A Tamil Brahmin Dilemma

The brother make a fortune but finding it difficult to find a bride for the unmarried They own luxurious 4 Bed Apartment & Honda city The girls are not impressed - they prefer boys of other profession and jobs and ready to settle for 2BK apartment and Hero Honda!

The Responsibility of carrying the mantle of Brahmin Caste/community/culture/customs & Traditions is entrusted with the respective Sankaracharyas and then by them through Learned pandits like sastrigals. If as the member of the community/caste, we do not discharge our duties by offering them suitably and also come forward to marry young vaideha professionals, then no one ever has any right to point any finger at the community and say it is deteriorating. It is by us / within us / through us / to us.

krishji,

I have added numbers for convenience. Now please read my reply:

1. You are not a Government Babu and yet are well aware of how these babus work/ do not work. LOL. About the socalled high sounding words please refer to the my reply under no. 4 below.

2. No one expects Doctors to treat patients without a fee. Period. There is no need to go on a lecturing tour on this.

3. No one claims that businessmen should not make profit either. The least that is demanded is that they should not horde and make commodities/goods scarce artificially and exploit helpless people. Govt. takes care of such a misdemeanour.

4. Your understanding was wide off the mark-as usual. I mentioned my being a brahmin only to stress the fact that my value system does not accept doing half baked jobs, cheating the exchequer, earning a living doing nothing constructive to the society, etc., This includes being a civil servant and receiving salary every month for doing nothing useful to the society. There may be other value systems which have these values in them or may not have these. I know my value system and its origin and I said that. Your attempt to score a point by hanging on to the word brahmin is childish to say the least because your understanding of brahmins has a lot of superior inferior binaries. I have no such prejudices. Period.

5. Please read last sentence of the above para. I do not claim any superiority or special rights being a brahmin. For me "brahmin" is just a label with which I search a vast database of human beings quickly. Nothing more nothing less.
!. I am not a govt babu . yet I understand their mind since I have a large circle of tamil brahmins in central govt

4. Being a brahmin does not mean that someone will have a value system you claim you have and expect other brahmins possess and other castes do not have.

brahmin is just a label you have given to yourself and arrogate to yourself the right to sermonise and pass judgements on all and sundry.

Value system is inculted not by virtue of birth alone in a community but a lot of factors. Family is just one.

5. you may not openly claim superiority but you do try to exercise some special right to criticize and run down others who care too hoots for your views...

May be a good idea for a retired babu But a disadvantage for young Babus if they are not married - Our Sastrigal in Banglore had gone to Palakkad. leaving huge crowd of clients to be taken over by his sons! His elder son was aready in the profession assisting him and has stepped into his father shoes! - His younger son a bachelor working in State bank resingned the job and lured into this profession! The brother make a fortune but finding it difficult to find a bride for the unmarried They own luxurious 4 Bed Apartment & Honda city The girls are not impressed - they prefer boys of other profession and jobs and ready to settle for 2BK apartment and Hero Honda!
Vaitheekam is a dying profession.

Younger generation is getting away from it.

Hope and pray they succeed.

பரிஜாரம் another profession Under Brahmins Hold is dead already The caterer / contractor might be a Brahmin but most of the staff under him are பாேலி with a பூணூல் & their உபசாரம் in Brahmin Lingo is all sham! This situation is not yet so in புராேகிதம் - our Vadhiyar in Bangalore could not Mobilise suffient Prohithars needed for the காரியம் after my Mothers death 2 years ago locally - had to get them from Hosur and near by places! Looks a pardox lots of money in this Profession yet no takers Even girls of Purohiths prefer boys from different profession!

There is lot of money one can made today in a Metro as a CAB Driver but few takers for the same from people who have passed out from Engineering Collages . Many pefer to work for peanuts in a Compnay rather than earn lucartive money as a Cab Driver . A relative of mine who was working for one of the CAB Comapnies told me that many Enginnering Grads who had been jobless for the last 3-4 years prefer to work in their Office doing some Clercial stuff and earn peanuts while the Drivers of the Cabs earn a lot ( sometimes 2-3 times than these Clerical staff ) . It is not that these Enginnering Grads are not aware of the same , they feel if they take on the role as CAB Drivers they will become the butt of joke of all their family members , friends who will tease them saying why did u study BE to end up as a Cab Driver and moreover no one will be willing to marry a Cab Driver from their own Circle .

