If anything or anyone disturbs me too much, I just go away from that object or person.

That helps to maintain our equanimity to some extent.

But somethings and some persons just keep instigating and irritating us - as if it is their lives' mission. :boink:

World is such and at times it sucks! :whoo:

I had no idea that you knew Tamil so well. :clap2:

So true Mrs.VR. Like poles did repel...now that we are friends we can bury it all..

நல்லார் தொடர்பை விடல்=பல்லார் பகைகொள்ளலின் தீது

i have earned the enemity of many, i will not sin by turning away from a person with a noble heart of friendship.

Best wishes.

The statement is self contradictory. It simply is something like:

I will shave if I will not shave

Alternative: Think to whom the question is posed:

(i) if to the new villager: He could just look at the face of the barber and arrive at the answer

(ii) if to others who has not seen the barber: Call for his (barber's) photo !!!!!

Alternative: Think to whom the question is posed:

(i) if to the new villager: He could just look at the face of the barber and arrive at the answer

(ii) if to others who has not seen the barber: Call for his (barber's) photo !!!!!

If the statement is not self contradictory the alternative is that the barber is a woman. But the question needs to be changed still.

It has to be:

"the barber shaves all those who do not shave themselves
and the above statement is true."

Shri Narayan,

Also you need to add "only" i.e., the barber shaves only those....
for it to be self contradictory.

The question is

1. whether the new comer is going to do self- shaving

2. or will go to the crafty barber.

In case he is going to do self-shaving, he need not

bother about the barber's being a liar or bearded!

If he goes in person he will know whether the barber

speaks the truth and sports a regal beard or NOT!

Alternative: Think to whom the question is posed:

(i) if to the new villager: He could just look at the face of the barber and arrive at the answer

(ii) if to others who has not seen the barber: Call for his (barber's) photo !!!!!

# 4. Diana.

In Roman mythology, Diana (Italian. "heavenly" or "divine") was the goddess of the Hunting and Moon and Birthing.

She was associated with wild animals and woodland, and had the power to talk to and control animals.

She was equated with the Artemis the Greek Goddess. Diana was known to be the virgin goddess and looked after virgins and women.

She was one of the three maiden goddesses, Diana, Minerva and Vesta, who swore never to marry.

Oak groves were especially sacred to her. According to mythology, Diana was born with her twin brother Apollo on the island of Delos, as the daughter of Jupiter and Latona.

Diana made up a triad with two other Roman deities: the water nymph Egeria , her servant and assistant midwife; and the woodland god Virbius.

Diana often appeared as a young woman, age around 12 to 19. She had a fair face like Aphrodite with a tall body, slim, small hips, and a high forehead.

As a goddess of hunting, she wore a very short tunic so she could hunt and run easily and is often portrayed holding a bow, and carrying a quiver on her shoulder, accompanied by a deer or hunting dog.

Sometimes the hunted creature would also be shown.

As goddess of the moon, however, Diana wore a long robe, sometimes with a veil covering her head. Both as goddess of hunting and goddess of the moon she is frequently portrayed wearing a moon crown.

# 5.

When a man grows bald partially or fully, he more often than not,

starts growing fancy mustaches and weird beards.

The same principle was extended by a wife to her husband.

"If you have to give up a habit, you must start a new one."

He agreed making her promise that she will cooperate in his efforts.

He stopped smoking, drinking and went on a diet all at the same time!!!

So what could be the most likely consequence of all these sacrifices???

Dear Smt.VR and Shri Narayan,

At heart the puzzle is a paradox. So the solutions of looking at the photo or going in person to verify doesn't make sense because whether the barber wears a beard or not are both not logically possible according to the statement of the problem.

You may have to question the reality then! that becomes a totally different type of problem!
The question is

1. whether the new comer is going to do self- shaving

2. or will go to the crafty barber.

In case he is going to do self-shaving, he need not

Dear Mr. Narayan
I am sure you have an answer and you know it.
Hope you will give it when you think
it is the right time to give it!

The riddle stated as such doesn't have a solution because it is a paradox. You may make some changes to it for it to have a solution such as the barber being a woman etc.

He started cheating?

He could say I give up smoking but I will pick up drinking, I will give up drinking but be not on diet etc.?

Photofinishing entires!!! :bump2:

You are perfectly right! :clap2:

I am not sure whether it was 24/7 ! It must have

been something very close to that I am sure.

So isn't it interesting to note that it takes a bachelor

to solve a puzzle about a married man!

He got into romancing with his wife 24/7???
