Why should we help them..?

When I was in India..there was a Kashmiri Brahmin guy studying Dentistry.

He was quite open about the fact that he never felt he is Indian.

He said he is a Kashmiri and never felt the need to be called an Indian.

It is natural because of art 370 which differentiates kashmiris from the rest of indians. Anyway he is lucky to study dentistry in india, instead of death and rape and assault in kashmir. Some of the 1 lakh pundits who left kashmir leaving everything behind and came to india at the height of terrorist action are still in refugee camps, many have settled down in different cities pursuing education and jobs. They did not get any compensation for the property left behind and trauma suffered. Only the next generation is grouping to claim their rights and space. They can hope to return only if terrorism is rooted out and pakistan mends its ways. BJP has included in its election manifesto - return of pundits with compensation. Wonder whether your friend will wish to go back, if he is well settled in india or USA.

after partition india faced the issue of muslim majority pockets in hyderabad deccan, bhopal . they were made state capitals and demography radically changed.

unfortunately kashmir got hopelessly divided between two countries .

this problem is a left over issue of indian partition defying a solution.

it requires leaders with a lot of vision to find an acceptable solution

the feeling alienation the population of a state have is exploited by a minority fringe

if the state is put on the road to prosperity these feelings of extremists will also have no takers.

it requires large scale intervention from rest of the country and a feeling of brotherhood towards all.
