We see a message of Baba about mentally disturbed people who are undergoing
treatment in the Mental Hospital. We have to have an awareness of the suffering
of such people and have to pay our sympathy to those misfortunes and try to
extend the possible help to alleviate their sufferings. We have to develop
humane quality of understanding the sufferings of others and show our mercy
without any indifference realizing their sickness. Perhaps, one has to render a
help in such a way that the affected person feels mentally and physically better
simply remaining sympathetic and listening to them.

As far as it lies in your power, do good to others. Do not sow fear or inflict pain on others or promote anxiety or grief. If you take pleasure in the pain of others, you only scotch the divinity in you and bring to light the demonic natures in man. The Lord resides in all – "Ishwara sarva bhoothaanam” - He is in you, as much as in the other, whom you are harming. Know this and give up all efforts to ruin others. You cannot help another – you can only help yourself by that act. You do not harm another; you only harm yourself by any wicked action. The outer attachments and nature may be different, but the inner reality in you is the same as in the 'other'.

Everyone have to normally maintain good relations with the friends
and relatives. One must have a principle that one should not hurt
others who cares for him/her. Relations should always be on mutual
trust. No doubt misunderstanding is inevitable/unavoidable but that
should not end in hurting someone even during the period of emotions.
As Baba says, we should do good to others and must not hurt others.

In the epic Ramayana, Ravana lent his ear to the pleasant eulogies from his ministers than the beneficial advice from his brother, Vibeeshana. By exiling his brother and honouring his courtiers, he sealed his own fate. Now many people are pursuing the pleasant over the beneficial and that is the reason for all distress and discontent. Indian Culture has always emphasised the hard and beneficial way; it has always advised the control of one’s senses. However people today follow cultures that cater to the senses and go after momentary and external frills and pleasures. Realize that the car is driven by steering the wheel inside, when this is turned, the outer wheels automatically move. Similarly when you turn the inner wheel, you can progress.

Do not merely boast of your knowledge of the scriptures and that you have read it a hundred times over and learnt by heart the commentaries so far written upon them. Reflect upon this fact - of all the millions that lived, why is it that Arjuna alone had the Vishwarupa Darshana (Vision of the Cosmic form)? It is because he had reached the highest stage of surrender. At the appropriate time, Krishna started the lessons on Bhagavad Gita and progressively, Arjuna’s surrender, yearning and unexcelled concentration grew. And then Arjuna was blessed with the universal manifestation of the Lord. Unless one attains that same degree of surrender and yearning, how can that result be expected? The cycle of birth and death cannot be got rid of by scholarship. Hence start with this first lesson. Cleanse your mind and journey to that realm where you see God in everyone, everywhere, at all times, through uninterrupted remembrance of your chosen Lord. This is the most effective spiritual practice.

The most precious Gift one gets from God is HIS blessings. For that, one
must make himself/herself to be ready and surrender to HIM. One should
understand the real meaning for the word "LOVE" especially towards
Children and God. God has given everyone, yet again the greatest gift of
understanding the world, not only to have a desire to acquire material assets, wealth,
etc. but also to forget the individual differences, and live in harmony with everyone.
Hence, one should not live only in imagination of aspiring material things but equally
develop harmony and love towards neighbours, relatives and others. To keep away
from sorrow, tension, etc. one should pray God and help everyone to the extent
possible.

Lord Rama strove to uphold truth as the main plank ofdharma. Whatever the trial, however hard the travail, He did not give up Truth. Mother Sita too kept up the Dharma of a chaste woman at all times. But now women and men are tempted to yield to the convenience of the moment. They do not attach importance to the deeper springs of righteousness. Can the results justify the means? Fair ends through foul means can never be right. The one who installs Rama (God) in the heart should never shelter a beast therein. Rama, during his Avatar was happy when others were happy. He grieved when others were in grief. That is the trait that Lord Rama wanted everyone to learn. If you practise this, you will most certainly attract the grace of the Lord. So while avoiding pain from others, be vigilant not to cause pain to others too.