Collecting 4 vadhyars anytime together in banglore is an issue if they are vaishnavite.

For a function I am importing them from chennai.

They expect me to provide accomodation in addition to travel expenses.

Thats why I was saying becoming a vaishnavite vadhyars even as a sidekick to main one is good money.

Others can change their caste sign to increase their income.

Recently I helped the daughter of my sons cook whose husband is a prohitar to get an IT professional as a matrimonial match. She did not want to marry a prohitar parents had

selected. She herself was educated and working in a decent job.I got honoured by the family for this act .

Lucky escape for the girl.

True there is a supply demand mismatch worsened by logistic problem - Solution - to increase the tribe - pooling all Brahmin Vadhiyars (Vaishnivaite & Saivates) and they can perform the rituals with their caste marks or can change it to the clients needs! Sundra Pandiapuram near Tenkasi is an excusive Iyer Habitat no Vaishnava - with Rajagopalswamy temple The Pujas are done buy Iyer Vathiyar Only during Brahmotsawam in the month of தை they import Vaishnava Vathiyar with all Perks enumerated by you for 10days!

This vadhyar shortage is not contained only to TBs or hindus. It is the same story even in other religions. To call a father to perform a function at home one has to pay heavy charges and wait for availability date, similarly in case of muslim communities, the shortage and charges are high. We may have to invent a new religion where there are no restrictions and no need for such occasions, may be we can approach the courts to appoint government for such things, a separate ministry and departments with manpower. Robots can also be built take charge of such jobs. Very soon it might become a reality. One Robot programmed to perform multiple functions in multiple religions for which the charges will be deducted from the bank account directly.

Good Idea, Ji! :)

But already there exists 'different rates' for performing ceremonies and poojas!

The orthodox ones in any community worry about the charges but the others go for shortcuts!

Appears like cutting the foot to size the shoe! :D

Madam,

What is Rs 1.25 lacs....6 savaran..That's it...Is that a symbol of richness...Also what is wrong if archagar also gets rich...

Many Temple Priests , VAdhiyars do not keep money much in Banks or in other financial products like Shares , MF etc . They receive payment in Cash and either keep it Cash or buy gold for the same .

This is the problem with Smarthas. When vaishnavite Gods are also worshipped by Smarthas, and the rituals are being performed by Smarthas in the above case, as there is no vaishnavite around, what is the necessity of bringing a vaishnavite for a specific purpose?

You are endorsing Iyer girls to marry Iyengars due to population.

But, for performing rituals, you are importing your people from Chennai. Cann't you do it with Smartha Vadhyars?

Long live your way of secularism.

In order to get legitimacy in a vaishnavite temple, authentic vaishnavite vadyar with caste mark is a must.

otherwise, vaishnavite God would not accept prayers and offerings of bhakthas.

Changing caste marks by other brahmins appears to be acceptable also.lol

I happened to have the contact details of this vadhyar whom I had come across at a family function.

I could arrange simply with a phone call.

I wanted a vadhyar and this one happened to be vaishnavite.

If you know an enterprising vadhyar of any other variety PM me .

I will use his services next time.

I keep an open mind on such things.

what matters is availabilty, reliability and finally cost of services,

For finding matches for children, my approach is the same.

Availabilty, proximity besides education, job score over vaisnavite or saivite differences.

I am open for compromise on brahmin sect if other requirements are met

Dear J J ji,

I saw one archakar in Vadapalani Murugan temple, who scolded those bhakthAs, who dropped 2 / 5 rupee coins in his plate!

He was shouting, 'When you spend 75 rupees for a dhOsA in the nearby hotel, why not drop at least a 10 rupee note, here?'

Previously when people dropped 25 ,50 paise coins they were scolded for the same and asked to drop 1 Rupee coins now might be due to inflation they have hiked the min rate to Rs.10. LOL

the value of money depreciates depending on distance.

If you are from delhi , one thinks 10rs on archakar plate is ok ,If you are fronm abroad ! dollar equivalent ie 70 rs is ok. Locals will think of 5 re coins atbest
