliate in the UK, ARY Digital UK, found itself under investigation by authorities in London during 2004-05 on suspicion of being associated with hawala channels. Incidentally, the UK was the favoured domicile of A.R. Yakub, and it was in that country that he passed away last year. He became a billionaire through gold trading in Dubai It is not a secret that huge profits were made in that trade through smuggling of the precious metal into India during the period when there were severe curbs on legal private import of gold into India. Yakub was close to the Bhutto family and is suspected of having been a front for some of the money kept abroad of that super-rich political dynasty. He was also known to Mullah Omar, and is known by intelligence agencies in India of having assisted the Taliban, presumably on the request of the ISI. More ominously, the ARY Group was alleged by agencies in India of having provided funding to ULFA in Assam to enable the group to secure sophisticated weapons through Bangladesh, a country where ARY has extensive contacts, especially within the groups close to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, a known backer of Pakistan against India, but who is also a favourite of Washington. An arms consignment designated for ULFA was seized from two vessels at Chittagong port in 2004 after an alert from Delhi, but others are known to have got away. Interestingly, A.R. Yakub was close to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, the "father" of the Pakistan nuclear bomb and has been accused by agencies in the US and India of having been a front for the assets of the nuclear scientist, who set up a merchandise depot for sensitive nuclear technology before it was shut down because of US pressure.

ARY Digital and ARY Aurum Plus are some of the other businesses of the group. Its bullion business suffered a setback in 2005 when the London Bullion Market Association cancelled its licence after an investigation into a UAE-based affiliate. The investigation focused on allegations of money laundering, narco trafficking and terror financing, although details have not been released. Intelligence agencies in India warn that the group has extensive ties to the ISI. A senior official claimed that the group has "often facilitated the ISI in its global operations". A colleague pointed out that Yakub "was (alleged to have been) the intermediary between the Taliban in Afghanistan and tribal groups in Pakistan, theologically and operationally allied to that militia". Yakub was close to Pervez Musharraf. In 2002, former PM Benazir Bhutto was convicted on corruption charges for making ARY Gold the monopoly importer of the precious metal into Pakistan, from which country a significant chunk gets smuggled into India via the porous coasts of the two countries.

In the UK, group affiliates have been accused of assisting Taliban leaders to convert their cash hoards into gold, thereby converting illegal cash (often the proceeds of narcotics or terror operations) into a commodity freely traded in legal exchanges worldwide. Interestingly, Yakub had visited India in 2008, holding discussions with two Mumbai-based jewellers.

Should Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh accept Swamy's suggestion that a probe be launched into the funding of PK, hopefully such an investigation will also zero in on ARY, which has for years been active in India through intermediaries and cutouts, and which has extensive links that are problematic from a security standpoint. What would be interesting to find out is exactly who in the Indian establishment lobbied for ARY media entities to set up shop in India, before such moves were scuttled by adverse intelligence on the group. It needs to be reiterated that thus far, there has been no substantive evidence produced of any formal linkage between the producers of PK and ARY, and that the truth can emerge only after the suggested probe has been completed, if it is begun.

It just proves Hindus have not learnt to fight and vanquish the enemy. There are several precedences - satanic verses, DA Vinci code and recently viswarupam. Majority of Hindus still follow dharmic path, and so not as effective as the violent methods adopted by secular faith followers. Despite heroic first words, kamal had to bow down and delete scenes demanded by secular Muslims. The same Lila samson said that she will not allow scenes that allegedly hurt religious sentiments of minorities. About 4 minutes of a Kannada film have been cut now because it talks about destruction of temples.
There is another way to discredit pk and its gang. The film is financed by a Pakistan terror funder, who has a long tail of terror and fundamentalist links. If only there are hundred more subramanyam swamys and fast courts, most of anti India elements can be tackled by legal and public route. Verbose journalists and secular humanists may pipe down a little if dollar funding is choked.
Four more NGOs were blacklisted last week by RBI, 1000 more in the waiting list.

Censor Board objects over 'Macho Mustafa'

There are hundreds of reported news items on censor board bending in all directions to please the minorities.

You have seen Hiraan aka Macho Mustafa flaunting his packs on the posters of Reshmi Mitra's film by the same name. However, get ready to call him by a different name now as the censor board has objected to calling the film "Macho Mustafa".

"Mustafa is also one of the names by which Allah is referred to. So, to prefix a 'Macho' before Allah's name is being considered derogatory," says Reshmi.

