Why not ? Dr.J.Jayalalitha has proved to be a good leader of a major Political outfit in Tamil Nadu. The common people have reposed their faith in her and elected her four times to rule Tamil Nadu. She may look obstinate in her chosen opinions, perhaps that is her strength. If she manages to get more than 35 seats in Tamil Nadu, she can bargain for PM's seat. We have seen Mr H D Deve Gowda elected as PM with much less number of seats in Parliament.
The recent elections to Delhi Assembly has shown any thing can happen in Indian Elections.

Dear Sri Chandru,

You are correct. It should be three times. However during her Second term of Chief Ministership she had to vacate her post from 22 sept 2001 to 1 March 2002 and twice appointed as CM from 14 May 2001 – 21 September 2001 and 2 March 2002 – 12 May 2006.

She is a Brahmin by caste? It is a shame to Brahmin Community? Do you know the background or foreground? OMG only can save this sort of thinking.

Tambrahms are not craving for Amma as she is a Brahmin..Infact MGR a non brahmin was the darling of Tambrahms after he split from DMK..So after MGR whoever had the mass support in the party got the support from all communities including Tambrahms..Amma is very religious & has taken care of temples, has provided welfare measures for the people and is now providing a good administration..This is not in any order....This is what, I think...Also this is all relative...I hope you understand relative to whom..Even if Amma had been a non brahmin she would have got the Tambrahms support for all the above 3.

Whatever may be her qualifications and disqualifications, I think she is a real Brahmanic Dravidian in that she is born of a Palakkad Iyer married to an Iyengar and educated in Bangalore and property interests in Andhra perhaps. Head of ALL INDIA ADMK that makes her eligible for PM post.

If her father belongs to Palakkad Iyer community, naturally she is an Iyer.
However, Iyengar people say she belongs to their community. If her father
belongs to Iyer community, what is his sub-sect?

She is the head of AIADMK and she herself made her eligible for PM post. Good joke.

Had Amma been a non brahmin, she would have got a much more whole hearted support of the brahmins..Now atleast, they need to put a lens and be extra strict in their judgment just to ensure that their support is not viewed as biased on account of her community!
