Typical ban mindset. Let us get back to our ancient values and allow thoughts to fly freely. Let us ban the word 'ban' and instead allow free expression. But those who promote violence and beheading must be isolated and suitably chastised.

The communist govt in west bengal has been responsible for over 60000 political murders during its rule; both kerala and bengal ruling leaders sand their thondar settle their score with bombs and swords.
Now churches in north want a ban on ghar vapsi, but free reign on their illicit conversion activities.

it is interesting that people read what is in line with their thinking.

they also selectively quote these to bolster their view point .

A simple movie on alien transacting with a Godman has been made the cause of hatred and venom in this thread

With so much controversy the movie has already raked in Rs 300 crores and it is going strong...But Hindu opposition to controversial movies has always been weak..But it is a lesson to pseudo secularists who criticize the native religion while leaving the Abrahamic ones!

Quite a few including Madhu Kishwar have reported that picture running to full house are exaggerated. M Kishwar while booking was told that only two seats were available, but she found theater half full. May be black to white conversion technique. It was als reported that reliance did a bulk booking of 80000 tickets for its employees.

About #pk @amirkhan & hindu gurus: Francois gautier

Some excerpts:

“the British missionaries and the English Media kept on floating rumours in British controlled newspapers about Hindu gurus performing black magic, of financial fraud, of sexual scandals, etc”. Has anything changed today? Today those who attack Hindu gurus, are just blindly following like puppets a trend set by the British, without understanding what they are doing.

What is the truth about Hindu Gurus? The majority of Hindu gurus I have met in 45 years in India, are all genuine.
but look at Amrita Anandamayi @ammachimes, from Kerala, who comes from the lowest caste possible & is illiterate: all kind of Brahmins & upper caste Hindus have been bowing down at her feet for decades, she has built one of the most modern hospitals in India, schools, a full fledged university and keeps radiating love around the world.

So much trash has been poured on Satya Sai Baba by the Indian Media, but whoever met him, could not help feeling that he or she was in the presence of something greater, and unexplained. Swami Ramdev is a genuine guru, who has millions of disciples, yet the Congress maligned him repeatedly and even imprisoned him, albeit briefly..

SriSri is the most selfless person I know: his whole life has been spent doing sewa, he has so many charity projects, including a remarkable university in Orissa, that he is always stretched for money. He himself lives in a simple cottage and uses an ordinary Innova. He has helped countless people, from naxalites to kashmiris and even recently made a dangerous trip to Iraq to meet the persecuted Yazidis. The man deserves the Novel Peace Prize, because he does a hundred times more what @Kailash Satyarthi does.

In conclusion, it is wrong to attack Hindu Gurus. The tradition of Gurudom is ancient and revered in India, it has worked for millenniums and it still does today. They may be a few rotten apples, but on the whole 90% of the gurus in India, big and small, are genuine and do God’s work. By attacking the institution of Gurudom, Amir Khan is attacking something very sacred that is dear to a billion of Hindus. Behind Amir Khan the secular friendly guy, there is a hostile Sunni Muslim.

THESE ATTACKS AGAINST HINDU GURUS HAVE GOT TO STOP

A division bench of chief justice G. Rohini and justice R.S. Endlaw refused to entertain the plea which sought ban on the film for alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu gods, Hindu beliefs, faith and worship in the movie.

The bench said: "What was wrong in the movie? We don't find anything offensive in it. We don't find any substance in the plea."

The court said it will pass a detailed order on the plea later.

The PIL, filed by Gautam, argued that the film made mockery of Hindu god and Lord Shiva was shown in bad light.

"The Hindu way of worship has also been criticised in a most unwarranted manner," he alleged.

Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain appearing for the Centre opposed the plea, saying similar matter came before the Supreme Court which had rejected it.

This is a the birthplace of Hinduism and we should reserve the right to take this in a lighter vein. The portrayal clearly shows that the film has shown an actor in Shiva's costume and not the divine representation (as you would see in Thiruvilayadal). If you remember Rajinikanth has also been portrayed in a comedy scene such in a tamil film which we did enjoy.

PK is a intelligent film that mocks at baseless beliefs not the religion itself.

A movie stalled by Censor Board for two years for hurting Christian sentiments

All animals are equal; but some are more equal than others. This is reality.

Siddharth Mohan Nair | The News Minute | January 7, 2015 | 5.30 PM IST

This film director from Kerala has been desperately trying for two years now to get his movie cleared by the censor board.

Work of the Malayalam movie “Pitavinum Putranum” was completed in 2012 but is yet to be cleared by the censor board. The reason is that it portrays the life of two nuns who wish to lead a life like that of other women of their age but are restricted by the rules of the church and the CBFC found it may hurt sentiments.
The film portrays few Christian priests, who are characters in it, in a bad light. The Central Board of Film Certification declined to permit its director Deepesh Thacholi from screening the movie saying that it might hurt the religious sentiments of the Christian community.
“There is nothing in my movie that hurts the religious sentiments of Christians or for that matter anyone. I have only shown the life of two nuns who wish to live like others. It is true that in the story there are negative characters and few among them are priests but how does that make the movie anti-Christian?” award-wining short film maker and director Deepesh asked.

