Wednesday is supposed to be very precious! There is a saying in Tamil, 'pon kidaiththAlum bhudhan kidaikkAdhu!'.

May be that is why 'Big Bazzar' outlets in Tamil Nadu give lots of discount on Wednesdays. (Wednesday shopping!)

P.S: Money saved is money earned, right??

Wednesday is the lean day for all malls..Naturally the shop keepers tend to attract more crowd through discounts..It has become advantageous to shop on a week day esp. Wednesday than a week end

After typing out 'pon kidaiththAlum bhudhan kidaikkAdhu!', I Google searched for additional info. about this saying.

I found an interesting blog written by Sri. Ramaneeyan. He says that 'pon' refers to the golden colored Jupiter and

it is easily visible to the eyes. Even if you get to see Jupiter, it is difficult to see Mercury (Bhudhan)!

(kidaiththAlum = kaaNak kidaiththAlum).
Quite interesting!

For those who can read Tamil, here is the blog:

Pon kidaiththaalum........

P.S: But......... I have seen Mercury several times in the night sky! :thumb:

The OP is a "cut and paste" from this source: Wealthy Wednesdays: Does Money Matter? | Latest News & Updates at Daily News & Analysis

A genius observation, particularly when the source was given in the OP. So Dr. Watson what else can you deduce from the post. Or do you have some very original observation that you got as divine revelation from God.
Isaac Newton said:
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
I do not think any of us ever get an original thought, all thoughts and consequently all writings are inspired and conditioned by thoughts and writings of others. It is totally arrogant to claim originality of thought, and demean others who give credit to their source.

I will let the other forum members to do the judging and draw the proper inferences and conclusions.

Forum members do that all the time. They do not need that "special privilege" only you can provide. So let us come down from that lofty perch to earth. We all are human, and there is no point is claiming your superiority over anyone else. The days of British Imperial Raj is gone. So stop thumbing your noses at the natives because you are one among the natives.

You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.
Abraham Lincoln

This applies to bullying also.

I think Prasadji has given the original references of the article quoted by Smt Raji Ram instead of giving the reference to the article as such..

My 2 cents on this is as follows which we can try to follow in our site:

In case we are fully quoting an "article" which has been made from multiple sources then we can give the reference of the "article"

In case we are doing an independent research based on the "multiple sources" provided in the article then we can give the reference of the "multiple sources"

Thanks for the interjection, I think you are tying to help. Let us get our facts right. I found this interesting piece, and I wanted to share it with the members on this site.
I got the article from a publication and I gave the information about the source in my OP.
I am not aware of any article from Rajiji. My source was FORBES magazine, if they had another source, I am not aware of it.
Vganeji, you quote from various source and make it an interesting post, should we label you as "cut and Paste" artist too? If we all had to come up with only "original" post policed by self styled administrator, this site and most of the other site will die, If you do not want to participate in a thread, there is no compulsion to comment. There is no room for bullying others on style or spelling just to show one's superiority.

Dear Prasad Sir and Ganesh,

I don't understand what is going on! Since the OP was about Wednesday, I gave the info. about Wednesday discounts in some shops!

And also gave the link to an interesting blog about 'pon kidaiththAlum bhudhan kidaikkAdhu' which I got by Google search!

Hope I am clear! :)

Cut and Paste is useful since a reader does not have to go to another site and still quickly browse the content posted.

The nice thing about this section is that it is like that old publication 'Kalkandu' - with all kinds of information being made easily available.

Almost all regular posters quote the exact source and hence it is never an issue for me.

Google God is watching over all information and hence it is easy to find all related information.

Let us continue the tradition of cut and paste and citing sources.

There is just a minor misunderstanding in this thread from my perspective .. I think we can move on !

Prasadji,

Mine was only a suggestion....You can take it or leave it....This is not an alarming issue for our site...Let us move on.

this transaction can perhaps also respect the sentiments of TKSji,and vgane ji and continue posting regarding the subject

of the thread

RRji

Pon is wealth pudan is a planet for education related to study...Therefore even if one has lot of wealth...study or education can only be got by people who are intelligent only but not by wealthy people

BTW, I wonder why you did not give the direct source of the OP which is the one given by Naina Sir, viz.

Wealthy Wednesdays: Does Money Matter? | Latest News & Updates at Daily News & Analysis
Rajiji,
That is not a fair question. When you quote a source, that is enough. It is up to the reader to dig any deeper. Even your reference is not original as each individual quote in the post has its own origin. That collection of quote has been reproduced so many different ways.

When you quote from Tulsi ramayan you do not say that you should have given the reference from Valmiki Ramayan, because after all Tulsi ramayan is influenced by Valmikiji.

More over the charge of copy & paste was not for the source, it was a style statement. The pointing out a different source was purely for ...........

Like the members said we have moved on.

Dr Ross

I think you meant "Copy-Paste" and not "Cut-Paste".

That's all that goes on in some of the threads - sometimes a flood of these with less
than a minute's interval between some posts - as though someone were in an
absolute hurry to just "Copy-Paste" something, before somebody else gets there !

Try treading into it [ ask a few questions about a quote or post ] and one sort of gets chased out
like an intruder from some exclusive, elite territory - suggesting that they haven't imbibed anything.

Sorry folks - this visiting turtle just peeped in briefly today and didn't notice any 'moving on' .

So Dr Ross, the "Copy-Paste" syndrome is pretty chronic in some people - I suggest you just
look the other way .

Yay Yem

Dear A M Sir,

Please do not discourage C n P!

Most of the threads would not start otherwise!
Let us keep moving............ :car:

P.S: I too C n P some of my write-ups posted earlier in this forum!

The discouragement is not for CnP per se, but doing so without attribution to the original source which created and reported the posted item . Attribution to the internal references quoted by the original source without mentioning the latter is not proper. There is in fact a name for it.

I understand Sir! :)

Hence I was kidding in another thread about 'over reaction'!

Please don't consider that comment as an offence!