Sai Lives on

All human being desire to have an unchanged state of power both in political and personal life. Whenever our mind is in good stead towards the God, HE comes forward to help us. Meditation and spiritual power can bring us bliss (ananda). When one is having a tendency of devilish, such person is always with self pride or ego and do not believe or dependence on the God. God helps those persons only who have absolute faith in HIM and surrender themselves at his feet. In this great ocean of samsara, when we do not have any problems, we have a tendency of not even remembering HIM. When we turn to HIM in Bhakti, he neither never keeps us away nor we are asked to wait in the Queue. There is a saying that when a Sadhaka meditates without any deviation on attaining the Moksha and wishes to live in Eternal Life of the Atma, God gets his worshiper the Amirta. For e.g. If the Sadhaka dedicates his Bakthi towards Vishnu, he/she will automatically get Shri's (Goddess Lakshmi) power, who is always seated on the Lord's chest. To such people, Lakshmi is the power to give every type of splendor and talent to think of the God. Sai Ram Balasubramanian Ambattur

Let the petty wishes for which you now approach God be realized or not; let the plans for promotion and progress which you place before God, be fulfilled or not - these are not important in this journey of life. The primary aim for you should be to become Masters of yourselves. You must progress to hold intimate and constant communion with the Divine who is within you, as well as in the Universe you live in. Welcome disappointments and tests, for they toughen you and test your fortitude. For all who seek to cleanse the mind and climb upwards to the realm of spiritual bliss where 'this' and 'that' are discovered as one, the uninterrupted remembrance of the Divine Name is the most effective spiritual exercise.

One should always have good and positive thoughts in life. Only those things will
give everyone sustained happiness. One should not have the Destructive Habit i.e. Worry.
Everyone has an incredible computer. i.e. human brain, which should be used in the right
form. Because one has a great asset i.e. faith and confidence. If that prevails, it is
very easy to get the God's blessings. Similarly one must have a satisfying work. One
may do many things. However, if a person helps others at the time of need, he/she
gets complete satisfaction. One should try to eliminate the greatest problem of fear.
If one moves with everyone just like friends or relatives, the most powerful force in life
i.e. Love can be easily developed and enhanced. Above all, our greatest treasure is
Youth. During the youth period one should cultivate a very good habit of helping others
and sow a seed for intimacy with the God and practices of Dharma.

Forsaking the various attractions and distractions of this beautiful universe, you go to a spiritual place, drawn by the call of the spirit. This attitude is to be commended because the Light of the Spirit is truly the Beacon for those struggling in the darkness of worldly affairs. Darkness creates confusion and makes you take one thing for another. In the dark, even the stump of a tree appears to be a thief, lying in wait to rob you. Knowledge of the Self is the light which will disperse the darkness as well as doubts and diversities that it creates. Without this knowledge, people wander in the wilderness. They behave as if they have lost all memory of themselves and their origin and destination, evoking pity amongst the wise. Awareness of one’s identity as the Atma, is the sign of wisdom, the lighting of the lamp which scatters darkness.

“Where had You been, Swami?” we asked Him, when He sat up and leaned back, on the wall. He answered, with a smile, as if He was not at all tired or exhausted after the twenty-minute-absence from the body. “Oh! I had been to Dehra Dun!”
We were astonished! We asked Him what was the urgency for the visit, what was the calamity which had to be averted, who was the Bhakta involved, etc. He said that it was not a ‘calamity’ this time, but it was a dying person to whom He had to give His Darshan, at the time of death. “That was why you saw Vibhuti issue from My mouth. When I give Darshan to a dying person, that happens. Remember this.”
We searched our memories for the name and address of the Dehra Dun devotee but, we could not recall any one’s name. Then Baba Himself volunteered the information. He said, “Don’t you remember Dr. Krishna, the Lady Medical Officer from Vellore, who comes here often? It was her mother who passed away ten minutes ago, at Dehra Dun.” And, He was speaking to three of us, in His room at the Prasanthi Nilayam at Puttaparthi, on 15th November 1958, at 5:40 P.M.!
At 5:20 P.M. that day, while Baba was reading out a letter He suddenly shouted, “Ha!” as if He was answering some one calling Him from afar and He fell on the floor, as if He had thrown His body and left it in a trice, on a journey! There were two more in the room, besides myself and, we watched over Him helplessly, praying to Him, for what could we do other than that? At 5:30, Baba coughed thrice and there gushed from His mouth the sacred Vibhuti. We wondered what it could mean. Ten minutes later, He came back and sat up. It was then that we ventured to ask Him, “Where had You been, Swami?”
We knew Dr. Krishna and had seen her at Puttaparthi and at Delhi, when Baba visited the home of the Doctor. When Baba was at Rishikesh, the mother had come down to the place and she had even the unique satisfaction of worshipping Baba. And, so we were glad that the mother was privileged to have the Darshan of the Lord, during her last moments.
Baba told us, in answer to our questions, that Dr. Krishna was at her bedside at Dehra Dun, that she was actually there at the time He left, holding the pulse and that it was quiet and a happy death. He said that all the nearest and dearest were around the bed. “She was very pious lady and she got the death she deserved,” He said. “They are doing Bhajan in that room! The atmosphere is so pure and holy,” He announced. Surely, we thought, that was why Baba blessed the soul.
We were all indeed lucky that we could witness this Manifestation of the Divine Mystery, for as Baba has often said, “Only the Lord can discern the exact moment of the liberation of a soul.”
The 15th of November was a Saturday. On Tuesday, the 18th, the post brought an Inland Letter from Dehra Dun, which Baba gave me to read and when it was opened, lo, it was from Dr. Krishna herself! She had posted it on Sunday, with extra stamps and it had to come fast and flying to Baba’s Hands.
“My mother drew her last breath,” it said, “at 5:30 P.M. yesterday.” Dr. Krishna had also written that they were doing Bhajan in the room for some time and that her mother was praying to Baba during her last moments. She concluded her letter thus, “I guess she had Your Darshan.”
She guessed fifteen hundred miles away! And we were told by Baba at Prasanthi Nilayam that her guess had come true!

