We need Modi’s brand of shock and awe

What a hilarious misunderstanding of history, and partial reading of history.

The typical rant of RSS, blame the muslims. What is the plan, no blueprint, just a castle in the sky. Just like Sangom ji says "return to glorious days", is totally false, there was no glorious days for common folks. It may have been glorious for Kings. The princely states were rich on the back of the poor. Most of the kings squandered the money on their lavish styles, and did not even spend money on defending their territory or the people. So every invader could take away piece by piece of the land.

In the op expressed that Modi might be different and after this show of strength he will get back to work on hand. I hope he does.

Fear factor gone, post-Modi Gujarat turns communal again

This is the report from times of india after a long long silence. Obfuscation, hiding facts and truth is obvious. There is no news on the cause, perpetrators, and religion of people engaged in riot and stabbing. No reference to godra train burning but to riots afterwards.

"AHMEDABAD: Narendra Modi's tallest claim at the end of his almost 13-year reign as Gujarat chief minister was flawless law and order situation in the state, but for the blemish of Godhra riots. "After 2002, Gujarat has not seen violence," he would often say.

After Modi's flight to New Delhi five months ago, the fear factor is gone. Goons and bootleggers are toying around with Gujarat police, often attacking them in public. Communal violence has resurfaced in recent months and clashes have been reported in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar and other places.

Almost as if the rule of law is gone, the men in khakhi are at the receiving end with criminals mounting brazen attacks on police in Ahmedabad, Vadodara and most recently in Dabhel in south Gujarat where three policemen were injured in a mob attack on Tuesday. This came close on the heels of the Eid incident at Shahpur in Ahmedabad, where the mob snatched a pistol from a police sub-inspector and allegedly tried to lynch him.
In Vadodara, where sporadic mob violence has been reported in recent weeks, cops were openly targeted.

Only recently, a gang of bootleggers thrashed cops when they raided a den in Gomtipur, Ahmedabad.

Times view

When trouble erupted in Vadodara during Navratri, the police should have anticipated the spread of violence. Their failure on this count reflects the puzzling drop of guard since Narendra Modi's departure to Delhi. Bigots of various hues have been making irresponsible statements, bootleggers have been assaulting cops, and there is a general sense of the police force being on the back foot. It is time that law enforcers reclaimed their hold over law and order and prevented Gujarat from turning into a communal cauldron again.
