Do you know why I like a mirror?
It serves in two ways two different kinds of people.
The one who is falsely accused and called filthy names

Dear Renu,
We will KNOW everything that we want to know IF ONLY we learn to stay connected with the Supreme Intelligence which is the combined Intelligence of all the living creatures.
Call it by any name...wisdom, Intelligence, common sense ( which is very very uncommon) but it is the extended wisdom of the Supreme being! :hail:

You can't be more correct sir!
We see that names either define people or defy them.
Prema may be the name given to a person who literally hates everything and everyone!
Poornima may be the name of a person who is as fair as the New Moon on the Amaavasya day!
Mithra may be the name of a person who has not one friend in the world.
Swaminatha (or any name of Murugan) may be the name of the dumbest person on earth.
It is as though we have in the name what is lacking in the person.

நேர்மை, வாய்மை
நேர்மை என்பது நம் மனம், மொழி,
செயல்களை ஒருமைப்படுத்துவதே.
நேரில் ஒன்றும், மறைவில் ஒன்றும்,
செய்யாதிருப்பதே நேர்மை ஆகும்.
பேச வேண்டும், நாம் எண்ணியதையே;
பேச்சும், எண்ணமும் வேறுபடக் கூடாது!
பேசியதையே நாம் செய்ய வேண்டும்;
பேச்சும், செயலும் மாறுபடக் கூடாது!
ஒன்றை நினைத்து, மற்றதைப் பேசினால்;
அழிந்து போகும் நம் வாக்கின் நேர்மை!
ஒன்றைப் பேசி, மற்றதைச் செய்தால்;
அழிந்து போகும் நம் உடலின் நேர்மை!
தன் நெஞ்சு அறிந்து பொய் சொன்னால்,

Straight – forwardness implies the uniformity of our thoughts, words and actions. Our actions and words in front of a person and behind his back should not differ in any way.
We must speak our genuine thoughts and we must act according to our genuine words. The thoughts and words must not contradict so also our words and actions must not disagree. If we think and speak differently our words get defiled. If we talk and act differently, our actions get defiled.
One should always be true to himself. If it is certain that a truth revealed is sure to hurt some one, then we are allowed to speak a harmless ‘white-lie’ to defuse the situation.
When a person’s thoughts, words and actions differ he will tend to become a split personality – truthful neither to himself nor to the others around him.

முதிர்ந்த கதிர் தலை சாய்ந்திருக்கும்;
முதிராத பதர்கள் வானம் நோக்கும்.
நிறைந்த எடைத்தட்டு கீழே செல்லும்;
குறைந்த எடைத்தட்டு மேலோங்கும்.
கனிந்த மரக்கிளை பணிந்திருக்கும்;
கனி இல்லாதது விறைத்து நிற்கும்.
கனமுடைய பொன் நீரில் மூழ்கும்;
கனமில்லாத மரம் நீரில் மிதக்கும்,
பண்புள்ளவர்களே பணிவுள்ளவர்கள்;
பணிவுள்ளவர்களே பள்ளம் போன்றவர்.
பள்ளத்திலே தான் வெள்ளம் தங்கும்;
வெள்ளம் பாய்ந்துவிடும் மேட்டிலிருந்து.
குருவின் உபதேசங்கள் வான் மழைபோல,
குறைவின்றிச் சேரும் எல்லோரையுமே;
உள்ளத்தில் உபதேச மொழிகள் உறையும்,
பள்ளம் போல அது பணிவாக இருந்தால்!
வெள்ளம் போலப் பாய்ந்து உபதேசம்
வெளியேறும், உள்ளம் ஒரு மேடானால்.
மேட்டு நிலம் வயலாகாது; அது வரப்பே.
மேன்மையான வயல் பள்ளமானதே!
பணிவும் வேண்டும்; துணிவும் வேண்டும்;
வேண்டாம் அகந்தையும், ஆரவாரமும்!
பணியும் நாணல் புயலைத் தாங்கும்.
பணியாத மரமோ புயலில் வீழும்.