Many now are not spending even five minutes of their time on the contemplation on God. Of the 24 hours which comprise a day, use six for earning and spending, six for the contemplation on God, six for sleep and six for service to others. Cultivate quietness, simplicity and humility instead of clamour, complexity and conceit. To develop the taste for liberation, repeat the Name of the Lord on the tongue and saturate your mind with the sweetness of His splendour. This is the best exercise that can be practised at all times, by all, irrespective of creed, caste, gender, age, economic or social status. When we chant the Nama of Bhagawan, through Namasmaran regularly, we
can certainly rejoice the God's Grace. God's devotees or disciples will always
remember the goodness of HIM only through regular prayer. Prayer has to be
done regularly without any interruption and undivided attention with full
concentration on God. Glory of God can only be chanted through various
Hindu Scriptures wherein Bhagawan's Namasmarans are clearly depicted.
There are many paths to get the Blessings of Bhagawan. Normally, memory
and attention plays the key role in the religious belief. One should have an
aim or target to reach the nearness of God is possible.

As Bhagawan says Morality and Spirituality have to converge and one should
conduct himself/herself in the right path to lead a good human life. This in
turn would enlighten everyone with a clear vision. Through spiritual exercises
one can certainly enhance the combination or the relationship between moral
and spiritual life.

People offer different types of prayers.
Some do Pranam to HIS Divine Feet by doing Prostration
Some people do Padapooja
Some people roll on the leaves inside the temple premises
Some people roll or do anga pradakshinam in the Temple Praharams
Some people write the nama of the Bhagawan and make it a Garland and
offer it to HIM

The Sanathana Dharma (ancient Indian culture) calls upon you to revere the Acharya (Guru or preceptor), for the Guru is seeking to save you from disaster, from the floods of birth and death into which you are slipping, out of ignorance. Noble and venerable sages have struggled with and elevated themselves into the purer regions of thought, to discover their own inner reality. They felt the thrill and discovery and sang the freedom they gained. These songs and teachings serve as signposts and all who derive benefit therefrom must acknowledge the debt. The best way to do that is by studying, reflecting upon what is studied, practising the truths taught by them and proving them right, by your own experience. This is the best way to repay the Rishi Rna (debt to the sages).

Sant Kabir too mentioned the following :

Swarg Mrtyu Patal Puri Teen lok Such Nahin
Sukh Prabhu Bhajan Mein Aur Santan Ke Nahin

If one gets an opportunity to associate with the knowledgeable Saints, besides
studying great puranas or itihasas, who is completely dedicated towards God in his
acts and service, it spontaneously brings joy, undisturbed peace in life with a truth
of Bakthi, Janan and awareness of the Doctrines of Karma.

In a Ramayan Discourse, it was mentioned, by a Scholar, "in a scale of balance, if one
puts all his delights, pleasure of the world including material assets which he thinks as
heaven on the one side of the scale of balance, the person can notice that the same
will be outweighed by a moment's joy derived from the association with the learned Saints
or Sadhus". The teachings of the Sadhus or Saints always remain a torch light for the
people to educate themselves in the true path of Bakthi, Jnana, etc.

