This happened in Banaglore...Looks like TV channels care two hoots for individual privacy,,,They are more interested in fishing in troubled waters..And family courts can divulge many a melodramatic story if TV channels have their way

[h=1]TV channels restrained from telecasting proceedings on matrimonial dispute[/h][h=2]The case is pending before a family court in Bangalore [/h]The Karnataka High Court on Thursday restrained television channels from telecasting any programme on the proceedings related to a matrimonial dispute pending before a family court here.
The court passed the interim order after it was brought to its notice that TV9 Karnataka, a Kannada news channel, telecast a programme on April 21 about the dispute between a couple over fixing the date for conducting ‘chowla’, tonsuring ceremony, for their son aged 2 years and 11 months. The court also retrained TV9 from re-telecasting the programme.
Justice A.S. Bopanna passed the order after senior counsel Pramila Nesargi, appearing for the boy’s mother, complained to the court that the channel had telecast some of her photographs without her consent besides showing wrong information about the case pending before the family court. Though it was the boy’s father who had filed a petition seeking divorce, the channel said that it was the mother who sought the divorce, Ms. Nesargi said.
‘Embarrassment’
“Telecast of such programmes not only affects the rights of the parties besides causing embarrassment to them. My client could not come out after the channel aired the programme showing certain visuals and her photographs,” Ms. Nesargi contended.
She pointed out that every proceeding under the Hindu Marriage Act shall be conducted “in-camera” and Section 22 of the Act prohibits printing or publishing any matter in relation to any such proceedings.
“They [TV channels] may have understood the word “in-camera” differently. What about the advocates who will be part of panel discussion on such subjects on channels. Even advocates for the parties in the dispute too participate...,” Mr. Justice Bopanna orally responded in a lighter vein.
The High Court, however, agreed that repeat telecast of the programme would likely affect the rights of the parties.
The dispute
The family court, allowing an application filed by the husband during the pendency of the divorce petition, had permitted performance of ‘chowla’ on August 19, 2013. But the wife moved the High Court challenging the date saying the “time was not auspicious”.
The wife’s claim is that the ceremony could be performed only during Uttarayana — between mid-January and mid-June, and not during Dakshinayana. The husband was of the view that the ceremony should be performed before the child completed three years (before September 3, 2013).
As both were relying on religious scriptures for performing the traditional ceremony, the High Court, while staying the family court’s order, had asked them to approach the religious head of Shankar Math at Basaveshwaranagar in Bangalore. The couple, however, could not resolve their differences on the date.
Following this, the High Court on Thursday continued the stay on the family court’s order while observing that the court cannot fix a date as the couple were relying on religious scriptures for the ceremony, which is normally conducted with mutual consent.
The couple married in 2008 and the divorce petition was filed by the husband in 2011. The child is in the mother’s custody.

The gated community that we live in the Capital city is not far off...All the towers in the condominium are fitted with TV's that blare out advertisements from food to furniture

Looks like that no one will leave us free and we are unwittingly caught in the vortex of information deluge
 
Every Business thrives exploiting/capitalizing on some need of the public. Here the public's need is entertainment and the TV Channels have capitalized on it. Anything is now entertainment for the general public, even invading the privacy of others. Blame the public and not the media.

Look at Big boss...Private talk inside the 4 walls of the house has become public..The 7th edition is starting next month...And these shows are turning innovative keeping the audience glued to their seats..Unrehearsed and unscripted drama that develops by the second....Even regional channels in Kannada, Marathi and Malayalam have started this...Enthusiastically lapped up by the audience..We should see more of this crap
 
Our TV News Channels vie with each other in shouting . The news channels rush to give Police news in their own way. The progress of investigation by Police/Investigative agencies is given on the basis of their reports and interviews. Their is no judicial sanctity The so called panel discussions expose the intentions of the anchors in their loaded questions. Even if an issue is sub-judice or under investigation these TVs arrive at the verdict. This is a dangerous trend, worse than the Kangaroo Courts after the days of French revolution. All these are done in the name of freedom of speech. The line in between private and public domain does not seem to bother these wise men. Even Judicial verdicts are commented in their enthusiasm in competing with each other.

The latest in this band wagon to dispense justice is the Nithya dharmam shown in Thanthi TV...Spiritual leader or Judge...Leave it to the audience...Huge demand for such programs!

Transferring the audience to the bygone days when kings delivered justice seated on a peacock throne in palatial palaces!
 
In these days everybody has a tv channel, every 'galli' product is on tv and everybody is a political or financial analyst doing post-mortem on falling or failing Indian rupee. Others have their own matrimonial.com website to net hapless boys and fishing girls. Once in a while godmen also come on tv. From the day we fell lock,stock and barrel to the US most of us have become money-centric. And only god - I do not know which god - can retrieve us from this mess. Only people who would not want to come on tv are the ministers/politicians;they have other fishes to fry. The PM 'designed' NM is an exception. Come on, these are all festival days!
 
- Every news items is at the whims and fancies of news channel
- one day they praised Annz Hazare as next to God - now no one bothers about him
- When the news is hot - items like rape, murder, scams - these channels scream at top of their voices, when verdict comes other way they keep quiet.
- IN the name of reality shows, they have the freedom to show anything as they like
- People come to channel and ask you to buy home, land, gems, jewels.

We poor citizens are fully involved in all these commercial ventures - switching channel to channel to see the same ads. Advertisements are there for salt - dal - all types of eatables - drinkable - washable - etc etc .

Still they have not started ads for cremation types of events - soon some one may be.

Let me point out. Some enterprising couple have started "Shraddhanjali.com" to file obituaries. Soon we may see stills/videos of the dead. The Dead will RIP but the living relatives (and why not friends) will be stalking in the petty small screens. Living after the dead will be entertaining.
 
I think we spend a major portion of the time either on TV or on Internet...Recently in US it was determined that Americans spend 34 Hours watching TV....

But has some one determined the impact of watching TV on children in terms of overall well being and mental development...

I think the craze for TV looks unstoppable...If not TV it will be some other form of electronic entertainment like watching videos /working on apps on smart phone or playing computer games

This exposes the mindset of some over enthusiastic news gathering done by the News Channels, which resort to unethical methods in the name of freedom of expression and sting operation.

I am not sure whether that particular video clip was authentic or doctored. But the way it was telecast -
it had me squirming - it was like a XXX rated footage coming direct into your drawing room!

There was just no warning adults of ' viewer discretion ' and repeated many many times in prime viewer time
- it was disgusting - those who missed it, were lucky - they didn't have to sit through the ordeal with their
grown-up children and grand children.

I thought a closure notice ought to have been served on the Channel - for having invaded the privacy
of a lady and also for having openly aired footage that would have never escaped the Censor Board's knife.

I think the motivation was more the " Price Tag" rather than the over-enthusiasm for a scoop / sting operation.
