But we don't have deities everywhere. Therefore we can conclude people have the sense to discriminate between ordinary people and great people. My point is deification is not harmful as it is made out to be. That everything must be looked at "critically" by everyone is just a specious argument.

I think one has to be humble to see greatness in others, but if one is arrogant that they think they can judge others "critically" they can never see greatness in others. They can not see past their noses.

[h=1]"Cast the first stone" in the Bible: John 8:7[/h]
Jesus faced a mob that was eager to execute a woman caught in adultery. He put a stop to it with a simple challenge: anyone who has no sin in their life should step forward and throw the first stone. That sentence is often cited as a reminder to avoid judging others when there are faults in your own life that need to be addressed.

Dear Mrs. RR, I know I am wading into troubled waters and if I have any better sense should keep the heck out. But I know I am not endowed with that kind of better sense, so here I go. .......
Coming to the meat of the matter, Shri Sangom has laid out how the whole thing developed in post #137. Not only that nobody has bothered to challenge him on his account, but nobody has really taken up his substantive criticisms. .........
Dear Prof. Sir,

The sequence given in post # 137 is not correct. The very first post from me with reference to Thyagaraja was how he

describes the hypocrites in one of his songs and later wrote that he does not refers to any caste in the song. (I have also

seen many nonbrahms have very early bath and do poojA.) Describing the Gods worshiped by Thyagaraja as two humans,

a female and monkey-man was not in a good taste! Hence I replied. Also, when a composer is kept in high regard by people,

it is totally unnecessary to abuse his personal life. Anyway, now that my posts are considered 'Trash' by the esteemed

member of our forum, I too need not worry about what he writes!

P.S: It seems everyone is afraid of 'Niththi'. There is no response when I described him as one of the hypocrites
here!

I would beg to disagree to a great extent. The society as a whole is loaded with time-servers and hypocrites. So some impact of the same in the attitudes of brahmins is inevitable. But if we take a long-time perspective, brahmins as a class were more tolerant and accommodative to others, I would say, to a fault.. I have seen many clear advantages being lost by brahmins due to their more than reasonably tolerant attitude. And the average brahmin sometime make himself look life a fool by showing small aberrations in silly issues which may not really affect the equilibrium of the set-up in any substantial way, but usually or core issues he adheres to a greater extent to rule of law and established values much better than others. This is my experience of long years of living and observing our community from our own set-up.. and I find this observation applies to most brahmin communities in South India. I do not know much about the North India and/or NRI brahmin attitudes.. But I do hope they should be also like us. You can call this statement hypocrisy if you want.
