Thayar idli mavu.. how many realized it this mavu in chennai is costing differently in each shop in chennai. keep a note on the price. since it is widely available everyone is charging different rates

( Balu Sir - V. Balasubramani - had counted the pieces before joining for the get together on 15th! )

Mam,

Out of the 42 pieces, four were considerably very small in size. I
don’t know to whom they were intended, probably to any Diabetic
Member? These toffees were really good both in colour and in taste.

Thanks Mam,.

With regards.

Thank you Balu Sir! You are correct.

Those small pieces were 'sweet' friends special! :)

I do not have many sentiments but have a few! One is to keep the special gifts for ever.

A cali-synth saree was presented to me by my eldest sister, when I got my master's degree.

After using it for many years, I have made it as a bedspread now! This is how it looks:

Mam,

What is the idea behind this? During the recent meeting, I found all the Veena instruments of assorted sizes, which includes King and Queen sizes, were all parked vertically. What is the idea? Is it to save space? Will it not get damaged while day-to-day handling?

With regards

Dear Balu Sir,

Copy pasting my post # 85 which gives the answers to your Qs. I handle the veenas; so they are safe!!

The Veenas need a lot of space, if kept on the floor horizontally. I got this idea from

my Guru, who stored his Veenas in a stand similar to this in the photo. At first, I had

only three Veenas and one tiny thampurA (the black one). Hence designed this stand,

to accommodate them and our carpenter made it.

Later on, I bought one smaller Veena and so it occupies the place of the thampurA,

shifting it to the floor! That is why that Veena is tied with a tape.

Mam,

There is a locking arrangement which I failed to notice. As usual good idea indeed.

With regards
:)

Raji Madam

Good to see Veenas arranged beautifully; Name them after Ma Saraswathi "raghunatha veena ", Chitra Veena, Vichita Veena, and Rudra Veena.

Where there is Music there will be the Goddess of Learning always!!

In China Huainan City

The+Piano+House%252C+Huainan%252C+China.jpg

The Piano House is located in Huainan City, Anhui Province, China. The building was designed by students from the architecture department of Hefei University of Technology and developed alongside designers of Huainan Fangkai Decoration Project Co.

The building was created for music lovers local musicians from local colleges to practice in. Unfortunately, the building is often criticized as kitsch, literal architecture, or a typical student project, being more outrageous than the art and functionality.

Thanks for the info P J Sir.

In memory of the violin maestro Sri. Chowdiah, Bangalore has 'Chowdiah memorial hall', in the shape of a violin. :pray2:

awesome. i really wish we would use some creative and imaginative architecture for some of our new memorial edifices.

has anyone been to the bahai temple in delhi. so magnificiently different, i think. we need not have all our new temples with the traditional gopuram. can have some 21st century thinking built into the architecture. would be a refreshing change, atleast for some of us.

Two minutes madisAr!!

Wearing a madisAr saree is always a problem for many ladies. Just before my son's wedding, I made two nine and half yard

sarees
into two piece madisArs. The first portion up to the first knot is about three and quarter yards and the second portion

is about six yards. I stitched the first portion with the pleats at the back fixed and made as a pAvadai, with a tape to tie it.

The rest of the saree is to be worn just as any other madisAr. This enabled me to use the second portion as the normal six

yards saree! 'oRE kallula rendu mAngAy'!! :becky:

Now another break-through! madisAr stitched with a normal saree + top portion of an under-skirt!

The idea is to attach the first portion which will be seen outside, from just above the knees, with a skirt. This needs only

half the width of the normal saree. About one and half meters cut into half + the top portion of an under-skirt will suffice.

Use elastic tape instead of nAdA, to wear it in two or three seconds.
The rest of the portion is to be wound round as the

normal madisAr, starting from the back. :)

P.S: I shall post the pictures soon.

I stitched with two different colors for easy understanding! (???)

Pictures........ soon.

Model - :nono: unless I get some one else!

Here is the picture of 'andrum indrum' editions!

P.S: Demo and wearing techniques - ONLY for ladies and only in person. :blabla:

Awaiting comments from Kunjuppu Sir.

:grouphug:

sorry raji. cannot imagine this in any one's body and how it fits or looks or is 'authentic'. i have a poor sense of trying to fit this in with a human body.

we need someone to dress up in these, and also dress up with traditionally tied madisar, so that we can compare the two.

till then, beg your pardon, i will (for what it is worth) reserve my judgement (again for what it is worth :) )

Thank you Kunjuppu Sir. I am yet to try the new one.

And........ shall await comments from friends in Ram's village! :)

During my son's wedding, many mAmis were curious to know, because of my easy 'avvai Shanmuki' walk! :thumb:

I assure you, Sir; these madisArs are NOT showy! :pound:

The advantages I find in the new type of stitching.

1. Cotton comfort of the underskirt.

2. No bulge because of the first set of pleats.

3. No extra bump due to the 'thAr' portion which goes all the way back up to the hip!

4. Easy to wash and dry for 'madi' purpose; especially the first portion which can be dried using a shirt hanger.

5. Look as slim as possible. :)

6. Easier walking because of light attire. :thumb:

Kunjuppu Sir

It is difficult to get a 'model' for these things.

Earlier, there was a video demo on Pancha Kacham Veshti - Tmt VR commented on my 6-pack abs
and Stallone-like upper torso !

So, that's what happens when you put 'model' in - people gape at the 'model', not the garment.

It's upto Raji Mami to find a 'model'.

Yay Yem
