Rejoice, and men will seek you;
Grieve, and they turn and go.
They want full measure of all your pleasure,
But they do not need your woe.
Be glad, and your friends are many;
Be sad, and you lose them all.
There are none to decline your nectared wine,
But alone you must drink life's gall.
Dear Amalaji,

Thanks for a wonderful poem post. These lines are really beautiful..heard in one Hindi Kavi sammelan "Dukh mein aapka Chhaya bhi aapka saath nahin Deta"... so true words alone you must dringk life's gal".. very nice one.

Cheers.

A woman’s beautiful heart attracts a lover,
A woman’s beautiful character attracts a man.

This is about Cicero's quote. It is not good, surely. Knowing the past helps avoid mistakes committed in the past. I think it is more in the lines of George Santayana's 'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it'.

When we hear of a person's demise, we generally ask "How did he die?".
We do not ask "How did he live?". The focus should be on the kind of
life he lived.

"Our lives are not determined by what happens to us but by how we react to what happens, not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst, a spark that creates extraordinary results. "

Normally if a person does a job hesitatingly or reluctantly, it appears to be
difficult and it may not be that easy to achieve i.e. thunder accompanys lightning
or cloud embraces its silver lining.