WATER AND THE WORDS OF WISDOM.
The well grown ears of grains bend down while the worthless chaff stands upright!
The heavier side of the scale moves down while the lighter side moves up.
The branch of the tree laden with many fruits bends down under their weight while the branch which has no fruits is rigid and straight.
The heavy gold chunk sinks to the bottom of water while the lighter wooden block floats on the surface of water.
The humble people are the honorable people. They can be compared to the low lying areas which can store water. The high lying areas cannot store the water.
The upadesam of a satguru is like the rain and falls equally on everyone-without exhibiting any partiality. If the person is humble and has the right mental make up, the upadesams are stored there and he benefits from them. The proud and the conceited mind is like the high ground and lets the upedesam run away from it.
A person must be humble in his heart. But he should not be a coward either. Humility is different from cowardice!! One should be humble in disposition and yet bold in what he stands for. A tiny grass withstands storms while the well grown strong trees get uprooted in the storm.
It is wise to develop a humble disposition so that our mind can collect , store, absorb and benefit from the words of wisdom of mahaans. It will help us to live a peaceful and useful life.

Dasaavathaara snack. 
The young daughter-in-law prepared many things for Gokulaashtami puja. All of them were the traditionally prepared items except the mixture.
The clever son asked his mother, “Why are you not offering the Dasaavathaara snack to Krishna?”
The orthodox mother was more than willing and eager to offer the
Dasaavathaara snack to Krishna along with the other items prepared.

Happiness uses up the good merits (puNyam) earned by a person.
Sadness uses up the bad merits (paapam) earned by a person.
I seem to be exhausting both my puNyam and paapam here.
PuNyam because of the happy togetherness with my loved ones.
Paapam because of the unhappy togetherness with certain folks!
When both my Punyam and my papam are exhausted fully
I will be totally liberated and I am looking forward to it!
Sadness uses up the bad merits (paapam) earned by a person.
I seem to be exhausting both my puNyam and paapam here.

உள்ளத்தை நோக்கி ஓடத் தொடங்கும்.
உள்முகமாகச் சென்றால்தான் பல
உண்மைகள் நமக்குப் புரிய வரும்.
உண்மைகள் புரிந்த பின்னர், நமது
வண்மைகள் நமக்கு நன்கு புலப்படும்.
அதிகம் பேசுபவராக இல்லாமல்,
மிதமாகப் பேசுபவராக மாறுவோம்;
சக்தி வாய்ந்த நம் வார்த்தைகளை,
யுக்தியுடன் நாம் பயன்படுத்துவோம்.

SILENCE IS GOLDEN.
A half filled vessel spills over. A vessel completely filled does not spill over. An empty vessel makes the most noise. The chaff flies high in the blowing wind while the heavy grains fall down and stay on the ground.
God has given us two ears but only one tongue. So we should listen to more than what we talk! Even the dumbest fool can pass for an intellectual or even a philosopher…as long as he does not open his mouth and expose his ignorance.
We must talk only to persons who are willing to listen to us with interest-just like the cow responding to the stimulus of the calf be secreting more milk.
The milk kept on fire rises to the brim and then spills over. In the same way the mind must be filled with thoughts and only then they must come out through the mouth as words – to the satisfaction of the speaker as well as the listener.
We should not waste our time in useless talk, chit chat, bickering, back biting, complaining, commenting and comparing others. Less we speak, better the others will listen to it.
Only when we refrain from talking, our thought waves cease. The mind becomes free and starts exploring the inner self. Only when we travel inwards into our mind, the mysteries of the creation will be revealed to us. Our mind is mini universe in itself!
Let us not waste our words any more. Let us all become ‘Mitha Baashi’ like Lord Sri Rama and speak only limited and necessary words.
Words are powerful and sharp instruments. Let us learn to us them wisely.

