A robotic surgery makes use of two electronic arms that are controlled through a console by a surgeon. The facility is increasingly being used for oncological, gynaecological, urological, colorectal, gastrointestinal, thoracic and bariatric surgeries, with close to half-a-dozen hospitals in Mumbai offering it.

[h=3]Prostatic artery embolisation easier way to cure prostate enlargement[/h] New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) With rising cases of prostate enlargement among elderly men, surgeons have suggested the problem can be tackled in a much easier way if the patient undergoes Prostatic Artery Embolisation (PAE), as it ensures fast recovery. According to experts, the procedure helps improve urinary symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate, or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), without the risk of sexual side effects, which is the biggest advantage. A catheter is inserted through the artery and directed toward the prostate.

[h=3]Disproportionate assets per se not crime: SC[/h] State assails Jaya's acquital by Karnataka High Court The Supreme Court on Wednesday said disproportionate assets per se is not a crime unless it is proved that such wealth was acquired through illicit means. “Disproportionate assets per se is not a crime. Tasmanian devil returns to San Diego Zoo after pacemaker surgery

A Tasmanian devil named Nick is back in his exhibit area at the San Diego Zoo after receiving a pacemaker to make his heartbeat normal. In January, zoo veterinarians discovered that Nick suffered from an abnormally slow heartbeat and his cardiologist decided that surgery was in order. Nick is only the second of his species on record ever to be implanted with a pacemaker, according to staff at the San Diego Zoo. “His heartbeats were too slow and now the pacemaker is going to actually take over (pacing) his heart and is going to determine when to pace fast or slow depending on his activity,” said Dr. Joao Orvalho, a cardiologist at the University of California, Davis, Veterinary Medical Center in San Diego.

[h=3]New aviation policy has fare cap for 1-hour routes: Rs 2,500[/h] AN all-inclusive airfare not exceeding Rs 2,500 per passenger for one-hour flights to promote regional connectivity will be a “game-changer” in the new national civil aviation policy to be submitted to the Union Cabinet on Friday, Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey told The Indian Express. If approved by the Cabinet, the policy will enable new carriers like AirAsia India and Vistara — both operated by the Tata Group via joint ventures with foreign carriers — to operate internationally. Sources said that consensus emerged during inter-ministerial consultations on thorny issues in the much-awaited policy, such as conditions related to permission for domestic airlines to fly abroad, the open sky policy and the regional connectivity scheme for non-trunk routes.
