The concept of public performers becoming public property goes back to the days of Kings and Lords.

The term "DEvar AdiyAL" originally meant "One who serves God " with her skillful dancing and music.

It later got corrupted to the degrading term 'thEvadiyAL ... thanks to the

lust filled kings and lords who can't keep their hands off any pretty woman.

Even the rulers of today hold on to this concept. It is a pity they take pride in doing so!

I remember the scene and song "Mannavan vandAnadi" where Padmini confront Sivaji with this question.

The pleasure given by any woman is the same.

Then why chase all the women who want to remain chaste and pure?

Apparently the pleasure given by any woman is NOT the same.

Or the men want to add more and more the their list of women whom they have tasted! :(
 
There was a time when if the performer was too young to serve the purpose of providing pleasure,
the unfortunate mother of that child will be expected to serve that purpose!

Only after educated ladies came forward to dance and propagate dance
the dancers have got some dignity conferred on them - willingly or unwilligly.
 
Did the ring make her sing?

What has made that lovely lady cling?
To the man she adores as her king?

As if tied to him tightly by a string?
Was it something rare he did bring?

Something worthy of the word 'fling'?
To make her so happily hum and sing!

It sure must be a large diamond ring

The rich want to become richer and richer.

The stinking rich want to stink more by become more rich!

Some go to the extent of manipulating the existing system to suit their personal needs.

A timely reminder that we came naked and empty handed in to the word and

will be sent back from the world in all probability in the very same manner!

கத்தை கத்தையாய் பச்சை நோட்டு,
கலகலக்கும் நாணயக் கூட்டு,
இவைகள் அளிக்கும் உற்சாகம் ,
இனிமை, அருமை, பெருமை, உண்மை !

தேடித் தேடி பொருள் ஈட்டி,
ஓடி ஓடி அதைப் பெருக்கி,
நாடி நாடிச் செலவுகள் செய்து,
கூடிக் கூடி இன்புறுகின்றோம்!

உலகில் வரும்போது வெறுங்கை,
உலகை விட்டு செல்லும்போதும் அதுவே!
சேர்த்து வைத்த செல்வம் எல்லாம்,
சேர்ந்து வராது செல்லும் போது!

எத்தனை அழகிய வீடோ, மனையோ,
எத்தனை சிறந்த உடையோ, நகையோ,
எத்தனை அதிக பணமோ, காசோ,
எத்தனை செல்வச்செழிப்போ, களிப்போ,

செல்லும் போது உடன் வராது ஒரு
செல்லாக்காசு கூட! நாம் சேமிக்கலாம்;
செல்வத்தை கொடுக்கலாம் வாங்கலாம்;
செலவுகள் செய்து மனம் மகிழலாம்!

வங்கிப் பணம் எல்லாம் “டெல்லர்” வசம்,
வங்கியினுள்ளே இருக்கும் வரையில் தான்.
வெளியே அவர் செல்லும் போது, ஒரே ஒரு
வெள்ளிப் பணமாவது அவர் கூட வருமா?

ஆம், நாம் எல்லோரும் டெல்லர்களே!
ஆனால், நாம் உலகத்தின் டெல்லர்கள்.
உலகமே ஒரு பெரிய வங்கி ஆவதால்,
உயரிய மனிதர்கள் அதன் டெல்லர்களே!

அவர்கள் வங்கிப் பணத்தை உரிமையுடன்
ஆளுவது போலவே நாமும் உரிமையுடன்
ஆளலாம் நம்மிடமுள்ள செல்வதை! நம்
ஆயுள் உள்ளவரை தான், பிறகு இல்லை!

நல்லதையே நினைத்து, நன்மையே செய்து
செல்லும் வழியை நல்வழி ஆக்குவோம்.

Imho, the lyrics of the song 'Mannavan vandhAnadi' could have been better. One line lures the king to 'taste' the dancer!

Why did she ask for the swaram 'dha', 'thanimaiyil varavA?'. Where is the need for a chaste lady to go to the king in 'thanimai'?

That line should have been avoided. YES! :)

Even without being invited some people
holding any position with some power attached to it
grope / molest / rape the women under their power freelance!

