exchange of husband for some money -can it be really called a sale. if some old ladies offer money along with husband would it be called sale or donation. I am asking from the view of income tax under which head does one put it . pay sales tax or claim tax relief on donation.
these are all my concerns on a hot afternoon in delhi . I am unable to go out and have to remain indoors for the afternoon.

.

What about depreciation of the movable asset( a.k.a husband)?

That should be taken into account during tax submission!LOL

Movable assets include items that are not necessarily part of the building. For example movable assets have an asset purchase cost of $5000 or greater per unit and depreciate monthly for the life of the asset.(taken from Duke Financial Services)

If husband is the asset, would wife be the liability?

Marriage is considered a Karmic Debt carried out in a contractual manner in this world and is legally binding and a social obligation.... so going by that definition it matches with the definition of liability...individual in cases of monogamous marriages and company in cases of polyandrous marriages.

Liability: An obligation that legally binds an individual or company to settle a debt.

No Dr Renuka

They would be classified as NPAs [" Non Performing Assets "] if they exceed 55 years in age or 30 years
of continuous married life with the woman selling such NPAs. - whichever is earlier.

I guess, such disposal of NPAs would be subject to auction and full rights ownership would go to the highest bidder.
The transaction would attract "Service Tax" at 12.36% if the value of such transaction exceeds Rs 10 lakhs in a Financial Year.

But if the Seller is actually paying a Buyer to take away an NPA, it would tantamount to " Nuisance Disposal " and the
recipient of such NPA should be exempt from any Tax.

Such transactions however, would be governed by State Laws concerned with Disposal of Hazardous Waste - Various
State Pollution Control Boards have strictly laid down norms for this.

You must own as asset before you can sell it, or it is a fraud. Not that ladies would not commit fraud.
Selling useless assets would be unethical.
The buyer has to contact the asset (the husband) to go around the price point.
The foolish wife who was trying to sell the unpolished diamond as unwanted glass piece will be sorry when the true polished diamond is resold for millions.

yay yemji comes closest to the right answer. NPA would appear to be the nearest definition.with added tax free expense for nuisance. not many will qualify under the hazard clause except some talking in chennai tamil and inviting trouble for others in this forum.lol

Oh come on Renu,

Shhhhh! I wont tell you.

If for 30 years she couldn't tell the difference between a piece of glass and a diamond,
then she really doesn't deserve to have the diamond.

Far as she is concerned, it's just an NPA - for someone else it is of great Value !!!

- Oh, now krish 44 will ask about VAT { Value Added Tax } and whether it is an
inter-state transaction that will involve CST of 4% and whether such transaction will
be exempt from Tax in Union Territories such as Pondicherry .

Everything is less expensive in UTs - because of the concessional tax regimen.

So, ladies can look forward to buying these cheap in Union Territories or Duty- Free Shops.

What is this new polish that can polish Maamas?LOL

Most mamas gets polished by self importance. it is so nice to see the maamas carry themselves with pride. Matter of fact, there will be few mammas feeling as great achievers at any given time. You may notice more of them around any temple.

If the mammas have a fat bank balance, that would be more polish material too.

And I am proud of that. I am more direct! I accept your comments as compliments!