However, Reshmi argues why hadn't the Censor Board objected when the posters of the film had been released. "It's quite surprising because we had released the posters long back. Now, when we are about to release the film, why is the CB having problems?"

Reshmi was asked to seek permission from the Imam if she wanted to go ahead with "Macho Mustafa".

"But I thought it best to change the name altogether as getting into a religious tussle just before the release might hamper the prospects of the movie. We have decided to change 'Mustafa' to 'Mastana'. It goes well with the subject of the film too. We are working hard now since we have to re-record the title track, alter the graphics and change 'Mustafa' on the posters to 'Mastana'. Will we be able to release the film by March 2? I'm keeping my fingers crossed," admits Reshmi.

Viswaroopam Vs PK a comparison..While Kamal had to apologize and make some cuts, Amir Khan is allowed to roam scot free despite speaking ill of the majority community!

Where do filmmakers draw a line between what's meaningful and meaningless cinema is hard to ascertain and this was evident at NFDC's knowledge series session dedicated to 'How cinema can be a tool for change'. The two-hour long panel discussion which diverted from the topic every second minute proved one thing - filmmakers feel harassed by the censor board which, they claim, restricts them from freely practicing their art of making more impactful cinema.

Screenwriter Jaideep Sahni of Chak De fame said, "Writers have for long undergone the self-censoring process as the censor board is never neutral and always wishes to modify or filter content. When you have a biased referee, you prefer to stay away from trouble. It's easier to get away with a nude or violent scene than portraying a political topic affecting people; for your film will be either struck down by the censor board or stoned at the theatres."

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj echoed similar thoughts when he said, "What's the point of a censor board when I received over a dozen (law) suits from different sections of society."

Reverting back to the topic of making a social change through cinema, Bhardwaj said, "A film brings up a topical issue for discussion, we express what we experience. A film is a mirror of society, it doesn't seek to make a change. If the films triggers a movement or articulates a thought like Haider did, then it does makes me happy."

Sahni added, "Sometimes we write about things that bother us even though it's not in the public domain. When I made Chak De, I was hoping that India's women's hockey team gets some recognition and a sponsor." Other panelists, screenwriter Urmi Juvekar and actor Vani Tripathi were of the opinion that filmmakers should take responsibility for their films even if they consider it to be their personal narrative.
?Censor board is like a biased referee? - The Times of India

Expanding mouth and foot are in sync. What a shoddy attempt to brainwash. Indian Hindus have got a voice to express their concerns, trampled by the secular anti Hindus. It is not at surprising that efforts to hide truth and bury pumpkin under mud are getting exposed thanks to energised Hindus.
Hindutva is acceptance and not just tolerance, Bhagwat said today. Others too must reciprocate this behavior, else get same treatment.

Ban demand for Aamir Khan’s ‘PK': BJP President Amit Shah sides with right-wing Hindu protesters?

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah was asked today about where he stands in the row in which Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ finds itself in – right wing Hindu outfits like Bajrang Dal are demanding a ban to be imposed on the movie for its objectionable content.

When asked about his reaction to the ongoing protests against Aamir Khan-starrer ‘PK’, Amit Shah said,
“People have the freedom to do so (protest).”

The General sentiments I see here - Kamalahasan had to face what he faced because he was a Hindu and Amir Khan escapes because he is a Muslim - because of Appeasement of Minorities or distorting Secularism!

We see only religion here and not bothere about the basic issue - freedom of expression of creative artist - beyond or irresepective of religion

We may be even insulting K. Hasans sentiments. He would nerver accept this arguments for his defence . He has declared - he is a non beliver in God and religion!

I think you got the issue mixed up.

KH faced what he faced because his movie was perceived to be anti-muslim/ anti-islamic; Muslims are POWERFUL and they were able to make KH eat humble pie.

AK got away because Hindus are weak. They are fair-game. He knows there always will be a bunch of moronic Hindus who will be ready to fight other hindus on his behalf.

KH may be an atheist but his atheist credentials could not trump Islam!

Some years back, a film on 2002 riots which portrayed muslims as innocent victims of hindu atrocities, got censor clearance, but all the theatres in gujarat refused to show the film. The producers wanted the gujarat govt to force the distributors and screen. The gujarat govt refused to intervene but offered protection to theaters if they wanted. But there was no violence and the movie was not screened in gujarat. A group of baroda univ students travelled to mumbai to see the film with media flashing and fanfare, but they were ignored and boycotted by their fellow students. No violence or theatrics.

