There is no scar on the sky, though clouds, stars, the sun and the moon all appear to streak across it. So too let a thousand ideas streak across the mind, ensure that your mind remains unaffected and serene. Get firm in mind; then, your reason also will not deviate. Without that equanimity or shanthi, you can get no soukhyam (happiness). Saint Kabir had no food for three days – but he thanked God for giving him the coveted chance of observing a ritual fast. The great devotee of Rama, Saint Ramadas was confined in prison – and he thanked God that he got a place where he could meditate on Him without disturbances. Such is the attitude of the saintly, those who are the beloved of the Lord.

The best way to mould oneself into a position in which he/she can make
an ethical decision towards dedication and concentration on God is to
choose everything for the sake of surrender unto HIM. Moral virtues
play a large part in shaping ethical action particularly about worshiping
God regularly believing in HIM that HE could influence everyone's life in a
positive way. A person who does not rejoice in noble actions, he cannot
attain the pleasure of HIS values or blessings. One should always look
for the good end which is the end goal of one's life, i.e. worshiping HIM
regularly and chant HIS Namasmaran without fail every day.

The Divinity in each one prompts one to stick to truth and to the moral code; you only have to listen, obey and get saved. Few hear it the moment it whispers; some listen only when it protests loudly; others are deaf; and there are also some who are determined not to hear it. But all have to be guided by it, sooner or later. Some may ascend a plane, others may travel by car or board a bus; yet others may prefer a train journey, and there could be some who may like to trudge along - but all must reach the goal, some day or other. The sea of samsaara (worldly life) has to be crossed and all its waves transcended, with the help of the Divine Name. If you seek to know the highest and secure the award of the Lord, there can be no place for doubt. The heart should be set on achieving the task of realising the Lord within you as the Motivator.

Cooked food is offered to the God as Neivedhyam everyday and offered to the
crow before we eat. Even on religious days, one cook sumptuous food of all
varieties to offer to the God before one consumes. Further, food is offered to
the departed soul on a particular day in a year. Can anyone live without food!
It does not comprise only rice vegetables. To be very precise, the entire
Universe is composed of food. Man works like a machine or a beast of burden to
appease the appetite or hunger. While sowing the piece of land, the farmer
worships the land with dedication with a positive hope that it would reap good
harvest. Thus it is concluded that food is God in otherwords. Annam Brahma -
Food is God.

Contemplation is nothing but meditation and spiritual exercises. One
has to dedicate without any deviation of mind towards the God through
contemplation on HIM not only to secure HIS blessings but also to secure
one from apprehensions. If one contemplates on HIM, it is certain that
one can attain the Divine Power.

A tree is justified by fragrant flowers bringing forth sweet fruits. If on the other hand, its leaves dry, flowers fade and the fruits refuse to grow, the farmer will examine the roots and discover that they are eaten up by pests. So too, if virtues do not blossom and yield sweet fruits in you, then the roots of Divinity might have been destroyed or harmed. Envy, greed, malice, etc. are the pests that rapidly destroy the roots. All of you are near and dear to the Lord; only you must have the staunch determination to realize Him. Welcome hardships, trials and sufferings. Dwell on the Name of the Lord which is dear to you, steadily and with faith. Discard all inferior sources of joy. Know that the Lord is the spring of joy in every heart. When you repeat the Name of the Lord with a pure heart, He will fill you with bliss and joy.

Jealousy leads to fear and fear leads to anger and as a result leads to
hatred. Sometimes fear leads to anxiety and also leads to depression.
Hate leads to violence and sparks anger and stems purely from ignorance.
To overcome all this, one must always dwell on the Namasmaran of the
Lord with a determination to reach HIM without any deviation in the mind.
One should not give room to any inferior temporary pleasures. If one
worship HIM with a pure heart and chant his Nama, one can certainly attain
peace and will be able to seek HIS blessings at all times.

With the present day hectic activities, a person has to undertake lot of exercises
in different forms to lead an active life. But in order to get a peaceful life, these days
meditation towards God is the most suitable penance. How we start operating a computer
though we are not born with adequate knowledge. Some say, the present day Computer
is nothing but playing of a piano those days. Ignorance should not pave the way to
stupidity. There is nothing secret about divinity power. Every life is a narrow one and
hence one should look for the spiritual truth. If meditation is successfully practiced it
brings an illuminating truth and an interesting glowing light on the worshiper. As we start
understanding the logic in life, belief in God certainly opens the mind of a person and reduces
his inner distance to attain the blessings of God.

Try to win God’s grace by reforming your habits, reducing your desires and refining your higher nature. One step makes the next one easier; that is the excellence of the spiritual journey. At each step, your strength and confidence increases and you receive larger and larger instalments of grace. I command you on this day of Guru Poornima, to take the path of your chosen spiritual practice sincerely. Many people ask me, “Swami, give me a name of God, which I can repeat”. Take any name you like, anything that appeals to you; all His names are equally sweet. In spirituality there are no differences of nationality, caste and so on; all belong to the State of God.