பயனில்லாச் சொல் பாராட்டக் கூடாது,
புறம், கோள், வம்புகள் பேசக்கூடாது;
முத்து உதிர்ந்தார்ப் போலப் பேசினால்,
உற்று கவனிப்பார்கள் மற்றவர்களும்.
பேசாத போதுதான் நினைவலைகள்,
தூசாக அடங்கிச் சற்று அமைதியுறும்;
பள்ளத்தை நோக்கி ஓடும் வெள்ளம் போல,
உள்ளத்தை நோக்கி ஓடத் தொடங்கும்.
உள்முகமாகச் சென்றால்தான் பல
உண்மைகள் நமக்குப் புரிய வரும்.
உண்மைகள் புரிந்த பின்னர், நமது
வண்மைகள் நமக்கு நன்கு புலப்படும்.
அதிகம் பேசுபவராக இல்லாமல்,
மிதமாகப் பேசுபவராக மாறுவோம்;
சக்தி வாய்ந்த நம் வார்த்தைகளை,
யுக்தியுடன் நாம் பயன்படுத்துவோம்.
வாழ்க வளமுடன்,
விசாலாக்ஷி ரமணி.
SILENCE IS GOLDEN.
A half filled vessel spills over. A vessel completely filled does not spill over. An empty vessel makes the most noise. The chaff flies high in the blowing wind while the heavy grains fall down and stay on the ground.
God has given us two ears but only one tongue. So we should listen to more than what we talk! Even the dumbest fool can pass for an intellectual or even a philosopher…as long as he does not open his mouth and expose his ignorance.
We must talk only to persons who are willing to listen to us with interest-just like the cow responding to the stimulus of the calf be secreting more milk.
The milk kept on fire rises to the brim and then spills over. In the same way the mind must be filled with thoughts and only then they must come out through the mouth as words – to the satisfaction of the speaker as well as the listener.
We should not waste our time in useless talk, chit chat, bickering, back biting, complaining, commenting and comparing others. Less we speak, better the others will listen to it.
Only when we refrain from talking, our thought waves cease. The mind becomes free and starts exploring the inner self. Only when we travel inwards into our mind, the mysteries of the creation will be revealed to us. Our mind is mini universe in itself!
Let us not waste our words any more. Let us all become ‘Mitha Baashi’ like Lord Sri Rama and speak only limited and necessary words.
Words are powerful and sharp instruments. Let us learn to us them wisely.

செவிடன் காதும் ஊதும் சங்கும் !
ஒருமுறை கேட்டேன் அறியாமையால்,
குருவிடம் நான் ஒரு சிறிய கேள்வி!
“பாங்குடன் உலகைக் காக்கும் கைகளில்,
சங்கு, சக்கரம், கதை, தாமரைகள் ஏன்?”
சிறு குழந்தைக்குச் சொல்வது போல,
சிரித்தபடியே சொன்னார் எங்கள் ஆசான்.
“இறைவன் நல்வழி நடப்பவர்களுக்கு,
சிறந்த தாமரை மலரினைத் தருவான்.”
தவறு செய்வோரை, சங்கொலி எழுப்பி,
கவனத்துடன் நடக்கும்படிச் சொல்வான்.
செவிடன் காதில் ஊதிய சங்கானால்,
செவிட்டில் அடிப்பான் கதையினால்!
தடுத்தும் மீண்டும் வரம்பு மீறினால்,
எடுப்பான் சக்கராயுதத்தை!”, என்றவர்
“உங்களுக்கு வேண்டியது தாமரையா,
சங்கா, சக்கரமா?” எனக் கேட்டார்!
கனியிருக்கக் காய்களைக் கவருவோமா?
இனிய தாமரை இருக்க மற்றவை எதற்கு?

THE CONCH AND THE DEAF EARS.
I asked my guru one day, “Why does the protector of the creation – VishnU-carry a lotus flower, a conch, a mace and a discus?”
My guru was pleased with my question and replied with a smile.
“God will present the lovely lotus flower to everyone treading on the path of dharmA. He will blow his conch and warn the person who commits occasional mistakes.
He will give a light blow or a gentle knock with His mace, if the person continues in the path of adharmA. If His warnings fall on deaf ears, He will use His discus. Which of these do you want to get?”
We are not fools to prefer sour fruits to ripe sweet ones nor the conch, the mace and the discus to the lovely lotus flower!

The kids here use pencil grips for writing. Believe me or not.
I COULD NOT write even one line holding one of the pencil grips!
