Lord Rama, after putting an end to Ravana, worshipped Lord Siva at Rameswaram and then came to Tiruttani to find perfect peace of mind by worshipping Lord Subrahmanya here.

Lord Rama after putting an end to Ravana first came to Pandi koil which is on the Madurai to Manamadurai highway and prayed there to Pandi and offered 1008 goats in sacrifice for getting him Victory. Then he came to my native place in Tirunelveli District and prayed before the Agni Maadan there and offered 1008 chicken in sacrifice for the same reason. He took all the goat and chicken meat to his next stop. I am not sure about where he went next. It might me Rameshwaram or some other Kameshwaram. As usual there are two schools of thought -- a Rameshwaram school and a Kameshwaram School. They have not yet finished their fight and so we do not know where Rama went. We await the outcome of the fight to determine where Rama went.

There are puranic evidences to all this. But being in the modern times only Wiki can be taken as authentic coming right from the mouth of the proverbial Horse. So a Pandi Koil poosari's son who is well educated and is a BE is writing a piece for Wiki and soon it may hit the website and may challenge the existing brahmin handiwork of Rameshwaram and its story.

LOL.

Oh My God..................What's happening? So far there is a fight between Hindus and other communities. Then we had it within Hindus between various casts, keezh jati, mel jati, Brahmin non Brahmin, now... within brahmin which one is osathi?? My goodness! Cultural differences are okay, but do you really mean to say Gods are also divided between sects and subsects? In case only Iyers or Iyyangars are set to go to Heaven what if one has to make a choice between the subsects? who out of vadakalay or thenkalay would be preferred one or who among Vadamas, Brihacharanams or vathimas or so on would be the choicest one to get a ticket to Heaven? Are we really living in 21st century? So far only certain religious fanatics used to say that only believers of their faith are favorite to God and He will only accept them in Heaven.. Thoughts of our TBs seems to be even challenging that. If heaven is that sort of a fruit I think I would be the last one to choose it. According to me, Swargam and Narakam is creation of our own mind. You can enjoy both in this virtual world in our very own earth. The one who does god deeds and keeps people happy gets the same in return and leads a happy content and peaceful life and enjoys all the comforts of life which is nothing less than Swargam. No body knows about life after death. Only read from our religious books. Why should one fight for what is known or experienced by destroying the peaceful co existence of his present life thus making it equivalent to "Narakam" Think...Think...Think... and respond please.

NB: This post does not intent to hurt any one's feelings. Please don't take it as personal..

Dear Athimber,

Our woe in this august forum is that whenever we finish our discussions & debate we do not know how to close the thread and then we get into a personal wrangle with name calling until the moderator steps in to do the red editing and as a grand finale close the thread..May be we have reached this stage now! Happy ending

Dear Praveen,

I think you can close this thread!!

Rama could have offered his 1008 சேவல் காேழி in Thiruthanni - There is a counter by devasthanam accepting these நேத்தி கடன் by devotees!

This is a Guru ஷேத்ரம் for Dikshidhar - who found his Guru Guha here and comes out with this song Shri Nathadi Guruguho" in the ragaMayamalavagowla. and made Guru Guha his signature

But மானசீக குரு feels Tiruthanni is Kurukshethra where he has to fight dutybound!

Dear Athimber Sir,
In a lighter vein, I I T M students have found the three degrees of ego, in ascending order! :decision:

Raji Madam,

The tone & tenor of posts changed today...I guessed that it will be washing dirty linen in public..நீ உசத்தியா, நான் உசத்தியா type!!
Because we think we are உசத்தி, we feel bad when I C and I R marriages happen!

OMG! Again the topic of marriage!! :faint2:

The best way is to live and let live!
Let each one be free to choose his / her own ishta Deivam and  .

Why fight among ourselves, dragging the Almighty in the discussions?
Let :peace: prevail!

Oh! Lord Krishna!
Look what I have done.
I have created a battle field and infighting among my TB's.
They are killing each other with words.
Please stop this carnage!

This is common, don't worry about it.
Then again why do you think you are the creator?

In Bhagavad Gita TEXT 2.47

You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty.

Thank you all for a wonderful and lively discussion!
We will move on with exploring Spirituality and Science with Sravna
I concur with the request to the administrator to end this thread.

No thread should become a battle field. I also extend my consent for closure of this thread as opined by many other members.

Well Gods dont fight over நீ உசத்தியா, நான் உசத்தியா ? - In fact they have presented as equal before their devotees to suit their degrees of Ego There are puranic evidances and not posting by the BE qualified Son of Pondi Koil Poojari.

You can see them as Sankaranaryanan in degree 2 ego temple in Sankaran Koil

Once the devotees of Lord Hari (orVishnu) and Lord Shiva quarreled with each other to determine whose god is powerful. Then Lord Shiva appeared as Sankaranarayanar to mark his devotees to understand that both Hari and Shiva are one and the same. So it is held sacred by Saivites and those Hindus who believe that Siva and Vishnu are a single deity one in one and accordingly, desire to worship the two gods into one form. Srivaishnavites of Tamil Nadu who worship Lord Vishnu only, have not accepted the mingling of Siva and Vishnu thus, and therefore, they reject this deity of this temple which depicts the concept of Hari and Haran being one God

As Prassan Venkatesar in ego 3 temple in Tiruparkadal!

Vishnu Stands on Sivan

Moolavar

It is an interesting part. It is said that one Vaishnava Maharishi named Pundareegar visited Thiruparkadal to have Darshan of Sri Ranganatha swami. But he found a Siva lingam into the sanctum Sanctorum named Sree Doseswarar instead of Vishnu, by seeing this he was disappointed and returned.
Lord Vishnu wanted to fulfill the aspiration of the Vaishnava devotee, and transformed himself as an old vaishnavite, and enquired Maharishi. Maharishi shared his disappointment with old vaishnavite. But the old man insists that it is only Thirumal Sannathi and asked the Maharishi to visit the temple once again, and accompanied the Maharishi to temple and then disappeared. Maharishi walked right into inner Sanctum of the temple and seen the Thirumal with Abhaya Mutra standing on Siva lingam.

தன் இனம் வாழ்வதைக் காணப் பொறாதவன் தமிழன். :suspicious:

வந்தாரை வாழவைப்பான்....சொந்த மனிதர்களை அல்ல. :nono:

தன் இனத்தாரையே காணப் பொறாதவன் ??????? :decision:

:moony:

Why the veeram of maRath Thamizhan is missing in us? ;)
Anyway, Athimber Sir has to request the moderator, to close this thread. :lock1:

P.S: Magic wand still missing!! :(

We may close the thread, we can "sweep it under the rug", but the dirt stays. This thread and this forum exposes the chasm that exists among us. We can close our eyes and wish it away, but it does not go away.
Why can we not bridge that gap? Is there a solution?
