A Movie 'worth' viewing...


I am not in the habit of seeing movies regularly..especially the tamil movies..Not that I want boast myself that I want to fall in the category of "We Don't see Tamil pictures"..but I am realy fed up with these movies for past few years..Don't start to say I am getting 'Old' and it is a well known problem for all the 'oldies'..I am not old enough to discord all the 'earthly' pleasures..!!.. Having done a course in the Film Institute in early days..and having associated with few short films.. I am unble to accept/ digest the poor handling of scripts/ directions etc..etc..which have become victims of commercial mass exploitation of viewers..So the continuous show of these 'Garbages' even in various channels of TV makes me sick..and to the relief for my better-half.. I don't see these 'Things' ..so that she gets enough time for her favourite items.. [ Don't ask me what they are.. I am yet to gather my courage to know..!!]


A week back I got a call from my Mumbai Friend who is still having connections with film world ...suggesting to see the Movie "ENGLISH-VINGLISH" made in Hindi and being dubbed in Tamil/Telugu.. and expected to be released by 5th.. Having got a call I coud not discord the suggestion and waited for the inevitable..When I informed my better-half about this and decided to see it after release.. there was a commotion and every one in the family wanted to see ....may be my dis-comfort .!! Finally the 'D' day came and I have seen this movie at MayaJall ...yesterday...


I am not here to write review about this film..but I must admit that after a long..long time here is a movie where the script writter and the director have done realy good work..
It is a very difficult task to develop a 'single character' theme and to make other characters as suppliment..and I must say..the film has suceeded in presenting such a viewable situation..Eventhough there are tell-tale flaws in the theme..those things are simply swept away by the actors perfomance as well as the fast paced narration style..


So if anybody wants to experience a new type of 'Movie culture' [hope it will be sustained..!!] I can suggest....


1. Go to any theatre where this film is running and the most important 'thing' is you can see with FAMILY without vulgar dances, akward comedies..etc...


2. Wait for someone to load it Internet so that you can down load..[ you will miss the theatre experience]


3. Get a pirated CD which may flood the market shortly..


4. Wait for few months for the TV channels to show it


Suppose you NEVER wants to see any film..well..no
problem..Heaven will not fall...!!

I too stopped watching movies either on T.V or in theatres long back....after the advent of teen age heroes and heroins came into the scene. Needs a lot of patience to watch.

I have to wait to see English-Vinglish till it is loaded on internet or when it comes on T.V after a few month. I guess by that time I would be back to Hyderabad.

let the movie be good or bad .but the way you have narrated is fine .it contains the sorrow feeling with your usual way of telling in lighter vein .i memory carried me to think of kathalikka neramillai sri nagesh .

Very natural acting, good humour and wonderful music too!

But I rate EV better than Mozhi since there is no much compromise on commersial interest..in EV...

I somehow do not like movies where I have to think!LOL

I love Tamil movies and Hindi movies especially B grade ones where movie is more on Romance and dancing around trees and fights where one guy hits a 100 guys.

Item numbers are a must! No item number I would not see movie!

I like comedy track especially double meaning comedy!LOL

Heroes and heroines need to look good!
I dont care if they can act or not.

Since I am paying money to see the movie I need to see people who are better looking than me on screen.

What's the use of seeing a movie where heroine is not at all pretty and the audience looks prettier to her!

I avoid movies which are nominated for Oscar or win the critics award!

They are bloody boring most of the while...I recommend my patients with insomnia to see such movies.

I avoid art movies especially art movies where actresses look oily and dirty!


Glamour! Glamour! ..I need Glamour on screen.

I like movies where woman are Bimbos cos story line is easy on the mind.

Bimbos come on screen..flash their flesh, lip sync their dialogue and just go.

I never watch a movie where a heroine can speak Tamil well and not dubbed cos those who speak Tamil well normally come with good acting skills and do not take up Glamour on screen.

Homely actresses should just stay in kitchen and do amma or suffering tangachi roles.

Most important, directors should know to stay behind the camera and not stand in front of camera.

Likes of Cheran should NOT be in front of Camera.

I like movies where there is dance after a bout of Daru Sharu where guys dance with Vesthis that have not known the laws of gravity!

After a long day of work...I really want to enjoy and relax and not spend time Thinking Winking seeing English Vinglish!LOL

P.S I like Sri Devi better as a Glamour Doll and not as a Thinking Woman.

Ha.Ha.very nice presentation of individual taste...!! ..The old Movie 'JAGAN MOHINI' [Tamil & telugu] with JayaMalini made only to cater to the tastes of people like you.. and it was a very successful movie commercially..!!

I use to love Silk Smita the best followed by Anuradha and Jayamalini.

I remember one song in one movie where Anuradha had an item number with Janakaraj and the song goes as "Naan Oru Uttaman Illai... Nee Oru Pattini Illai!"

Song was really catchy.

I do not find anything wrong in it as you have already stated your likeking..But choosing a suitable actor/actress for a

particular character is not a easy job..Here a middle aged lady is verywell presented by SriDevi..

A glamour doll can not/should not be as glamour doll always...As you & I are aging they too and your glamour doll is a

extremely talented actress... like Banumathi in yesteryears..

You see cinema is an industry..so when anyone has aged and lacks glamour, I do not like to see them on screen too much.

Sri Devi is still very glamorous and beautiful and really very slim now so I still like her lots!.

Some yesteryear actress are like Blue whales in dimensions and they are happily swimming in the ocean of TV serials! So I do not like TV Serials!LOL

We need to see beautiful actress on screen to keep the interest of cinema alive in us.

You are I are NOT actors so if we age no one really cares!LOL
