I have seen both these movies and was glad to find them while researching for something else.. It was funny indeed to see Sivakumar twist.. but cute.. I like him.. a very good actor.. :-) Thanks Valli, I am happy that you liked them.. please call me Bushu or subhalakshmi, no Ji after necessary, I am older, I do agree but if you are as young as Amala you can call me aunty or mami, if that makes you feel better.. :-)

By the way, my spelling in my name was sort of changed by Jayashankar.. :-)))

Dear Bushu

Is that so?! Please share it with us! :)

Kind regards

Dear Valli,

it is not a big deal really, my original spelling used to be subbalakshmi, when I was about 15 a group of friends visited Jaishankar in his home, he was just coming to have lunch.. it was a bit bold for those days, I suppose, but we were about 6 or 7 of us around the same age.. in fact my friend Radha who was older is a die hard fan of Jaishankar.. :-)) anyway, after he had his lunch he came out to his living room and said hello and asked what our names were and when I gave mine and he asked me how did I spell it and I told him and he said subba does not mean anything but Subha means something auspicious, perhaps you might want to change it.. this sounded so right to me and that day onwards I started spelling my name as Subhalakshmi many years later, I split it for name change purpose and it was Subha Lakshmi.. I thank him for that. also feel Subha also depicts morning and I am sun worshipper, I feel one with that light and this just fits right..

sorry wrote a huge story.. O yeah, he was at that time working for a movie production called Subhalakshmi pictures.. how strange!!! :-)

When I danced for a movie they did spell it out as subhalakshmi in telugu, I was happy.. :-)

Dear Valli... I enjoyed the postings of you and Bushu ji and very happy to note the secret behind the name change of Bushu ji, pleased to read that she was a dancer that too participated in the movie group. Wow! that's a wonderful news to read. Thank you Bushu ji for sharing such a fantastic news with us. As I was busy with exams in my school and other things, I couldn't get time to post songs. We are winding up for our Diwali Break next week, so many things to be completed. Any way, today I got enough time to see your songs and spend my time with you.. I was missing Valli's msgs and comments very much. Hope you are fine Valli..
Here are my contributions, hope you all will like it....

dear subha,

suspected i have seen you in movies along with sai. bharatanatyam dances were a staple of those days movies - and we had duos, kamala/radha, lalita/padmini, roja/meena or sai/subha lakshmi. used to provide a welcome relief from the melodrama usually!!

good stuff :)

this one is L.R. Easwari and SPB.. sounds very different his voice I mean.. nice song..

wow subha,

where did you get this? veetukku veedu was definitely a 'suvaiyaana seedai' movie. a small budget but big on comedy. it did not fare too well at the box office though.

i thought it was pretty sophisticated for its time. if anyone knows of a copy online, please let me know. thanks.

If there is a will, there is a way too dear valli, keep in touch with friends is also necessary and a way of relaxation. I work extra hour, plan my day to do my postings and allot time to read some articles so that I can post them here. Without reading/ or without proper research I can't post any thing..Right?? But I like it... When you start something, you should show the courtesy in consistency too. or else just stop and enjoy the efforts of others. As simple as that. Let me try to keep up with my pace and see how it works out. Thank u so much for your nice encouraging words valli, Thanks and with love.. Anandi

Thank you Valli, my name Bushu comes from the Bush Radio we had at home... My father used to call me with all kinds of endearing terms as a baby and in fact until he passed on he did that.. I believe some astrologer said that I may not survive the first year so they never had a proper nama karnam, because I got very sick and overnight they had to get the dispensary open and get medication...I guess he knew the owner.. anyway, when he used to call me " boooosh" or something like that.. I started imitating him with my mouth and sounded like Boo, so I became bush(u) you know how we all add an aa or OO to some names.. so till this day all my close friends and family call me that.. in fact many don't know that my original name at all.. :-)) somehow I feel both names suit me and my personality..

As far as the movie connection dancing/connection goes, I appeared as a child Nageswara Rao in "Dongalo Dora" and in "Dorikite Dongalu" danced with Jamuna and did a full song in the classical movie "Ekaveera" they are all in telugu.. the latter two are available on You Tube.. I had three major offers, but I declined, since I did not want anyone to say anything negative about me.. my father did say, I could act only in his movies if I wanted... but I had no fascination at that time..

In the last ten years, I have done tamil plays, appeared for three commercials for local Indian merchants and also did two, totally out of character roles, for two young women who had low budget films locally meaning in New York..

I have danced on stage during school and college days and also choreographed about 17 songs, semi-classical, folk and some bollywood type, mind you not the very raunchy type, I have my own style, I never watch any song from the movie when I do that.. I simply follow my heart when I teach.. :-) (I was trained in Bharathanatyam by K.J. Sarasa and Kuchipudi by Vempati Chinna Satyam)

I guess I have given you pretty much my whole life here.. :-)
