Points to ponder:
Sir/Madam,
It is said that ' kandavar vindilar, vindavar kandilar '. If we think we know , we do not know. Those who have really
known IT do not come out and say they know IT. This aphorism is also in Kenopanishad.

You are quite right in saying that we have neither added to nor substracted anything from the WHOLE. The WHOLE remains
the WHOLE; It is total. We must see Unity, not the WHOLE in different parts. "Om poornamadaha poornamidaham
........." is the Shanthi mantra in our upanishads.

Bhagawan Sri Ramana said 'Where I can go ' aptly sums up the essence of Vedanta.

"Doubt is the first step towards truth."

Dear Mr. Brahmanyan!

you are great in the sense, what we learnt by heart as definitions in Physics, you

have discovered on your own-independently and through personal

experiences!

Dear Mr. Ranganathan,

I forgot to add one more point in my previous post. Not only the two laws

specified are true but another truth is that the 'sum total of mass and energy

also remains unchanged!'

That is the Poornam- which we can never destroy, nor create or alter!

Great isn't it?

In spite of all these established facts, some people still doubt in

the existence of the Supreme Power we have named as God!

with warm regards and thanks for your feedback,

Purpose of Life:

I have no particular subject or issue to write. As a person who had walked the distance of life for seventy nine years, I wish to share all that pass through my mind time to time.

I would like to start my writing with the words of that great Greek Philosopher, Socrates “ True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing, that makes you smartest of all“.
When you pass through The Three phases of Life, “Childhood, Youth and Married Life” you feel that you have completed your busy life of taking care of your so called responsibilities, your mind and body gets the rest that you yearn for. When the “Mind” is at peace, you start seeing the purpose of Life clearly. The purpose of Life is “Nothing”, yes Sir, we have not done anything in the world to add or subtract from the Creator's intentions of this world. What ever anybody claims to have done is only the re-arrangement of what was and is there.

Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

Shri Brahmanyan Sir,

I am younger than you. But after lot of thinking i also have feeling that single man or woman just does not matter. may be all humans put together are doing something, but one person more or less just does not matter.

after all we dont know from where we come and where we go - life is like a flash of light shining for a small time. but during this short time persons think they are so big and important! that is the surprise.

Nothing and nobody is really insignificant or unnecessary in God's creation!

God is a great economist. He does not waste either the material or His time or

the available space by creating unwanted beings!

True words. Nothing is insignificant in Creation. An insignificant microscopic organism like a bacterium or protozoan parasite can exterminate the genetically highly evolved homo sapian population. The power of Creator is known to the Creator only. If we take a look at the sky on a clear night, we will understand The magnificence of God's Creation.

Make yourself indispensable,
and you will move up.

Behave as though you were indispensable,
and you will move out.

Talk less and work more.
You are sure to make yourself indispensable.

By the rarest coincidence I had prepared this for today's posting a week ago!

Dear Sri Sarma,

This is the eternal doubt on creation, which you will find in the oft quoted "Nasadiya Suktam" from Rig Veda by scholars.
I do accept that we do not know where from we come and where do we go. To go further we may have to browse the writings of great seekers and sages who had also done honest search to find the answer for this question, from time immemorial. We may or may not get a convincing answer . But it will certainly activate our thinking. To begin with why not we find what our own treasure trove of knowledge "Vedas" say about Creation. As you may know that the word Veda in Samskrit is coined from the root "Vid - to know". Thus "Veda" means" Knowledge". Let me quote the literal translation in English of Hymn relating to "Creation" from "The Rig Veda" as under:
==========
The Rig Veda: Book 10:HYMN CXXIX:
Creation.
------------------
1. THEN was not non-existent nor existent: there was no realm of air, no sky beyond it . What covered in, and where? and what gave shelter? Was water there, unfathomed depth of water?
2. Death was not then, nor was there aught immortal: no sign was there, the day's and night's divider. That One Thing, breathless, breathed by its own nature: apart from it was nothing whatsoever.
3. Darkness there was: at first concealed in darkness this All was indiscriminated chaos. All that existed then was void and formless: by the great power of Warmth was born that Unit.
4. Thereafter rose Desire in the beginning, Desire, the primal seed and germ of Spirit. Sages who searched with their heart's thought discovered the existent's kinship in the non-existent.
5. Transversely was their severing line extended: what was above it then, and what below it? There were begetters, there were mighty forces, free action here and energy up yonder.
6. Who verily knows and who can here declare it, whence it was born and whence comes this creation? The Gods are later than this world's production. Who knows then whence it first came into being?
7. He, the first origin of this creation, whether he formed it all or did not form it, Whose eye controls this world in highest heaven, he verily knows it, or perhaps, he knows not. ============
As this is a literal translation of original text in Vedic Samskrit, it may or may not convey the real thoughts of the Sages, who expounded it. But if we study this Hymn a number of times we may slowly understand the meaning better. It is my belief a seeker of truth should develop patience and real interest in the subject.

Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

A really good letter, if you read it aloud,
will not sound like a letter at all!

A good letter pleases him that writes
and him that receives.

A well written letter will be
a heart to heart talk between

Of all those arts in which the wise excel,
Nature's chief masterpiece is writing well.

Think much, sp

True ease in writing comes from art, not chance,

Love is the life of friendship
and letters are the life of love.

The best way to write is this:
write with a pen of ink and
with a point of diamond.

True hope is swift, and flies with swallow's wings;
Kings it makes Gods , and meaner creatures King.

A to Z of Swami Vivekananda's words of wisdom.

Arise, Awake and stop not until the goal is reached.

Bless men when they revile you.

Conquer yourself and the whole Universe is yours.

Do not meekly endure, be unattached.

Eat to Him, Drink to Him, Sleep to Him and See Him in all.

First get rid of the delusion, "I am the body".

Give everything and look for no returns.

Homogeneity, Sameness is God.

Incarnations like Jesus, Buddha and Ramakrishna can give religion.

Jana-Yoga tells man that he is essentially divine.

Knowledge exists, man only discovers it.

Look at the ocean and not at the waves.

Man as Atman is really free-as Man he is bound.

Never trurn back to see the result of what you have done.

Out of purity and silence comes the word of power.

Perception is our only real knowledge or religion.

Quarrels in religion are always over the husks.

Religion without Philosophy runs into Superstition.

See no difference between an ant and an angel.

The more our bliss is within, the more spiritual we are.

Unchaste imagination is as bad as unchaste actions.

Vedas cannot show Brahman. You are That already.

We are human coverings over the divine.

Xian you will be when you see Christ. Look only for realization.

You are good, but become better.

Zeal with Faith: Have thee and everything is bound to follow.

Swami Vivekananda.

Dalai Lama was once asked

"What thing about the Humanity surprises you most ?

Dalai Lalma's reply was "MAN".....

"Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health,
and then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present,
and as a result he does not live in the present or the future,
and he lives as if he is never going to die,
and then he dies having never really lived."

How true, and yet this story repeats in many lives!

Humanity is defined as 'human species', 'human nature' and 'the psychological

characteristics of humans'.

Man is the basis or foundation to all these interpretations.

So who else but 'man' will surprise us in humanity?

Divinity and the Infinity (represented by 'oo')

Infinity is a fascinating term used in Mathematics. It means limitless, endless,

uncountable, unmeasurable and unspecified.

The Laws governing Infinity are awesome too!

1. oo + oo = oo.

2. oo - oo = oo.

3. oo x oo = oo.

4. oo / oo = oo.

Whatever be the operation done on oo it always remains an oo!

The only other limitless, boundless, endless and unmeasurable thing we know is

God! So God is infinity. yes without a doubt 'Divinity is Infinity'.

God creates the cosmos out of Himself but He never gets diminished by dividing

Himself into so many individual lives or Jeevaas.

God is glorified by the devotees numbering in millions...but that does not

multiply His glory which is already infinity.

God descends in the form of various avatars. That does not subtract his Power or

Energy or Knowledge, which always remain infinity.

When the Shakti of all the Devathaas add up into one glorious Maha Shakti

it is still the same infinity and does get altered by the addition!

The only way to understand God spiritually and Infinity mathematically is to

equate them permanently.

Infinity oo is the divinity.. The Poornam!

Strange to note that the English word Poornam contains the symbol

oo of infinity it itself!
