Thank you P J Sir! This is what I always imagine to save space, after watching a few Disney cartoons! :D

Very efficient space saving techniques. :thumb:
P.S: I think washing has to be done in laundry outside home! :washing:

There's a lot of pulling out and setting up, but that's OK for a young person. Raji, usually in New York/Manhattan, they have laundry facilities in the basement.

In UK too, Each Flat has Laundry Facility in one of the floors, or in the Ground Floor; but most Individual homes have their own Laundry facility.

Yes Padmini. Even in Boston they have laundry at the basement of the apartments.

Since we use our own washing machine, the concept was a bit hard for me to digest, in the beginning! :)

I wrote earlier that Lysol lemon fragrance keeps away tiny spiders and lizards away! Since Lysol is a bit expensive, I was trying for an

alternate solution. Got it now! Pril dish wash gel has very strong lemon smell. Here is the way to save money!

Mix 10ml (one tablespoon) of Pril (lemon) gel in 200 ml (one small glass) of water and keep in a bottle. I used an empty shampoo bottle.

After rinsing and squeezing the mop in plain water, sprinkle one teaspoon of the mixture on the mop and do the job! Very effective! :thumb:

P.S: I find that the vitrified tiles have some anti skid property too by this method!

SAmbAr base to make easy sAmbAr.

Take tamarind enough for six to seven times sAmbAr made at home. Pressure cook for one minute and take the

thick extract. Add seven tablespoons of sAmbar powder, coriander, koththamalli, and one tablespoon of salt. Boil

the mixture for two minutes and season with oil, mustard, vendhayam and perungAyam. Store in the fridge when

it cools. Whenever sAmbar is needed, pressure cook dhal and veg, add some salt and one ladle of the ready mix.

Hot sAmbar is ready!

The idea of using less salt in the mixture is that in emergency, it can be used as 'vaththak kozhambu' without vaththal!!

It tastes great with dOsAs! :thumb:

Dear Kunjuppu Sir,

ஐடியா கேசரி - reminds me of kEsari. So, NO.

ஐடியா சூடாமணி - reminds me of a school days friend. So, NO.

ஐடியா கலாநிதி - Oh NO! Music academy will get upset!

ஐடியா ரத்னா - reminds me of my mAmi. So, NO.

ஐடியா பூஷணம் - Oh! Sounds like 'pooshaNi'. So, may be for a fatter lady! :becky:

Hence I am happy with the title that my dear mom conferred on me - 'Idea Thilakam'. :thumb:

.. my daughter wishes to know "How long can it be preserved" ?
Dear P J Sir,

I think you are asking about the sAmbAr concentrate. I make for a week for the two of us but if I get some guests it will be over soon! :)

So, if kept in the fridge, the concentrate will be good for a week easily.

Curry leaves are fresh for five to six days if stored in an air-tight bottle (glass / plastic)

No need to keep in the fridge!

How about coriander leaves.I think we have to m preserve it in a well sealed plastic bag in the fridge.
Dear Sir,

Coriander leaves are to be washed well, dried and then rolled in a cloth and kept in a plastic cover. Need not be air-tight.

But this packet should be kept in the fridge. Everyday after use, please remove yellowish leaves, if found! I preserve for

one week in this manner. :)

We keep in lock and seal plastic containers; after every use, water condensed is drained out and yellow leaves are removed. Will keep for more than 12 days when kept in the fridge.

Some containers were advertised some time back - with holes at the bottom and a drain tray.

Dear Sir,

The idea to roll in a cloth is to absorb the moisture. I am yet to try an air tight container. Since I use the necessary quantity of

the leaves in the 'sAmbAr base', I need the leaves only for other items prepared. :)
