I am safe.
The area, where I live, which is virtually on the bank of river Adyar was inundated with heavy flood on all sides and with the result we were isolated like an island and totally disconnected from the outside world.
There was lot of problem experienced in rescuing the affected families. Each family was having its own problem like one family was having a wedding within two days, the other having a paralytic attacked bed ridden patient requiring immediate medical attention, one family had just born twins and others who were reluctant to come out to be accommodated in the temporary shelter arranged.
One of my relatives family, whose house was inundated, was accommodated with us.
The boat that was arranged to rescue the marooned went break down, to our disappointment.
My son who came from Bangalore brought relief materials which he arranged through his contacts, like biscuits, milk and drinking water bottles. These were distributed to most affected in our locality.
There was no mobile connectivity. None of us could be contacted and we are unable to contact any of our kith and kin most of whom are settled abroad.
There was no cable connection and TV sets went silent
There was no power supply which brought everything to a halt, I mean right from drinking water (R.O), food stuff, vegetables, medicine, milk, petrol, supplies. etc. etc
Only now normalcy is returning with restoration of power supply, cable connection, internet facility, etc.
I thank the God for the opportunity of being able to accommodate few relatives with us and to provide relief materials to affected sections in our area.
