Dear Brahmanyan Ji,

For a split second I was sort of shocked reading the title of this link.I was wondering "is it some movie of the weird kind"!LOL

Anyway..just read the link...well these days everything is in self destruct mode.

It is used to be "This Tape will self destruct in 5 seconds" when any Mission becomes Impossible but these days we have "This body will self destruct in 5 seconds" squads.....making any Mission Possible.

Dear Doctor,

True words. I would not have bothered to read the article but for the reference to the well known Newspaper "Dawn" in the post. "Dawn" founded by Mohammed Ali Jinnah is oldest and well respected English Newspaper airing the views of Muslim League during prepartion days. Its first editor was the famous journalist Pothan Joseph, who resigned the post because of paper's support for partitioning the nation. The writer Nadeed F Paracha is a leading colomnist known for his political satire writes regularly for "Dawn" and "The Indian Express".

Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

Recently I got a forwarded mail under the caption "Brainwashed" taken from the Archives of Pakistan's oldest and most widely read English-language newspaper "DAWN". Please read the same in the following weblink to understand how the TVs brainwash the younger generation by repeated propaganda of falsehood. This may be applicable to our Country as well.
Dear Bangalore B, This is a fake web site, look at the URL. Also, try clicking on one of the links they provide on the left side. This kind of forwarded emails almost always are fake and if it is against Muslims it is always designed to spread lies and hate. We have to be vigilant and not fall for it.

regards ....

Alright, here is the scoop, Bangalore B, Auh and Yay Yem, I stand punked, by myself I am afraid.

I looked at the URL given in the OP and it was "http://archives.dawn.com/weekly/images/archive/090104/images4.htm". It starts with archives.dawn, not dawn.archives and I was suspicious. So I tried just "http://archives.dawn.com" and I got the following message:

Error establishing a database connection

Then I clicked on a few links from the left and got the same message as above. Then I made my comment. I was too quick.

After seeing Bangalore B's last post I went to Dawn.com and searched for "Nadeem F. Paracha Blow Daddy" and lo and behold, there it was. The link in OP is made to look like Dawn and probably fake, but the article itself is genuine and can be found at Dawn.com. Here is the link:

NAKED LUNCH: Blow daddy - DAWN.COM

I apologize for jumping the gun.

best regards ....

Dear Prof Nara

Some of the other daring and gutsy Pakistani Authors that make "Good Reads" are Sonya Fatah,
Aiyesha Siddiqa, Asma Jehangir, Mohammed Hanif and Mohsin Hameed .

I am sure there must be many more - these are names that come to my mind first.

"Military Inc." by Ayesha Siddiqa [ hope I got the spelling of the name correct ] is really
good book and a 'must read' - " Daughter of the East " by Benazir Bhutto, I thought was sympathy
seeking and had a highly political tone to it.

Yay Yem

Dear Sri "Nara",
Not necessary to apologise. If the intentions are good, where is the need to apologise.
As for me, generally I do double check before I post forwarded messages. Some times I do go wrong.
Warm Regards,
Brahmanyan,
Bangalore.

Mohsin Hamid's "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" is (IMO) a brilliant book!
There's a lot of brainwashing that goes on on both sides of the border. Shri ANAND, I must read the other authors you mentioned.
