'Udta Punjab' fails to fly high at box office on first day

The initial response of the film, which addresses the issue of drug menace in Punjab, left the distributors disappointed on Day One, despite the controversy. The opening has certainly not been encouraging considering the controversy," distributor Rajesh Thadani told IANS. The film, starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh, got a wide release in around 2,000 screens.

DESPITE a ban on oxytocin in India, violators are managing to lay their hands on the ‘ hormonal injection’, widely used in dairy industry to boost milk production in cows and buffaloes, by importing the drug in disguised names. The Union Health Ministry has recently seized the imported oxytocin vials under disguised names of peptides and amino acids. Oxytocin is a peptide of nine amino acids ( a nonapeptide).

Issuing a statement, the MEA clarified that Mallya was not an invitee at the event in London attended by the Indian High Commissioner.