In fact the easiest way for the dare to bare women
to become multi millionaires overnight is to
get harassed and demand money for keeping silent.
 
If people who do not lead a good life (since they are very poor)

and can not afford medical expenses ( since they are very poor)

DO NOT need any medical insurance coverage

how come those who lead a good life ( since they are very rich)

and those who can afford medicare ( since they are very rich )

are the ONES who need medical insurance coverage very badly??? :confused:

 
Poor go to the government hospitals for free (somewhat!) treatment. :sad:
Rich and very rich go to 'fleecing' hospitals and want to be assisted by an Insurance company! :couch2:
 
What are "The Cabbages and the Roses?"

So there was a heated debate as to why we should grow roses at all

and why not more cabbages in the land used for growing those roses.

Well we can't give cabbages instead of flowers nor make soups with roses.

Man needs both Roses and Cabbages... may be more cabbages than roses or the other way!

So do not ask why do we need the big and beautiful botanical gardens

when we can built so many more houses/apartments in those large areas!

Moral:

Man has NOT just a stomach (which is always hungry and needs to be satisfied )

but also a heart ( which has an aesthetic sense which also needs to be satisfied)

Two honest and genuine doubts from the bottom of my heart!

If they can lead good lives how can they be poor?

If they are poor how can they lead good lives???​
 
The pretty fink in a pink mink!

The lovely lady need not prink;
She was dressed in baby pink.

பணியும் நாணல் புயலைத் தாங்கும்.
பணியாத மரமோ புயலில் வீழும்.

Have you noticed this and wondered about it?

For small children the face is oval shaped with its breadth greater than the length ( b>l)

As the child grows the face becomes oval but with the length greater than the breadth. (l>b)

When the grown up goes under knife and the skin gets stretched

the long oval face with cat's eyes becomes the broad oval face one again.

So what else must be done to conceal the scars/ marks left by the knife?

Wear the hair like veil and it will conceal everything that needs to be concealed!

Here the ladies here will look very different and almost unrecognizable

IF their hair is pullback and tied into a pony tail or a bun!
 
The water here is almost like dilute Hydrochloric acid.

The hair becomes thiner and finer everyday.

During the past 6 months they have become

like silver wires drawn very thin.

So the thinning of the hair is due to two reasons!

The hair falling off on daily basis and

the hair getting worn out of on daily basis! :(
 
EVERY (NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE) ACT IS MADE POSSIBLE BY AN ATTRACTIVE INCENTIVE OR A DIRE THREAT!

What keeps these old women going
Despite their continual age-ravaging?

Was it a part of the prenuptial contract
That forces the aging body to contract?

Did the perpetual dangling threat tease

அடிக்கும் அலைகடலில் படகேறி,
பிடித்து வந்த மீன்களை எல்லாம்,

இருண்டு, கறுத்து, உறுமும் வானமும்,

என்று முதலில் ஒருத்தி கூற, “ஆமாம்,
எனக்கும் மூச்சு முட்டுகிறது பூ நாற்றம்!”
என்று மற்றவர்களும் கூறலாயினர்.

உள்ளவர்களில் அறிவு மிகுந்த பெண்
உள்ளத்தில் உதித்தது ஒரு எண்ணம்;
மீன் கூடையை எடுத்து முகர்ந்தால்,
மீன் வாசனையில் பூ நாற்றம் போகும்!

அனைவரும் தம் தம் மீன் கூடைகளை,
ஆசையுடன் எடுத்து முகர்ந்து கொண்டு,
மழையும் நின்று மழை மேகங்களும்,
மறையும் வரையில் காத்து இருந்தனர்.

மணமும், நாற்றமும் அவர் அவர்களின் ,
மனத்தை பொறுத்ததே அறிந்திடுவோம்!
பழகிய நாற்றமும் நறுமணமே ஆகும்;
பழகாத நறுமணமும் நாற்றமே ஆகும்!

Must be the man wearing a plume;
That young man who seemed to loom.

Her ex lover was in very deep gloom;
His friend was the one who did fume.

Soon the signal for dinner did boom;
The wedding guests filled the room.

The welcome drink flowed like a flume;
