Bhakthas are crazy too! We are planning to visit a temple in Guwahati and the 'sthala purANa' did make me embarrassed!
What a way to build a temple to which lakhs of devotees throng! :bump2:

no need for embarrassment. It is just a story . the temple at the top of the hill is a good spot for visit you might remember your childhod.sometime can be spent on brahmaputra banks

if..
you have oppurtunity , try sikkim going to bongaigon . it is bus journey across a few km from bongaigaon. Arunachal is nearby. also darjeeling is not far off.North east is a great place for a holiday..summer holiday

if you like the hills north east is best.

only food might be an issue.

they use mustard oil for cooking

Sometimes I feel that the book by V should be banned. Already the younger generation is spoiled enough! :tsk:

Some of the sculptures in a few temples are very vulgar and I wonder how the kings could allow them for public viewing! :yuck:

Dear RR ji,

I visited a palace in India last year and the collection of the Maharajas art was mainly scantly clad or half clad/nude females...I think males are just obsessed with females (good for us!LOL we can twist them around our fingers!)..after all even Adi Shankara knew how males think and said this in Bhajo Govindam:

NAAREE STHANABHARA NABHEEDESAM
DHRISHTWA MAA GAA MOHAVESAM
YETAN MAAMSAVASAADI VIKAARAM
MANASI VICHINTHAYA VAARAM VAARAM
Enticed by the physical glamour of a woman, do not lose your senses; the body is nothing but a conglomeration of flesh, do not forget this any time.

So dear RR ji..dont be disheartened..we females should be glad that males drool over us!LOL

Renukaji,

I got up this morning had a cup of coffee and opened the computer and I have this post before me. I just wonder what Sankara would have said if he had lived in a female dominant society and had to tell the women to keep away from carnal desire etc say, to an amazonian woman. LOL.

Good. I appreciate the fact that you believe in equality and also advise females to keep away from males..

may be a Shloka like this would do the job:

Enticed by the physical valor of males..do not lose your senses..Remember! The body is just a conglomerate of flesh and bones..so once you have sucked 'em dry....discard them like disposable material and do not forget to recycle! Go green Amazing Amazonians!

Actually for me I dont really appreciate anyone too much..be it men or women..once you have done autopsies there is no mystery cos you have seen everything both inside and outside...and that leaves nothing for imagination.

He is only 40 and system shut down already??LOL

He should have been screened for Diabetes and Atherosclerosis..this narrows blood vessels and cause problems for male sexual performance.

Many males think this is becos of age but they dont realize that a system shut down of the sexual kind can spell a heart attack in the near future cos if arteries narrow in the body it means cardiac vessels narrowing too which leads to a heart attack eventually.

So if any male in the early 40's experience any sexual performance problems..please get screened by a doctor to check your cholesterol levels/blood sugar levels and also for signs of atherosclerosis....don't be complacent thinking its becos of age..never ignore warning signs..it could cost you your life..the body speaks to us in strange ways...so if you are not stiff that is a warning sign that you could land up a stiff in the morgue soon!

Dr Renu - why would this medical reasoning not apply at any age instedd of focus on 40 or below

Dear TKS ji,

Most males start to experience some changes after they enter 40's and that is also when most lifestyle induced diseases like Diabetes/Hypertension etc start.

But these days some also get Diabetes and Hypertension even below 40 due to poor dietary control and stressful lifestyles.

So my focus was for the usual average of 40 years and above..but nevertheless if anyone has faulty ammunition at any age..there is no harm going for a detail medical examination to rule out the conditions I wrote in my post earlier.

if you think in
medical terms, everyone is ultimately a body to be dissected on autopsy . where is lust or love in this.
on the other hand if you forget for a moment you are a doctor, appreciation may also be possible for what a person is irrespective of gender . also there is a possibility of lust or like for a person . many coventional ladies may not like to admit it though

Even before I became a doctor I used to always wonder what lies beneath!LOL

Really..no jokes..when I was a young child I used to cut open all my teddy bears with whatever object I can get my hands on and take out the contents of it and look for what was inside.

My mum used to sew up all my teddy bears and everyone used to wonder why all my teddy bears were always having stitches in the centre of their 'body'.

So my parents somehow thought I will grow up and be a doctor but I wonder why they did not get scared and think "what if she grew up to be a serial killer?"

Actually I totally disliked surgery when I was in the government service..I hated the Operation Theaters..I always preferred the Autopsies in the Mortuary..cos there is less stress.. nothing can go wrong..the person is already dead!

quite weird liking for autopsies in the mortuary. there is something final about death.

very rarely we hear stories that those given up for dead wake up on the way to the burning/burial round.

talking of pleasanter things , it may not be a bad idea to think of people as objects of lust or liking ignoring the cold body jnside the clothes.the body might even be warm and stinking from sweat in hot weather. sounds romantic eh

Dear Vaagmi ji,

You know me well....I did think of writing about the 6 pack but I then thought..a 6 pack is something no Maama has..so what is the use of writing about it?LOL

You dont know how much easier it is dealing with the dead then with the living.

Really..with living patients..you have to keep hearing them out non stop..some are fussy and never listen to advice given..some are argumentative too and dealing with humans day in a day out can get on your nerves at times.

With a dead person in the morgue..the waiting queue is less unless some major accident..but the advantage is patient is not fussy..patient does not talk..patient does not have to listen to us too..we just do our job and patient is sent home...the silence of the morgue is very peaceful.

Its not becos there is something final about death..its just that no one talks in the morgue!LOL

But believe me I have seen even Police Officers scared of entering a Morgue.Once I had to do an autopsy for an accident case and the Police Officer had to accompany his Police Photographer to witness the Autopsy and boy was he scared!LOL

He said 'doc can I wait outside..I have a new born baby at home..I dont want to go home after entering the Morgue cos my baby might get some disturbance"

I told him 'as you please"

I was thinking "what a coward! I was at that time 6 months pregnant and did not fear the morgue and here a Police Officer was scared"

But you know out here many people wear all sorts of amulets for "protection" and some have rigid rules that they cant wear it to a Morgue or a cemetery cos it might be rendered ineffective ..so I was thinking most probably that Police guy was wearing one of those amulets and did not want to render his amulet ineffective.

The hospital I worked in many many years ago the morgue there was situated beside a graveyard!LOL

I still remember our over efficient director wanted us doctors to conduct autopsies even at night..that time the rule was that autopsies are to be conducted during day time only..so many guys got scared too cos the morgue was right next to the cemetery separated by a fence.

Since I was pregnant that time..the male doctors used me as an excuse and told the director.."do you expect a pregnant doctor to be doing autopsies at midnight that too when the morgue is next to the cemetery?"

So after hearing that the director changed his mind and decided no midnight autopsies!LOL
