[h=3]War of words erupts between AAP and BJP over Prime Minister’s degrees[/h] THE POLITICAL firestorm over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational qualifications intensified Monday with the BJP producing what it said were copies of his graduate and post-graduate degrees, and the AAP terming them as “forged”. The Congress joined the war of words by saying that the BJP, instead of answering doubts, had raised more questions while the CPI(M) demanded a probe into all allegations. The latest round of charges and counters was triggered by BJP president Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who said at a press conference that AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had lowered the level of public discourse by spreading “lies” and committing “the sin of defaming the country”.

[h=3]China coordinates moves with Pakistan to block India's entry into NSG[/h] By Smita Prakash Washington D. C., May 12 (ANI): China and Pakistan are closely coordinating moves to block India's entry into the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG). Beijing is using Pakistan's Non Starter position with the NSG to block India's application in the name of parity, stating that it would either support NSG entry for both India and Pakistan, or none of them. Talking about the China - Pakistan grand strategy to stall India's admission into the NSG, well placed U.S. sources who work with the NSG said from all counts it does appear that China and Pakistan are coordinating closely to stop the Indian entry.

[h=3]Safer helmet would not have saved Hughes - report[/h] By Ian Ransom MELBOURNE (Reuters) - Phillip Hughes would not have been sufficiently protected from the ball that struck and killed him during a cricket match 18 months ago even if he had been wearing the highest-standard helmet, a report into the Australian's death said on Wednesday. Hughes was struck on the back of the head by a rising delivery when batting for South Australia in a Sheffield Shield game at the Sydney Cricket Ground in November 2014. "The helmet was compliant with an Australian standard, which has since been withdrawn, but was not compliant with the more recent British standard," the report, led by barrister David Curtain, said.

  • [h=3]For parched throats on Mumbai’s lifeline, a sip of hope[/h] Dressed in his white kurta-pyjamas, Singhania hands out bottles of cold water to eager hands. Carrying nine 2.5-litre bottles in two large canvas bags, Singhania boards the 8.54 am slow local to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, heading to Masjid Bunder where he works, long past retirement age, as a cashier at a private firm. For six days a week, without a break for about 30 years, Singhania — a name few recognise him by — has boarded this train and conducted this same ritual, now a labour of love, repeating it on his ride back home from work.

Shall I tell you secret sir?

When I used to address the gatherings in English as the President of a Lioness Club,
I could hear soft whispers sweeping through the auditorium with the words

"Madarasee! Madarasee! Inka evaru ilaaga maatalaada galaru!"
(Who but a Madarasee can speak such good English?")

I used to feel grateful to them for the good impression they had on all Madarasees! :)