Human beings, according to ancient Indian teachings, are not simply a coordinated collection of limbs, senses and sensations; they are all these put together, governed by the intelligence, that is sharpened by the modes and memories earned through many births. Intelligence and skills, by themselves are instruments with a limited range of efficiency; there are many goals which they cannot achieve. Those goals can most certainly be attained by the Grace of the Divine Power. Complete surrender of the ego to the Divine Will brings Grace upon you and fills you with bliss. In the epic Ramayana, Vibheeshana was capable of that surrender and so he was accepted very quickly and attained the joy from the Divine. On the other hand, Sugreeva took quite a while to reach that stage, as he doubted the prowess of Lord Rama and only when his doubts were cleared, he truly surrendered to the Lord.

We find many aged people homeless bcoz their wards do not take care of them at their
old age. Some drop them in the Orphanages and some do not take care of them. The
sun should sign on everyone. They might have achieved certain goals in their life by
educating their children and bringing them up in a good path. Yet it is the duty of the
children to nourish them at their old age. The children have to use their money, skill
and their aptitudes towards the welfare of their elders. There are certain voluntary
Organizations, which come forward to give shelter to such people, besides taking care
of their food and drugs & dresses, etc. Delivering real help is must to maintain their
lives without any sickness. In fact, people who are having facility can empower them to
succeed in whatever endeavour they choose without giving much stress or physical strain,
like making them prepare hand-made products, etc and utilise the remuneration for their
own welfare. We should make their lives happier when the sun rises in the morning everyday.

Dive deep into your own Divinity. The crocodile is happy, unharmed and undefeatable, when it is in the depths of a lake or river. Once it sprawls on land, it becomes a plaything and an easy target. Remember this – the depths: they are your refuge, the source of your strength. Stay put there. Do not let your thoughts stray onto the shallows or the sands. Repetition of the Gayathri Manthra develops the dhee sakthi (Power of discrimination) and so its results will be giving up of evil company and the seeking of the company of noble souls. Ifsatsang (good company) is not available, you can keep company with your own higher impulses and noble thoughts. When you establish yourself in the Divine Light, no worry, grief or pride can harm you.

Generally the thought process underlines almost all human actions
and reactions. One has to be conscious of something before interpreting
and doing a thing. Actual and real change happen only when knowledge,
understanding and feeling all act together. One should have a control
over the mind or on the mental status without giving a room for creating
unpleasantness in any situation. Sometimes our Hindu Dharma practices
are not accepted by a few bcoz of believers and non-believers. Though
religious belief is a private matter, one should get associated with only
people who are having good religious views and deeds. Association with
Satsang always produces a common good to everyone. A collective prayer
and meditation bring a lot of benefits and the society at large also benefits.

The epic Ramayana was sparked off by two little incidents involving two minor characters – the resentment of Kaikeyi’s maid Manthara and the lust of Ravana’s sister, Surpanakha. Be aware that a tiny spark of these two inimical qualities desire and anger (kama and krodha), is sufficient to destroy peace and joy in your life. Weed them out before they destroy you. Work hard to clear your mind from of all its likes and dislikes. If you succeed in restraining their flow towards the objective world, your senses will be rendered ineffective. Once you accomplish the extinction of the mind, these evil qualities cannot harm you and you will remain in joy and peace. Sensory activity is the warp as well as the woof of the mind. When that ceases, the mind vanishes – it starves and dies.

Dear Renuka, I am a new comer to this forum and joined only today.I am also a devotee of Bhagavan Sai.Of course I understand the pangs of your loving heart for Sai.But it is strange that a devotee of over 3 decades still do not know the elementary principle of Creation that whatever is born in this world whether human beings, animals, plants etc have to leave their forms one day.All avatars and eversomany great souls have met the same fate only. The principle is what is in macrocasm it is in microcasm. So Sai is considered to be a macrocosmic Being and we all mortals are microcosmic ones.So what is in Sai is within everyone of us also. This evidently we forget and give value only for the image. It is a clear misconception of philosophy.Ultimately the individual soul has to merge into the Universal soul and there is no question of individuality arises at that point. This may take several births as the process of evolution is slow.So you must understand this and always think that Sai is within you only as He can't be outside your mind. That is only an illusion which you create for yourself becoz of your extreme attachment to HIM.So be confident and try to find Him within you and that is the way to develop faith and devotion and not seeing something outside your mind. Then you may be able to get the answer if you are fortunate. All the wishes.
