Try sleeping and lazying around continuously for two days!
You will want to get out of bed and do some work.
Man is created to do work.
If he does not, he will go bad or mad.
An idle mind is devil's workshop.
In fact unless we work hard, we won't even be able to get soothing sleep.

Even though I agree with the thread in general, one small counter-point. If we take out wealth or the accumulation of wealth from the equation, what will motivate most people from getting out of bed in the morning?

Every time we start talking of the distribution of wealth, we should see what happens to socialist or communist societies. They do not work. Capitalist society may be the lesser of all evil forms. In a capitalist society every individual is allowed to spend their legal wealth, as they want. It should not be the cause of jealousy.

This is also supported by our Karma theory. So we all should aspire to do the best we can in our chosen (?) fields. We can propose that people should be charitable towards others, but that is all we should do. Look at Bill Gates, or Warren Buffet as an example.

One persons fortune is not the cause of someone else's misfortune. So we should not disparage the life style of some rich person, or their style of living.

I agree that we should mold our life style to reduce waste, and try to do NISHKAMA Karmas. Our personal goal should be to not acquire any more Karmas.

Let me clarify my point further...

I think we need to draw a line somewhere...All of us earn our pennies by hard work...The wealth accumulated by dent of hard work following the rule of law is not to be questioned...It is the unscrupulous who amass wealth by adopting nefarious and unfair means...Such wealth needs to be confiscated for public good.

In the world majority of the rich got their wealth by legitimate means (may be using loopholes). The poor generally are poor because of poor decisions. There is no magic bullet to cure this disparity. We all can be in either category by our karmas.
I would not want to be the judge, and police. I do not condone vigilate justice.

If we just concentrate on our own karmas, and goal and not worry about others we can succeed in our life. If we spend our time analyzing others action and motives, our quest will be lost.