Violence and demand for ban is not the solution, but boycott so ably propounded by gandhi is the best solution. The supreme court did not tell muslims not to see viswarupam, if they fgound some scenes objectionable. The secular media and communists advised kamal to settle with the mullahs.

Amit Shah does not side with right wingers; he is supporting freedom to differ and protest. BJP govt will follow its mission and agenda of development for all and these minor issues will get resolved in the right manner, agreement between the disputing parties as the govt is not siding with any minority or majority party.

The Gentle Cure for Intolerance: Koenraad Elst

Link to full paper is at the end. Time for hindus to introspect and burn the cancer of secularism from the mind, action and constitution. (It was not part of the original constitution, but inserted by indira gandhi during emergency, naturally an undemocratic process)

(The following paper was summarized during the India Foundation’s India Ideas Conclave in Goa, 19-21 Dec. 2014. When it started, I felt that the topic was too heady for the audience, or at least for the intent of the organizers, so I quickly wrote a second speech comparing the Narendra Modi Government’s performance with the Hindu agenda, a logical topic for this conclave yet conspicuously missing. But the chairman of my session insisted that I speak about Islam, as this would match the other papers well. With this, he can hardly complain.)
***
Allow me to start with an anecdote. As you know, Mahatma Gandhi, whatever his faults, was a staunch Hindu. Yet, when I stayed at the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Foundation in Delhi, I sat in on a conversation in which these Gandhians were debating whether Hinduism should continue to exist at all. Some thought it could perhaps still correct itself, others wanted to cut out the cancer of Hinduism altogether. And indeed, it is considered normal to question Hinduism’s very right to exist. Hindus are perfectly used to seeing their religion belittled, accused and insulted day and night.
***
To be sure, for Indians it is not such an otherworldly fantasy. Their republic was born in 1947 in massacres unleashed by the militants and supporters of the Pakistan movement, finally killing a million or so and putting many millions to flight, most of them Hindus (including Sikhs). Many of you will remember the East Bengal genocide of 1971, where officially 3 million, according to scholars at least a million, were killed, most of them Hindus. In sheer magnitude, this death toll completely dwarfs anything that the Taliban or the Islamic State have done so far.
***
Unfortunately, Cameron and many of his ilk don’t respect Muslims. Personally, I take Muslims seriously: if they say Islam made them do it, I take them at their word. But Islam-lovers like Cameron or US Secretary of State John Kerry overrule the Muslim perpetrators’ own testimony when it does not suit them. They have invested heavily in a rosy picture of Islam, and they are willing to lie and even to kill for it.
***
If all the secularists in India had not wasted the past decades with defending religions (except for Hinduism), but instead started deconstructing their favourite religions, we would have been a lot closer to a solution. But the guilt and at the same time the ridiculousness of the Indian secularist scene are topics for another occasion.

Frankly speaking I wonder what is the big deal of this PK movie being Anti Hindu.

Enough Tamil devotional movies too degrade Hinduism by:

1)Making Amman dancing in a group dance so easily and one movie showed Amman dancing with a Neem tree!

2)Then the villain will have a Patini wife who will fight with Amman saying "why are you blood thirsty and wanting to kill my husband?"

It does not matter if the husband is a serial rapist or murderer..the patini still blames Amman for trying to kill her husband!LOL

3) Then the ever famous line when prayers do not work..'I prayed so much to you..I gave you milk abhishegam blah blah blah..is this what I get in return? Are you just a mere stone?"

4)There was once a tamil movie where a deaf and mute girl breaks the statue of a Goddess with a stone cos she could not get a groom to marry her.

That scene was censored in Malaysia but it was not censored in TN!LOL

5)One more movie where Mamoothy is a protective paranoid elder brother to a brood of sisters and Livingstone praises him to the sisters saying that "even God needs to be given Dakshina for prayers to work but your brother helps without Dakshina"

6)The Sathyaraj movies ..I need not to say more!

7)One Tamil movie depicting Mother Mary was subtly anti Hindu trying to portray Hindus as causing fights and opposing to Mother Mary and Mother Mary was always performing miracles.
Some Anglo Indian female played the role as appearing as Mother Mary on and off in the sky!
Many famous actors acted in this movie.

So the tradition of disrespecting Hinduism is nothing new..so why such a a big hue and cry for this movie alone?

I wonder????

it is interesting that people read what is in line with their thinking.

they also selectively quote these to bolster their view point .

A simple movie on alien transacting with a Godman has been made the cause of hatred and venom in this thread