Whatever the law may be it should be applied uniformly. In some sense, it is the successive govts and the courts that are responsible for this situation.

When Davinci code was about to be released, all the Christians had to do was to send a delegation to the CMs of different states and a ban was achieved.

When the same avenue is denied to Hindus, they are bound to take the law on their own hands.

The secularists may keep on venting about radical Hindus but they won't go anywhere if they can't ensure uniformity of laws. They will only betray the loathing and contempt they have for Hindus.

Decoding PK: Beliefs may be cast in stone

This article by Amish Tripathy bares all! Who is amish tripathy?

Amish is the bestselling author of the Shiva Trilogy.

Let’s use the same Freedom of Expression standards to pose some questions to the filmmakers of PK. Clearly, PK is a noble attempt to convince us that naked, humanoid aliens regularly visit India and they can educate us on our relationship with God. In this same spirit of scientific inquiry, PK casts some serious doubts on religion. Actually, not all religions; some have been covered perfunctorily. The primary scholarly analysis is on religions that practise idol-worship (note that, theologically, practically all idol-worshippers are also nature-worshippers, for that is the philosophical route).

Consider another ‘hard-hitting’ scene in the movie. The protagonist picks up a rock, applies paan masala on it, and says that soon this will become God which everyone will worship. The subtext is clear: Look at these idol-worshipping idiots who will worship anything. Don’t they realise that this is not the real God, who apparently is an ‘external’ entity?

Over the last two millennia, some communities, starting with the Europeans, then the Arabs, Turks, Mongols etc, took this dislike to an extreme level to end the ‘Satanic’ idol-worshipping practice forcibly. There was massive violence across the world to purge idol-worship. Many places of worship were destroyed, others appropriated, and millions of people slaughtered simply because they worshipped idols. The ancient world was dotted with idol-worshipping cultures. But today, most of them — the Hellenic, Khemit, etc — have been exterminated. Hinduism is a rare idol-worshipping culture that has survived. Interestingly, I have not come across many historical examples of idol-worshipping cultures going around the world, killing ‘others’ simply because they were not worshipping idols.

idol-worshipping. But there is one immeasurably precious quality that they possess; which is the secret to their inherent liberalism. Surprisingly this is precisely what is portrayed in PK as a weakness viz: That idol-worshippers are open to worshipping anything, even a stone.

There is nothing in this world that is not divine or Godly. This gives someone like me the philosophical grounding to worship Gods/symbols of all faiths. It gives us the philosophical grounding to be able to love and respect everyone, even those among the idol-rejecters who hate us simply because we worship idols. Because we see God in them as well. This gives us the ability to respect nature and the environment with religious zeal, since we don’t believe that nature was created for our use, but that it is God!

If, like me, you’re a nature and idol-worshipper, you will find that God exists everywhere. In you, in me, in animals, in trees and, yes, even in that stone in the movie PK.

Rambling! Do you intend to take the post to court's notice? Take a sumo along! Or ask subramanyam swamy. He can help you to separate wheat from chaff!

court role is to interpret the laws as framed by our lawmakers . any statement that casts aspersions on their interpretations of the law is contempt. pl be advised that you

I think you are confusing contempt of court with criticism of verdict/judgment. Natural for sparsely informed.

Aamir Khan's PK collected Rs300 crore. Really?

Viewers are reporting empty seats in cinema halls that are showing Aamir Khan-starrer PK, while trade analysts and media reports claim that the movie has grossed over Rs300 crore and will do Rs500 crores. Hope, the taxmen remember to collect their dues from the movie’s ‘huge’ success

Aamir Khan-starrer PK has reportedly collected Rs300 crore in just three weeks since its release. The movie is being termed an all time blockbuster, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said in a tweet , "PK creates History. Crosses Rs.300 cr. (Week 3) Sun 11.58 crore. Grand total: 305.27 cr nett. India biz." This has become an accepted fact. Global figure of collections is expected to be Rs500 crores. However, there is no independent verification of these figures. Indeed, anecdotal evidence appears to tell a slightly different story. Several people are questioning the collection figure of Rs300 crore and how this is possible with barely half filled theatres across the country.

There are three aspects to understand the 'blockbuster' collection figures. First, the producers wanted to hike ticket rates for PK. Second, there was a controversy about 'hurting' the sentiments of the Hindus. And third, according to several viewers who recently watched the film in theatres, many seats were empty all across major exhibition territories. This raises the question that if halls were not full with viewers, how did the movie collect Rs300 crore in just three weeks?

It is too premature to conclude the case which has been registered in Bajaj Nagar Police Station, Rajasthan State just six days back.

I can only request the so called radical thinking torch bearers to wait for the disposal of this case which has been registered against the director, producer, and actor of the film 'PK' at the Bajaj Nagar police station in Jaipur, under section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language) of the IPC was lodged against director, producer and actor of the film.

This case should be probably under investigation. They will have to file charge sheet and then it will be taken up for trial. Followed by due the process of hearing, cross examination both prosecution and defence witnesses, analysing the evidences and finally the verdict.

We have been seeing a case of a Movie star 'hit and run' case dragging for more than a decade.

Who knows that this case may prove to be slap in the face of those so called radical thinking torch bearers who are seriously defending such movies now.

Let us wait till the disposal of this particular case.
