Dear RR ji,

I dont know why..but somehow I never view marriage as holy.

I view it as a contract.

Even on my marriage day it was my husband who seemed sentimental.I was cool.

But overall I am conservative.

Whether you see marriage as just a social need or something that has deeper significance depends on your view of reality. If you see something deeper than what is derived from sensory information alone then you would see marriage as holy and much more than a social need. But I understand it is difficult to convince people who do not believe in spirituality that marriage is holy.

Yesterday I asked my husband if he thought marriage is holy and he said that Marriage is Indeed Holy cos it religiously binds husband and wife with God as the witness and he said the holiest part of a marriage is walking around the fire.

He then asked me what I thought and I said I view it as a social contract for continuation of species and for socio -economic well being.He started laughing hearing my answer.

Sometimes the truth is not what most people want to hear.

Truth can be raw and very technical.

Add to that cooking , cleaning the toilets , cleaning the house, buying the food stuffs etc etc .Before we think on what happens after marriage let every man , women learn to cook their food , clean their toilets /house , wash their clothes , utensils much before they get married so that these issues do not become the cause of regular fight between the husband and wife after marriage . Yes we have now dishwasher and washing machine , yet some one needs to put in the clothes ( segrating them properly and not dumping them all in one go ) , detergent , take them out , dry it and press it .
So in essence one quality that each individual ( whether male , female ) must have before marriage is the ability to do one's household tasks oneself .
Swami Sivananda has listed 20 Important Spiritual Instructions and one of it is " Instruction No:17 Do not depend upon servants. Self-reliance is the highest of all virtues."
Self reliance helps before marriage , during marriage , as well as in Old age . Today many Old People ( especially men ) suffer in Old age because they have been always been dependent on their wives and suffer a lot after their wives death and in case of some couples they have always been dependent on their servants and suffer a lot in Old age when they find having a full time servant unaffordable or do not get reliable servants . If you love to do your household work and do it in time properly then one will not only have a healthy body but also a healthy , stress free mind .Not only that , once we are self reliant we will keep only the essential stuff will learn to do things in a simple and economical way and in that process we become more efficient .

Breeding like animals does not just refer to the number of offsprings, it is also about going from one sex partner to another, not bonding with anyone, no loyalty/faithfulness to any of the partners etc.. Some people not only read backwards, they also read upside down & they think their garbage is better than mud hole !! LOL !!

There is still lot of respect and acceptance for Hindu values and practices. Despite the clamour for free run, divorce and eagerness to admire and follow western values, Hindu dharma will will be in the heart, mind and soul of majority ordinary citizens. Religious activities in society, temples, TV, audio and print media is growing day by day. Hecklers will meet their samadi by natural means. But it is necessary to thattify them occasionally.