The Guru warns and awakens. He reveals the truth and encourages you to progress towards it. Unless you have the yearning, the questioning heart, the seeking intelligence, the Guru cannot do much. The hungry can be fed; the one who has no hunger will discard food as an infliction. TheGuru is a gardener, who will tend the plant. But, the sapling must have sprouted before He can take charge. He does not add anything new to the plant, He only helps it to grow according to its own destiny, quicker and completely perhaps, but not against its inner nature. He removes poverty by pointing to the treasure that lies buried within you. He advises the method of recovering it and the vigilance needed to use it to the best advantage.

One has to surrender everything, i.e. body, wealth and Life unto the Guru, if one wants to learn the spiritual practices in the Gurukul. Guru teaches all the Vedas and Agamas including the methods of Spiritual powers and duties. Guru also imparts the knowledge to the disciple all the spiritual practices as Guru is united with the God. Guru infact inspires devotion in others. The grace of God takes the form of God and the Guru helps to identify the form of God through his teachings. Further, there is no such thing as mental sickness or illness to the Gurujis. They do not allow sickness to becomes as a bottleneck or an obstacle in their daily Karmas or duties in imparting knowledge to the disciples. Further, we can see Gurujis in all Sai Temples serving Baba as if one does the duty to the Mother and other close relatives besides a Pupil to his Master. The heart must be pure to accommodate the divine feelings and it should not allow any other things like ego to get in, so that it paves way to the God to live in everyone us and this can only be possible through sustained meditation and chanting of Bhagawan Nama without any disturbance in a dedicated way.

Practice detachment at every step, or else, greed and miserliness will overpower your finer human nature.

The truths about God elevates one and the lies about HIM degrades one. One has to be
deductive to understand the truths of God and know HIM through Namasmaran and
dedicated prayers. Primarily one has to understand the truth that we are all God's
creations. Secondly, the Knowledge of God is the foundation of all true education and of all true
Service. Thirdly, the life is eternal. One has to kill the unwanted desires and try to
proceed in the spiritual journey by repeatedly chanting HIS Nama, which would enable
a person to attain his blessings.

As Baba says Satwik food helps us to lead a spiritual life. Primarily Satwik food
is very easily digestible. Vegetables, fruits, milk and milk turned items are very
best examples of Satwik food. Perhaps fruits are only an exception to take or
consume it in the raw form. Otherwise, one has to eat cooked food integrating
with certain common species enabling to help easy digestion. To be very precise
it is said that a person who eats Satwik food has most suitable combination
of physical, mental and emotional harmony facilitating him to live peacefully
without giving a chance to aggression or provocation. In other words, Satwik
food produces a calm mind. With this, it will be easy to have an opportunity
to meditate on God and chant HIS Namas.

Parents have conferred this physical instrument called body, with which we can serve God in all living beings, glorify Him in and through Beauty and Truth, and attain the Absolute. This human body is essential to liberate ourselves from the direst of bondages. An iron box is essential to keep safe the precious gems. So too the body is essential to keep safe the gifts of faith, love and discrimination. God is immanent in the Universe. He is in the most distant star as well as the blade of grass under your feet. You can see Him, provided you curdle this Universe with discrimination, churn it with detachment and collect the nectar with earnestness. In the grain of the sand as well as in the grandest galaxy, God can be found by diligent and sincere spiritual practices. He is the core of every being, as butter is present in every drop of milk.

In ancient times, Sadhus used to sit under a tree in a mountain or hill to meditate.
In fact, the tree represent our connection to the divine power and also indicates
as to how a human grow both spiritually and mentally closer to God or Goddess
because of continuous penance. First of all, we all must understand that we are
created by God. Secondly, we need to be clear as to how we live on this earth.
We come to know our personal relationship i.e. Mother and Father, etc at the time
of birth itself through our Mother, who also tells us as to who is God and what HE
does for us. A regular spiritual practice needs a discipline. Meditation and Yoga
forms part of Spiritual practices as a part of Sadhana. Japa, the silent or audible
repetition of Mantras or Slokas is yet another Spritual practice. If one make a
sincere and diligent effort, as Baba puts it, we can also see the God and attain
HIS blessings.

When we chant Baganwan Nama regularly without fail dedicating our complete mind
on HIM without any out side world attachments or pleasures or desires, it will not be
far off to hear the words of God in us. In fact, there is a quote in our Purnas and
Ithihasas, that if God is pleased with one, the entire Universe gets pleased with HIM
and people start going around HIM to hear his divinity power, etc. We hear lot of
Pravachanams by Leading Aanmiga Lectures viz. Shri Vellukudi Krishnan, Shri Anantha Padmanabhan
etc. They show us many examples of the God's role besides Stories to enlighten and illumine us.
Those days, Pulavar Keeran and Shri Krupananda Variar used to give us lot of examples
of God's presence in everything and in the atmosphere through various short stories to
the Children to make them understand the presence of divinity power. It is thus
our duty to chant Bhagawan Nama daily without fail.

Like a lighted lamp, God’s Grace spreads all round, on all who approach Him and love to be near Him. But if you interpose a shade which shuts out the light from you, if Grace does not shine, you have only yourself to blame. Open the doors of your heart and let the sunlight of God’s grace shine through and illumine all the corners and drive out the vices. To receive the desired programme on your radio set, you have to switch on and tune the receiver. That is an inescapable effort.
