Salim khan too rejected the award. He thanked the present govt for considering him, blamed the earlier govts for ignoring him in the past but giving awards to his juniors and peers. He feels that he deserves a higher award. Tamil singer Janaki did not accept the award because stalwarts like M S Viswanathan were given cold shoulder.

But these other examples you cited are not religious (read Hindu) figures. Many people believe dissing hindu gurus automatically makes one rational and endows one with qualities of sama darshanah. LOL!

These are mere mortals like anyone of us who have personal ego and interest in anything they do and are not selfless...who desire a higher award or reject an award becos they wanted someone else too to be awarded..these are all petty reasons.

Baba Ramdev and Sri Sri are religious Icons who should salute Bharata Mata at any cost.I hope you see the glaring difference.

Yes I like that very much. But you can not escape this type of people who considers himself above the crowd from embarrassing the nation (barring TB's from this site).
The so called sanyasi's are rolling in money, have private jets but when it comes to an award suddenly they remember their "kashaybra Wastra".

What is wrong in refusing awards ? I mean when soldiers have refused purple hearts in the USA, the same fellows want to come & preach to the Indians here. Soldiers can never refuse such awards because they have taken additional oaths to serve the country, it is a open violation of chain of command. Where is your outrage when the republican congress called Netanyahu to talk in the congress without Obama approval?. Entire Obama administration is upset & bad mouthing Netanyahu in public. Obama is the elected president by most democrats, independants & republicans, but congress chief only represents republicans. Where is the outrage against Boehner against your so called adopted country?

I am of the opinion that some members have views that does not sway in the direction of the majority.
They might have views and opinions totally not to your liking but at least they are firm in their convictions.

But I am 100% sure that if the Gurujis had accepted the award you would be singing a different tune and opposing those who felt that he Gurujis should NOT have taken the award and accuse them of bashing country,tradition,culture blah blah blah.

Its better to have a proper stand in life instead of being Gone With the Wind!LOL

This year's Padma awards have two interesting personalities from Tamil Nadu - one former Chief Election Commissioner Gopalaswamy and the other Violinist Kanyakumari.

Gopalaswamy is given Padma Bhushan and it is not known the significant achievement he made for getting this award. T N Seshan who brought new life to the above position was not considered.

Violinist Kanyakumari, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, is given Padma Shree from Tamil Nadu quota. When there are very senior musicians like T K Murthy, V V Subramanyam, Mannargudi Easwaran who are still to get any award, how her name was selected from Tamil Nadu quota is a mystery.

Earlier, lot of carnatic musicians from Palghat have got such awards from Tamil Nadu quota, denying the native Tamils. Is Palghat part of Tamil Nadu?

Can't understand on what basis people like Ramdev and Ravi shankar are selected for such awards. They in fact collect money for their ashrams and to teach yoga. Ramdev sells his so called medicines to gullible people in India and abroad. Both these people own private planes Ramdev has got benami properties in Ireland and Scotland. Is the BJP government going to take any action against these crooks. Both these people are not what they project to be.

Hi Renuka –

so what if they had accepted the award? & people had praised them for it?

People who have followed my earlier posts will know I do not support the new govt on ideological grounds. Nor do I support Muslim, Pakistan bashing & showing them in poor light. Nor do I believe that the new govt can deliver on its sky high promises. You know my choice for the PM..

Having said all this, I am not going to obsess myself & finger point every day, every hour about this govt. they have come to power, over a billion voted, lets see if they can deliver. Yes, they will do many things right, many things wrong, but what is the point of nitpicking & bashing them constantly??

People will oppose when they see someone constantly targeting certain dispensation, political ideology, religion, culture, traditions, etc…

So it has nothing to do with whether I like someone’s opinion or not, if someone constantly targets our country, religion, culture,traditions, etc.. I will surely put my view to balance the discussion.

I remember once there was a Bhagavad Geeta discourse given by a very prominent speaker from India and the posters about the event had Albert Einstein's view on the Geeta..that is :

I was quite taken aback to read that poster cos Geeta does not need a human's opinion to promote it...we do not need Albert Einsteins opinion to market the Geeta or to attract a large audience.

So I emailed the organizers saying that it should be the words of Lord Krishna alone that should attract a crowd and not Albert Einsteins.

They replied me and acknowledging what I suggested.

So likewise here..why do you need a French guys opinion of how Hindus should conduct themselves and just becos the white guy said something you wanted to hear you got excited!LOL If he had said something you did not like you would have launched a Yuddh!LOL

Its high time we all learnt to have our own personal 100% authentic stand in life..be it if its good or bad..at least that is our opinion without having to resort to using the opinion of others as a back up.

Nope my friend, I have zero interest in your offer. I think your exposure in life seems to be limited. if you knew how such enjoyment will bring tsunami's & pralayam into one's life, you wouldn't have even thought about it..

I would advise you to read my earlier post on – “CosmicTheory – Life’s real secrets” to understand how this world works. How such a life style can lead to complete disaster, & that’s why millions of westerners & NRIs have messed up their lives. This will probably help you realize how extra-ordinary our scriptures are, our great our religion/philosophy really are…

As far as west is concerned, I am not obsessed, – have u seen me posting anti-west threads every day like the troll who keeps posting anti-india, anti-religion threads ?

Of course, I have given back whenever people have started threads like we can learn a lot from the west? (like what? LOL), or quoted posts saying the so called american way is better etc…

Even on this thread, only when some went on picking on our Swamiji’s, I intervened & asked why those who think the entire country is insulted do not feel the same when scores of westerners have similarly refused their govt awards. Obviously no answer to that… LOL.

My only anti-west thread was on racism after ferguson riots where I was rightly severe against the widespread racism in the west.

If one looks at our scriptures with an open unbiased mind, it contains great gems of how to lead life.

There are many secrets in their teachings, philosophy etc.. yes, most of our Swamijis created elaborate puranas to teach the common man, so it can be boring & look very simple for this age, but if you care to look deeply, they contain gems of wisdom.

One can either learn from one’s own mistakes in life or be cautious & learn from our ancient masters!!

Having said all this, let me also state - West is a lost cause, they have no religious moorings, they actively discourage talking about religion, no culture, no traditions, obsessed with sex, drugs, teen sex, pornography, violence, winning at all costs, anything goes!. If you don’t see this statement of mine as “anti-west”, you will see that is the "truth" unfortunately. So kids born in this environment are all lost causes.

Most do not realize this till their kids get married into different races, get divorced, become victims of violence, drugs, extra-marital affairs etc.. which are all unheard of in our TB world. The NRIs in this forum who keep going on & on about how great their world is have not seen enough life, so they are all living in delusion.

So my friend, please save yourself & your family before all is lost to the west.

Man, you secretly want to experience all the vice of the west. I have done all that when I was young and have no interest in them now.

I am not as educated as many Indians here. I was able to make a great life and money by being street smart and honest effort and with insights about people.

My friend, the first step to getting well is to own up to them. As I said before you protest way too much about west and its vice.
