Song No: 10 "Nindrum Irundum"
This is one of the song, which has its very delightful intended meanings.
When you simply go through, it states that while standing, sitting, laying or walking, bhattar always thinks of devi.But the intended meanings are so many in this.
1. There are no actions done by human beyond this. Apart from sitting, standing, laying and walking there are no other postures at all. So, in all the states bhattar thinks of devi.
2. Nindrum denotes "Shiva", Irundum denotes "Brahma" and kidandum denotes "Vishnu" (Nindurm - Nataraja; Irundum- always seated in lotus; Kidandum - always laid in snake-bed). So where comes the nadandum? All these 3 actions does not require energy. Only this nadandum requires energy. That is, "Nadandum" denotes "DEVI" (the form of shakthi). Also, nadandum takes the meaning of "happened". All these three actions of shiva, brahma and vishnu happened because of devi.
3. Also the action of nindrum denotes "Rajasa guna", Irundhum denotes "Sathvika guna" and kidandum denotes "thamasa guna". All the persons having these gunas are worshiping devi.
Next line, is "endrum vanaguvadhu un malarthaal ezhuthamaraiyin"
Here also it takes various meanings.
1. Her feets have been fixed in vedas (which are denoted as Ezhuda marai (not written manuscripts)).
2. Her feets have been fixed in raising lotus (Ezhu + thamarai) (here she can be considered as lakshmi and saraswathi, who are the devis incharge of wealth and knowledge and devi in their form blesses her devotees who always think of her).
3. Her lotus feets have been like that of deer which jumps (ezhu + Tha + marai), which means raising and jumping deer. It means she will comes in such a fast to protect her devotees, who always think of her even while walking, sleeping, or standing.
Of all the namas of devi, the nama "UMA" got its own speciality. It is the combination of "a" + "u" +"m" (which is the "omkara". It also means that "don't leave me". Such is the power of this nama. Bhattar has aptly used this here.
In all these 100 verses, bhattar has nowhere mentioned about the "Mena" (wife of Himavan). Here also he says that "Imayathu andrum pirandha". Because, devi herself took the form of a child and got directly in the hands of Himavan. SO,it is the himavan who is her father/mother here. Because, he only did penance like that (Always thinking of devi).
When we think of this song, it looks like bits and bits. But while thinking it deeper, we can see the continuation. If we worship devi as mentioned by bhattar, she will come and help us as she did for Himavan and she will also gives us "Mukthi". Bhattar also refers this mukthi as "Azhiadha mukthi", which cannot be detsroyed (a permanent mukthi) will also be attained by worshipping devi.
