Is a plane supposed to skid/ slide / skate???

[h=3]Turkish plane skids off runway in Kathmandu, airport closed[/h]Kathmandu, March 4 (IANS) All 224 passengers on board a Turkish Airlines flight had a narrow escape when their Airbus A330 aircraft skidded off the runway at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) here early on Wednesday morning. The terminal, Nepal's only international airport, was ordered shut till 4 p.m. on Thursday as the airport does not have equipment to relocate the aircraft from the runway, authorities said. The Turkish passenger jet, while landing at TIA -- where torrential rains for the last three days have rendered the weather foggy and visibility poor -- missed the central alignment of the runway and skidded on to the adjacent grassy surface around 7.45 a.m. on Wednesday. All 235 people, including 224 passengers, aboard the Turkish Airlines flight TK-757 from Istanbul were evacuated through the emergency doors.

Meteoric rise may be marred by a volatile temper!!! :nono:

[h=3]#360View: Virat Kohli's volatile personality will stop him becoming a legend like Sachin Tendulkar[/h] Virat Kohli can never be the next Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli may bat like Tendulkar, and smash all the records in the game, but until he realises there are several other things in this world to respect other than a good-length delivery, he is never going to earn the kind of admiration and love that players like Tendulkar, Brian Lara and others have through their exploits. What transpired between Kohli and a senior Indian journalist in Perth on Tuesday over something written about his personal life needs to be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

[h=3]Mars Had an Ocean, Scientists Say, Pointing to New Data[/h] After six years of planetary observations, scientists at NASA say they have found convincing new evidence that ancient Mars had an ocean. It was probably the size of the Arctic Ocean, larger than previously estimated, the researchers reported Thursday. The body of water spread across the low-lying plain of the planet's northern hemisphere for millions of years, they said. If confirmed, the findings would add significantly to scientists' understanding of the planet's history and lend new weight to the view that ancient Mars had everything needed for life to emerge.

  • [h=3]Live-In Partner Cannot Claim Relief Under DV Act: Dimple[/h] Rajesh Khanna's wife Dimple Kapadia and her family today sought quashing of the proceedings against them initiated by the late actor's alleged live-in partner, contending that a woman in such relationship cannot claim relief under the Domestic Violence Act. Anita Advani, the alleged live-in partner of Khanna, had in 2013 filed a complaint before a magistrate under the DV Act against the yesteryear superstar's estranged wife Kapadia, their daughters Rinkie and Twinkle and son-in-law Akshay Kumar. Advani had claimed she was evicted from Khanna's suburban bunglow after his death and sought monthly maintenance and a three-bed room flat in Bandra. "Even if it is accepted that the complainant (Advani) was in a live-in relation with Rajesh Khanna, she cannot claim any relief from Khanna's estranged wife and family who have never shared a roof with her," Dimple's lawyer Shirish Gupte told the court of Justice M L Tahaliyani.

[h=3]Wine from Civil War-era shipwreck uncorked in South Carolina[/h] By Harriet McLeod CHARLESTON, S.C. (Reuters) - A bottle of wine recovered intact four years ago from the 1864 wreck of a Civil War blockade runner that sank off the coast of Bermuda was uncorked and sipped by a panel of experts on Friday during a food festival in Charleston, South Carolina. The wine was uncorked at a Charleston Wine + Food event titled "From Deep Below: A Wine Event 150 Years in the Making." About 50 people bought tickets to watch as a panel of wine experts decanted and tasted it on Friday evening, organizers said. "I've had shipwreck wines before," master sommelier Paul Roberts said.
