hi

i heard that ONLY 2 institutions are not following reservation policy....indian army and ISRO...i may be wrong...we can do

a lot.....ONLY ON MERIT....NOT WITH BIRTH BASED RESERVATION....

It is demeaning to reduce this Victory of the entire India to sectarian divisions. The people dividing this moment to a select group are no better than the militant group ISIS. Shame on these people.
This is a glories moment for India, and ISRO. Let us celebrate it as a victory for all of India. We Indian people have every right to say to those trying to divide us, SHAME ON YOU.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is clearly delighted. "Today Earth has met Mars" he said, before congratulating all the scientists at Isro and every single Indian over the success of the mission.
"Travelling an incredible distance of over 650 million kilometres, we have gone beyond the borders of enterprise and human imagination. We have successfully navigated our spacecraft on a route known to very few. We have dared, to reach out, into the unknown: ", he continues.
The PM sounds a little bit like the narrative of a Star Trek show. Will he soon say, "Space... the final frontier?" Who can blame him though? What an absolutely exciting time for India and Mangalyaan! And it is significant that he is using English on such an internationally significant occasion. India now takes its place among a very elite group of nations who have actually managed to send missions to Mars, and the first Asian nation to do so.

That is the prime minister of entire country speaking.

What an anti climax!

Martians themselves will be celebrating that Indians are closer to them now and yet the Indian can only see the reservation policy.

Cheapest Mission to Mars

Cheapest Mission to Mars

If India’s Mangalyaan space probe successfully enters an orbit around Mars on Wednesday, the country will have made history – twice.

It will be the only nation so far to reach Mars on its first attempt. It will also have spent the least amount of money to do so.

India’s Mars mission has a price tag of about $74 million, a fraction of the $671 million cost of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s latest Mars program.

A success would be an important advertisement for a business India hopes to enter: sending satellites and spacecraft aloft at a fraction of the cost of U.S. and European competitors.

In June, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi boasted that India has spent less to reach Mars than Hollywood producers spent on the movie “Gravity,” which cost $100 million to make.

To hold costs down, India relied on technologies it has used before and kept the size of the payload small, at 15 kilograms. It saved on fuel by using a smaller rocket to put its spacecraft into Earth orbit first to gain enough momentum to slingshot it toward Mars.

“India has cheap indigenous technology,” said Ajey Lele, a researcher at the Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses, a New Delhi think-tank. He said cost-saving innovations “came out of sheer necessity.”

The Indian Space Research Organization has always operated on a shoe-string budget. In its early days, space scientists worked out of an abandoned church near its first launch pad.

Later, after India carried out nuclear-weapons tests, other countries refused to share their technical know-how, limiting India’s access to sophisticated technology. “India had no option but to develop its own,” said Mr. Lele.
Today, India spends $1.2 billion a year on its space program. In comparison, NASA has a budget of $17.5 billion for the year ending Sept. 30.

Some critics say India, a country where more than 300 million people live on less than $1.25 a day, should concentrate more on terrestrial issues. Others argue that the space program will help to fight poverty and boost development by driving innovation in communications services and meteorological forecasting for the country’s largely agricultural economy.

The cameras have gone live with the first set of pictures from Mars! The view is nice from there-So goes the tweet from ISRO's Mars Orbiter! May be we have a Mars colony in the near future!

It looks like my bathroom floor.lol

Anything from Mars we are ready to lap it up and there will be millions of takers! May you can show your bathroom floor to ISRO & they will buy the snaps from you for a neat sum just in case the camera fails!LOL!!

Every Indian should proud about our Scientist and now hopes are developed that BJP's target of Research & Development will bring the India to world No.1

I am curious to know if Martians exists and how they look like..what is all guys on Mars look like Greek Gods with 6 packs!

Our ISRO looks great in terms of value for money! But there are a whole lot of Government owned units which are an eye sore! What a contrast between ISRO & Air India! If only all our Government organizations follow in the foot steps of ISRO! We will be a different country altogether!

A famous cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has commented" If Mars were to send an Earth Orbiter Mission to Mumbai and got back pictures, they would conclude that earthlings live in garbage! LOL!!

Average age of Indian population is significantly smaller than that of many countries including China. This is a huge advantage.
Many bureaucrats trained in British legacy continue to live a corrupt way of life while 'oozing' with pessimism and cynicism. They are fast disappearing and becoming irrelevant.

In late 1990s many educated people in India did not even know about the existence of a beast called Internet.
Two decades has brought about enormous progress in certain segments in India.

The world of information where knowledge work rules has the capacity to also bring out the best in people (as well as the worst).

I think if a small segment of Indians make commitment to higher quality output the country can leapfrog over many in just a decade.

There is no dearth of talent in India. There are many in the world that want to see India succeed. I am overall very optimistic...

If he focuses on garbage that's what he will see!LOL

You cannot ban imports altogether..When local products are able to excel or equal Chinese in terms of value for money, market itself will lap it up..Why should the Government intervene..It is not Onion or Tomato business where Government intervenes to correct any price raise

if govt of india does not itself buy made in india products for Make in India campaign we become laughing stock of the world.

forget price or excellence in this . it is a matter of promoting an image of self reliance and our ability to manufacture in india.

one does not promote Make in India campaign piggyback on chinese shoulders .lol

Sure we should promote Indian quality manufacturers provided they of standard quality...I have heard about Sandisk, Samsung. Sony, HP, Toshiba etc among USB's..Not sure if we have any Indian manufacturer worth the salt..We cannot have another Akash tablet misfiring on us...There are so many state governments going in for mass purchase of lap tops..why is it that not a single Indian Company has taken the lead in this..Why are we forced to go to HP , Dell or Toshiba?

What is there to doubt made in India products.

Almost 80% of antibiotics I buy for my clinic are Made In India.

If medication can be produced and manufactured so well..why cant other products too sell?
