.......... We (I and my husband) are the ONLY two people to my knowlege
who get on a flgiht without a mobile. ........
Ram and I went to the U S of A in 2003, 2011 and 2013.

Did not have a mobile during all the three trips.

I got - not bought ;) - a mobile to use only in India, in 2012.

Mostly I ONLY use it during our local trips.

Dear RR ji,

The only person with a smartphone in my house is my son!

He told me that all his friends have smartphones and he also wanted one.

My husband had received as smartphone as a birthday gift from his brother last year(my BIL works in some company where he is able to buy smartphones at a very low price).

Ok so we gave that smartphone to my son to use and now he is telling me that his friends all have Samsung Galaxy and he would like one too.

I did not believe him but last 2 weeks when my son had an outing with his friends in a mall...i followed along and I saw all his friends having a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

You know none of them knew each other's mobile numbers but they kept emailing and chatting with each other on Facebook and all friends knew where to meet!

I took a quick peek to see with whom my son was chatting (to make sure it was his friend and not some unknown person) and my son told me "Amma a man needs his own space and privacy"!LOL

I was thinking he will be 13 in 2 months time and he thinks he is a man!

Ceetu goshti (chit funds). Enough members for a weekly meet instead of monthly!

Why does she need to invite 30 people every week? :grouphug:

It must be one of those 30 houses by rotation. :bump2:

I guess she feeds and extracts enough gossip :hungry:

to keep her busy till the next Sunday! :gossip:

Dear Sir,

In Sing Chennai, many such gOshtis exist! NArAyaneeyam gOshti; Lalitha sahasranAmam gOshti and so on....

The mAmis in each group make sure that they meet on weekly basis for chanting and eating!!

NavAvaraNam gOshti will be very busy on all days during navarAthri. :grouphug: + + :hungry:

Look at the bright side!

As a tourist, when you stand in front of a monument or in front of a sculpture in a museum, a running commentary will be automatically downloaded and presented, even when one does not know what he is viewing.

In a supermarket, when you look at the label of an item, a commentary on its use, function, relative prices in other shops, food value, and all extra information will be heard and seen by you (even a recipe and cooking demo).

When you meet a person on the road, his/her bio and credentials will be mined from social networking sites, giving you enough warning to do namaste or run in the opposite direction.

There are thousand other good uses; one's karma and dharma will propel him/her to good or bad action!

So, do not resist; accept and benefit.
These are NOT for people traveling on road, water or air! :scared:

I stick to my first opinion...
this is NOT for people driving any vehicle
on the road, in water or in air. :nono:
With one indriya (the ear) is engaged in listening to the mobile so many accidents happen!
What will NOT happen if the eyes, ears and imagination are involved???

I am sure all these mamis are clever enough to meet in
somebody else's house and never in their own house.
They can't be singing and chanting and still prepare food for an army!!!

Driverless car is also under test; then the driver-passenger can wear google glass. But the flip side is he will then start giving instructions to the auto-driver as wives now do.

Even for driver driven cars, instrument cluster is being replaced by projection on windshield.

There is no escape.

Touch screen driving??? :dizzy:

Soon man will be loose grip with existing reality :fear:

and vacillate between reality and virtual reality :scared:

Already dreams appear so true and life-like that

I often end up getting confused whether

they were real events or imaginary events.

Now one more added dimension to add to the existing confusion.

You are right sir. There is no escape for any one!

Not any more!!!

You know none of them knew each other's mobile numbers but they kept emailing and chatting with each other on Facebook and all friends knew where to meet!

Even Larry Page, the CEO of Google believes that phone numbers are an artifact of the 19th century and will soon be obsolete. All you have to know is the ID of the person and then you can interact with him/her via voice, video or text chat. That means SMSs as we know them today will also be replaced by text chat using Facebook, WhatsApp or Google ID.

The greatest monetary success leveraging the internet technology was actually the sex/porn industry.
Smart phones are also being exploited to achieve newer applications and they go beyond texting/and sexting ..

A new word is coined with its own Wikipedia page
Teledildonics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A new company called lovepalz (you can look up its website) has created new applications based on smart phone.

This is a new virtual world on top of Maya as we understand :-)

In a few years the interruption may not be just a phone call which may become obsolete - like the new Google glass there are devices always on that will sense what you need :-) - we have "google now" in our smart phone which is useful and creepy at the same time though it has not been exploited for deviant applications
